It has just been two days and my face has began to heal and peel. I continue to use aquaphor and remain out of sunlight.
I have had squamous cell skin cancer and Mohs surgery twice. My last visit to my dermatologist I was diagnosed with actinic keratosis. I was prescribed a chemotherapy compound cream of fluorouracil and calcipotriene. After searching youtube, I only found horrific videos from users who used fluorouracil to treat AK. There treatments were long and painful, but I’m told this new advanced duo cream will be faster and less invasive. I will continue to document and upload videos as I progress through this treatment. I will see my dermatologist on Day 10 to determine if I can stop or continue more days. (You can find all the videos in my “skin cancer” playlist: • Skin Cancer )
Here is an article of the Harvard study on the advanced therapy: www.mdedge.com...

Hello and welcome to my channel. I have continued to document my skin cancer journey. I keep a playlist up to date. I’ve spot treated since and recently did the compound cream again all over my forehead and nose, as this video was several years ago. It does work well to kill pre cancer cells however I do not think it works on any basal or squamous cell already serviced. I will be having mohs surgery this summer.

Hi Kathy, thanks for the videos and comments, they have been very informative. I started to get a little concerned about my course of treatment, as by day 14 I had little, to no reaction to the cream and wondered whether it was actually working. I contacted my Dermatologist and she asked me to extend the treatment to 6 weeks, from the original 4.
I really shouldn't have worried as by day 16, I was looking very red indeed and blistering by day 20. Whilst I would say that it is uncomfortable and stings when you apply the cream to the areas that are blistered, it isn't too bad and I am sure that the results will be worth it!

@@Kathysvlogchannel Hi Kathy, no, you are quite right, the cream is 5% Fluorouracil. What confused me was that the information leaflet given to me by the Dermatologist suggested that there should be a reaction by day 7. I guess that was what prompted me to start looking online, to investigate what other people had experienced, and that started to align with my own. Thankfully I only have two weeks to go and then the recovery begins!

Tip: I've done around 10 treatments over the past 3 years - face, scalp, arms, chest, thighs, etc - using the combo over different periods, usually 3 weeks (yes, probably too long), and THE best relief I've had from the intolerable, interminable itching/stinging/burning post treatment is vitamin E oil from those little 400mg oral caplets. It's messy, but boy does it work. Just warm them up in your hand a bit (so the oil is thinner to aid application), bite into one end, squeeze the oil onto your fingers and gently rub it in. Nothing else I've tried gives the relief that vitamin E oil gives. And it lasts quite a while so you can get some sleep.
