In many ways I like the performance of the d minor violin sonata much better than the Heifetz recordings that I grew up with. Mr. Tortorelli doesn't have the absolute steely technical perfection of Heifetz (FWIW, I wish that I had half as fine a technique in my playing as Mr. Tortorelli). That said, he and his sonata partner, Ms. Meluso, have so much subtlety, nuance, and playfulness in their readings of these pieces and, with their gracious sense of style, open new windows into the meanings of this music. Their reading of the Berceuse, Op 38 is so beautiful that it brings tears to my eyes. I'd love to know what his violin is. He draws a wonderful, rich, beautifully articulated sound from it with a wide dynamic range. The album is wonderfully recorded with nice balances that slightly favor the violin but still let the piano come through clearly with a beautiful, crystalline sound.
In your debt once again BC. These were refreshing and exciting. Thank you for presenting so many of Saint-Saens' works. He should be regarded as a major composer and I cannot understand why he hasn't been, at least in my eighty plus year lifetime. His work defies the ages and established styles preceding it and to my mind is modern and well suited to the present troubled age. Thank you.
Thank you, Brilliant Classics, for posting this collection of beautiful and calming music, so superbly performed by Mauro Tortorelli and Angela Meluso.
Thank you for posting these superb performances of these beautiful sonatas of Saint-Saens; the tempi chosen by these artists is [for me!] excellent- well reasoned and not too fast! And the playing is absolutely wonderful!
The 1st violin sonata by Saint Saens was probably an inspiration for Marcel Proust and his Vinteuil's violin sonata in "A la recherche du temps perdu". Great music anyway from every aspect!!!
This video is truly beautiful and I absolutely love it! But, I was wondering why it had ads in them, I personally do not like ads when I'm listening to classical music because it's very disturbing, and in the description, I don't see anything copyrighted so maybe you could remove the ad somehow if that's not too much of a request. Thank you.
@@isaacjajo4023 I'm really sorry if that offended you, but I was just simply making a small request. They could decline if they wanted so, I don't think that this comment was very necessary, not trying to offend you or anything.

午後の陽光、木々の間をすり抜ける風、仄かな土の温もり、花の香り、虫の羽音すら感じる生命力にあふれた音。

@@TunaTheFishOfficialYT You are very welcome. Please note that I made a mistake in my comment, though. (I fixed it.) I meant Malwarebytes' extension.
Does anyone recognize the album artwork? It looks like an Impressionist, Monet perhaps, but I'd like to know for certain. Thank you!
The painting is called Under the Lilacs by Frederick Childe Hassam
@@BrilliantClassics Thank you so much!
"Vision congolaise" would hardly be a "tribute to the composer’s fascination with the East"...
