I do think he's probably the blandest of the character designs. That's a construction worker jumpsuit, and a beanie. Sure, it has a visor, but... Yeah, just slate grey. Plus, we got 4 short haired waifus in this game, soooooo

The best thing about good cell shading is that it is timeless. It ages so good. Other games from this generation can look old as hell, but the cell-shading here just keeps looking great.
Similar to what Reggie was saying about the inception of Jet Set Radio, I remember reading an interview in Official Dreamcast Magazine back in the day from the director of the game. He stated that the entire reason he joined Sega was because as a kid he idolized their defiant attitude in the early 90's, particularly with the way Sonic was portrayed in America. When he grew up and had the chance to join Sega, he found they had mellowed out and were making bland "anime and manga style games" and wanted to bring back the stylish side of Sega.
aaaaah, Sega should definitely bring this back. Kids now at days make them funny Splatoon shitpost, y'know, these franchises could totally coexist and be f r e s h together.
14:06 I recognize the vocal sample of “Viva La Revolucion!” from the Serial Experiments Lain Cyberia Mix album. Song is “Professed intention and real intention” by Wasei Chikada Edit: Sample is "Viva la Revolucion" by 2 in Line
Man, Reggie's history lesson reminded me of how many great games Sega used to make. No time for another Jet Set Radio or Panzer Dragoon game though. Gotta release another shitty pile of Sonic garbage while other people make the good Sonic games.
Surprised neither you nor Reggie gave props to Richard Jacques during Everybody Jump Around this ep or last. Solid dude, and responsible for the jams in Sonic R to boot.
Very informative video Woolie! I love how you guys just gush over this game and I love the history lesson that goes with it! I do believe that Fear Effect for the PS1 had " pseudo" cell shading effects that predate this game but I'm not too sure. Keep it up and keep these videos coming! :D
I'd love to see a new Sega console. Or a Saturn and/or Dreamcast Mini. ......But really I just want Panzer Dragoon, Jet Set Radio, Space Channel 5, Skies of Arcadia, etc brought back.
Someone tell Pat that Woolie's first Jet-rank was doing air spray combos to cel-shaded helicopters. It's a lie, because it was his SECOND Jet-rank, but do it. It'll make Pat's little S-rank moment from Metal Gear Rising look dumb.
I don't think this game's story would work if it was released today. Because if the police did stuff like this to the skaters, the U.N would be all over Japan if it gets online.
Tbh I'm glad you're playing JSR instead of JSRF (though I would love a LP of that in the future). I couldn't play through this game; I started with Future and have been conditioned by the fact that it's basically better in every aspect, so I just can't get through JSR due to the jank. Thanks again, and good stuff so far!
I want to continue believing that Tab was run over by a train and that's why Woolie wont pick him anymore.
Tab died and was replaced by Corn in JSR future. It all makes sense now.
I can't believe Tab fucking died.

@@Xunkun i honestly think even tho its simple its just as a good a design as the others, it conveys his personality well

Turk: Brinner!
Air Gear has a track that directly pays homage to Humming the Baseline called "Not hummin' but vibing."
I miss Air Gear. Brb, gonna rewatch what DVDs of the anime I have, also try to figure out where I left off on the manga...

Woolie if you read this please consider Killer7 sometime in the next year
was the PC port any good?

9:30 - That one paratrooper always gets stuck on the octopus.
Yep even in the dreamcast version. Surprised woolie didnt bring mention to that
a skater dude and reboot logo? Woolie just made a reimagining of the guardian code
Reggie: *very interesting trivia about SEGA and Jet Set Radio*
Woolie: SORRY REGGIE ITS THE BASE DROP RARARARARACHOU
Man, Reggie's history lesson reminded me of how many great games Sega used to make. No time for another Jet Set Radio or Panzer Dragoon game though. Gotta release another shitty pile of Sonic garbage while other people make the good Sonic games.
At least Yakuza is still going
As much as I love Sonic I wholeheartedly agree with you. I want to see some more space channel 5 or Chu Chu rocket
Sega owns Bayonetta, shut up about them not having good games
@@Cr3zant They sure do own Bayonetta. It was nice of Platinum to make that for them.
@@N00BSYBORG without their funding Platinum wouldn't have been able to make it

God im so glad Woolies here to fill the sbf void, i love you man
Mew is a stone cold killer
Sega keeps referencing this series every once in a while. I really hope they make a third one at some point.
Sneakman playing for the intro hell yeah
Man this play through is reminding me of why I was such a sega fanboy back in the day, lol. Awesome fact hunting Reggie.
Ah, and back to Woolie spreading his influence all over Japan
In a thick, viscous spray all over the walls.
It’s the only way he’ll get Daigo’s attention. He will fulfill that runback prophecy
@@souloftherisingsun8274
Oh no, he walked into another Shoryuken.
Life Is Crap for every time he falls it’s one more added to the feeling of triumph when he’s the one left standing this time
Rock that shit homie!
I still say it's, "Flapjacks, Get It On Me!" or something similar.
WE CAN DO IT! WE'RE WEEBS!
- Woolie Madden 2019
man Reggie is such an awesome co pilot! interesting development topics and no dead air at all!
Watching this play through I'm remembering just how amazing this game really was.
So what yall are saying is that Jet Set Radio is the most ambitious crossover in SEGA history?
Garam has a tramp stamp.
I'd love to see a new Sega console.
Or a Saturn and/or Dreamcast Mini.
......But really I just want Panzer Dragoon, Jet Set Radio, Space Channel 5, Skies of Arcadia, etc brought back.
Okay okay okay, Police Choppers are one thing, but they're bringing out the military grade tanks this early? How do you escalate from here?
I mean even the "police choppers" are AH-1 Cobra gunships.
"back that shit homie"? really woolz? its called rock it on lol. loving the lp so far tho
[muffled "Yappie Feet" in the distance]
Love these games. I hope you play Jet Set Radio Future as well.
"LA-RE-RE-RE! VIVA! VIVA!! LA-REVOLUCION!"
"ROCK THAT SHIT, WOOLIE!"
Those helicopter soldiers, they had family. They were doing their job.
Love the new content Woolie and Reggie! Awesome as usual!
I would be totally fine with a Jet Set Radio x Air Gear crossover.
Woolie, the finale better be 24hr party people!
6:30 you see those frogs? Ribbit me me froggo to
Never got this far, but as the game progresses, I can see the similarities with Air Gear more and more
You know what other game contains grinding and music from the same composer? Sonic Rush!
We in there.
I like the idea that you need to bring in Military personal and vehicles to deal with graffiti artists.
This character kinda reminds me of Gas-O from Bust a Groove.

Does... does Garam have a *tramp stamp?*
Woolie Imma be here every video hating, Till we get future. Todays salt: Look at Posion Jam in this game versus them in JSRF.
Poison Jam in Future look straight up like discount Venom and it's the best.
Where doing tricks lets you grind faster and you can spend paint cans to rocket boost! HHHHNG I need it!
+PookieDaExzile Stop hating. Starting the journey at the destination makes no sense.
Why only play the song that the Smash hip-hop classic sampled
They played DMC1 before 3 too. We'll get there
Me and my can Break Dance better than that.
sync issues?
