5:31 The little remote drone stopped because it "sees" through motion detectors and can't actually see through a camera. He didn't legally marry her to appear available for political reasons even though he wasn't planning on ever being with another woman. I know you don't care haha but this is just in case people were wondering :) Edit: Just tried to clarify the drone explanation
If no camera, why dude in the wall? So it is automated? Well... Then they should've put this thing on a timer or something. And given how compact these drones are, why not putting like 2-3 of them in every room just in case? It's easy to hide them. Heinekens are dumb
@@andremorr they are not autonomous, machine autonomy is seen as a capital crime against humanity in the Dune universe due to past events, the hunter-seeker’s blindness is due to the level of miniaturization of the hunter-seekers and in-universe technology restraints, the visual feedback being relayed to the pilot is purely motion based, so the pilot controlling the drone can only see moving targets
8:30 the shield wall around the city is a physical shield, its just a bigass pile of metal that the worms cant swim through. the shields that people use to stop knives and shit use some sort of frequency based scifi space magic, and the vibrations from that frequency piss off the worms
@@Jazz-i4h in the movie, the invading forces turn the shields off. You said it’s a physical shield. It doesn’t make sense. If the movie changed it to an energy shield, then why doesn’t it attract the worms? And how was the shield build physically without causing vibrations in your case (as I suspect it is in the book).
3:20 it's been a minute since I've read the books but I seem to remember that the laser guns in the universe (lasguns as they are called) have an explosive reaction if they hit a shield so they typically turned them off in open battlefields. Also, the shields produced a vibrating pattern that attracts worms so probably another reason why they weren't activated.
10:36 The Bene Gesserits are a sort of sisterhood. It's known, even by the Harkonnens, that only women should be able to use the voice, Paul is an odd case so they didn't expect him to be able to use the voice at all. They also probably didn't see him as any sort of threat lol (guys who mew amirite).

I was drum sand my guy, it’s mentioned in the book. “It’s drum sand!” Paul exclaimed. It’s a form of sand where it’s stupidly loud when you step on it like a drum. It exists irl as well.

btw i wanted to comment this but didn't know if you would see it but since you reuploaded, the weapon drone mosquito thing stops right before killing paul because it detects movement and since paul didnt move when he saw it, it didnt attack because it would only attack when movement happens
I've seen explanations that overusing the voice mind control on some people can actually progressively make them immune to it; the more you're exposed to it, the more you understand, the better you resist. So, using it to stage a coup and overthrow the empire could only last for so long. IDK.
Just to explain why dude locked the door and died on the other side is because they know they have a thing that can get through the door (which they show you in the movie) so he was buying them time to get out before the door destroying laser comes along.

he was asking how. does it need to be touching the sand? is a shield on the rocks ok? how far away from the sand is enough to be safe? The answer is that if a character is using a shield, they probably know that it's safe to do so.
@@Stinky_brother Yes, he did ask that question later on when they talk about the shield wall. On that note, "The Shield Wall", is not the same kind of shield, but is a natural formation of rock that surrounds the north pole of the planet (where the major industries and administration centers are), providing a natural barrier against the worms and storms.
The hunter-killer fly drone thing was supposed to be motion-guided in the book, but all the movies have it remote controlled with video.... [EDIT: read @ClobberingSocks's reply below]
in the book they were remote controlled too, if it was autonomous it would be a crime against the primary commandment of the Butlerian Jihad, its explained in the books that due to size constraints of the technology that the camera of the drone was primitive and purely motion based which is why being motionless enough made them invisible to the drone pilot
