Thank you for this video. It will be a huge help when I go to replace my camera glass. I cracked my camera glass at work a couple weeks ago & I thought it was going to be expensive to get fixed or very hard to do it myself. But, after watching this video, I am very relieved to see how inexpensive & easy it will be for me to fix it myself. Thank you again & best of luck to you!
It was a bit scary at first digging into your phone with a sharp object but worked perfectly in the end. Its a bit messy and a bit fiddly but recommend. Great video thanks.
Hey, haven't done a Motorola yet. Probably gonna do those soon. They are getting popular again. You got one broken camera lens? Want it featured in one of my video
I was wondering whether this will effect the phones water resistant capabilities? I have just noticed a crack in mine but I'm tempted to leave it if it breaks the water seal during this process
Hum if you have a Crack your water seal is already broken. If it's a surface scratch your fine as long as the line does not interfere with your camera experience. It it does bother you you can replace it, you'll get a somewhat water resistance back but don't consider it as good as manufacturer specs.
I have a crack that did not interfere with the camera but it completely stopped working when submerged in 3 inches of water while walking in water at the beach. It was in my pocket and was in the water for a brief moment.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO...... i replaced it with jst hairdryer nd a blade......but it would be safer if u remove the back glass nd seperate it......
Hey here's a very complete answer I made this video Galaxy S21 Water Damage Repair! Causes of Water Damage? ua-cam.com/video/Dm1mOpFirPc/v-deo.html To test what I was saying to people. A device repaire should withstand water even if Submerged but you cannot trust it will survive the 30mn ip 68 limit. In this video the device had the cameras glass replaced just like this one and the back was also replaced. So everything were aftermarket and of relatively what I consider good quality. The device was fine for almost 7 minutes before it just black out. If parts are good and repair is done correctly the device should stay alive at least 10 minutes maximum (beyond that you're risking it). Maybe with reinforced liquide glue b7000 the back will hold longer but the camera glass it's almost impossible to add liquid glue to reinforce the thin tape. The tape on these camera glass are good if they are black and a little bit thick like in the video but if they are clear and very thin even 7 minutes will be exceptional. 😅 small paragraph but that's everything I concluded so far until another test and hopefully passing 15 minutes.
The heat can certainly affect the cameras, but you'll just have to be carefull at not keeping the heat too long on the same spot. Never had issues so far and I did this on a lot of devices
Heat guns have power levels..1.2.3 or more....mine is 1 and 2 or low and high. In this video I used low (it will work right might take a bit longer but much safer than using high or higher power level) Normal you can do this with a Hairdryer which is much less temp than a heat gun (Hairdryer will take a bit more time than a heatgun that's all). If using a heat gun make sure you are always in motion because staying on on spot longer can rapidly damage or burn things on that spot.
I would say Samsung but they won't sell parts only. I have links in the description, the product they are selling is of good quality and should work well. That's where I got my replacement. You cannot know for sure if it's original but you can only appreciate the build quality and overall aspect compares to what was on the device
Nice video 👍 I own note 20 ultra, I love this phone but last month the camera was broken. I replaced the glass but still the camera does not work as before especially in zooming and taking pictures at night. Do you think replacing the entire camera is worth it and can solve all the problems as a new phone or I should wait until replacing my phone.
If you're 100% sure after the back glass replacement same issues persist unfortunately you'd have to replace the camera module. Just make sure you buy the right module. If you want to upgrade soon changing the phone is better
I used the double sided tape. Using liquid glue would probably make things messier and possibly multiple re-do. That's why I used the double sided tape only
Man mine came up fully without pieces going everywhere in a single sheet. Cracked to hell but…lol I’d suggest using a plastic spudger when you can just in case you lose control as it won’t scratch the lense or shouldn’t. Also you can use a hair drier infact they suggest that over a heat gun as you can melt your lense 😬
Agree, a heat gun is not necessary a hairdryer will work fine, but most repair shop will not go for a hairdryer (just the way the business goes). My very first video on the S7 edge lol I used a hairdryer then I found myself doing other things that a hairdryer will be inefficient so that's how I acquired my first heat gun (still working today on all my videos hahaha). I recommande most people to use hairdryer to save on buying a heat gun for a one time use only. Great comment 👍🏽 people will find it useful.
@@ersbit Thanks, yes, i had a thin crack forever, camera kept working fine. I finally decided to change the screen after seeing your video. it seems all cameras can't focus, is there is a sensor that affects them all? The sensor did lift up a little, and i just pushed it back down.
….these camera can move alone to avoid brutal movements when recording ( you should not manipulate the cameras ) What did you can? Camera glass or screen ?? There should not be any special sensor that will keep cameras functioning from my knowledge. You can reset the cameras maybe that will reset everything. The only reason I had camera not focusing was because one of the modules was replaced and it is not really really compatible with the device model. Did you replace one of the cameras?
@@ersbit Thanks, I only changed the camera glass, I'll try changing it again since i have another one. any tip on how to remove the glass when it's not broken? i'll also try cleaning the cameras, I saw in one of your video you used a Qtip and water?
First thing you remove the glass and test the camera to see if it focus (act normally) If yes the glass is current maybe glass is obstructing the cameras maybe a fingerprint on the glass or the glass is dirty. If no maybe then you can try to clean with alcohol very tiny if too much the sensor will be damage if not already. Try cleaning without liquid first and test then if nothing change check the cameras for dust or dirt on them on the surface. If you have nothing it's clean you may have a bad cameras. If you have dust clean and test. If the cameras are bad you need to find our which caméra is bad by testing all camera one by one in the camera app by changing the zoom one after another to make sure you can test everything ( all cameras) If you find one or more bad not focusing use your finger to spot the camera by blocking each camera I e by one to see which camera is bad. Then for camera replacement you will look for a camera with the same device model for maximum software compatibility. Let me know how it goes 👍🏽
I would charge something like $60 to repair but not sure if some other shops would charge more or less. Depend on the shop reputation and truthfulness 😅😂
lol that is a good question but just treat the device as a lighter water resistant device. If you plunged it 3 minutes before don't do that anymore than 45 seconds to be safe. Really depends on the quality of the parts used to repair the device.
I have an ultra Galaxy S20 camera glass that's broken. Samsung's partner says you should completely change the back of your mobile phone, saying you shouldn't change the camera's glass alone because your cell phone won't be protected from water afterwards, meaning it's no longer anti-water. Is that true
Specifically the S20 Ultra ( what he said is not true. The tape used can hold water outside!! The Surface area the tape holds the camera glass is very large and I don't see water breaching that area.) in the S21 and S22 yes the Surface area is super small for each camera glass so water will breach it easily. He is also right it's easier and time efficient to change the back glass completely instead of doing the camera glass alone. There a price difference but not too much.
The camera replacement kit comes with the glass and the tape together. You will have hardtime finding the tape only unless you buy standard tape and cut to fit the camera dimensions
@@ersbit I replaced it twice, always after some time I get a lot of dust inside on the glass and the picture quality gets bad. I don't have a fußt free room
Did you test the cameras before installing the new camera glass? If it's blurry currently you'll need to remove the glass clean the camera module or even remove the back to better clean it then test to see if it's working fine. Reinstall the new camera glass. If all these doesn't work you'll need a new camera module.
I did replaced my glass from service centre but I guess there were some finger print and some pieces of glass were left can that make the camera blurry Because after I glass changed it the camera is out of focus and hella blurred on normal mode. Can you tell that it is the reason or is my camera lens got destroyed 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
The camera need to be cleaned but there's no guarantee to go back to original pictures/videos quality. You'll probably need a new camera in case the sensor got dirty
the cleaning would have gone a lot faster and better (still a lot of residue there when you claimed it was finished) with some 99% isopropryl alcohol...
I did try alcohol but the glue was getting more stickier and liquify which was making it more difficult to remove. Best way is to go slower/less heat on the camera glass to removed the tape without any sticky remaining
DON'T USE HEAT. Not even a hair dryer. I was skeptical about using heat tool. I use a hairdryer very very briefly because I was very nervous. What I predicted came true. My phone stopped working. No ability to tap on screen. Went out and spent over 1,000 to replace what I had
I just removed the broken glass with hot water placed inside a sealed zip line plastic bag... i held it for 2-3 mins and it came off smoothly... just thought id mention this idea here... but yeah i agree with you there is no way to do this without heat.

Are all tools used in the kit?
Most of the tools are in the kit. They try to provide the necessary stuff to complete it.
Have you done a lens replacement on a Moto 5G UW? I have a one with a broken lens. Great video.

Can you use Goo-gone on the tape? Apply to a paper towel or something?
Yes you can do it. You will need to be careful not to touch camera or drop liquid inside.
Good job
Great thank you
Will this change the IP rating of the phone
Yes. Most likely. I recommend to avoid water specially Submerging the whole device!!
