Love this boat man, sexiest lines ever and it's got that Miami juiciness. Big B, you got me into boats just recently and I'm proud to be a member of the Boat Gang! I'm tinkering and tuning a UDI Arrow and all your vids have been really good help. I would have added 15kph or more to the stock speed and still on stock electrics. Thanks for all the tips and can't wait for the next upload!

What a great, informative and down to earth video, super for us beginners, thanks!!
I have a couple of questions relating to building my first own boat.
First, I have drawn and a catamaran style speed boat in 2 sizes, 36" and 44". I have srared 3D printing both to get a feel for size. I plan to use dual 4068 Kv 1700 engines, dual 150 Amp ESC's and dual 6S 65C 5 Amp batteries. I am not after super speed and would prefer building the 44" version, will power be enough?
Second question is the drive shaft. I thought it was necessity to use flexible drive shafts to get horisontal propeller mounting, but is it ok to use a rigid drive shaft and what is max down pointing angle of the shaft?
Also, if I use a flexible drive shaft for these motors, should the shaft be 4 mm or 4,78 mm or 1/4"?
Again, thanks for my kind of film/info!

36 & 40 inch hull is need at least a .187 flex cable with 3/16 stub shaft. I'd stay away from straight shaft setups, just use a flex cable

To Ironclad, I am learning a lot like a bumch of other guys and this is a battery power thing. I run the proboat sonicwake all stock. 2- 7.4v lipos in series the boat is about 32mph and there is no heat on the esc or motor, maybe 95f, but the batteries get hot, 129f, 135f.... 7200mah, 100c..Then 3 of the same batteries in series, not as hot but the motor and esc is just warm, 112f, 115f, but batteries 125f, 134?? 139F.. Motor and esc are fine no matter what, but why are my batteries so hot? Thank You

    • @IRONCLADRC

I'd use bass wood or balsa wood, 16" & up use bass wood 16" & under Bala should do the trick. I used thick plywood for this boat and I regretted it way to heavy ....
3/32 bass wood should be perfect for a mono hull 16-24" use alcohol or ammonia to soak the wood in so you can bend the wood with out breaking it

Greetings friend; i have a few electric boats; different categories; great fun; but what really brings me here is the fact that i just purchased a barelyused, no longer available, deep vee, Enforcer type 50 inch long x 14 inch wide and about 12 pounds of weight with no engine; fiberglass hull with all of the outdrive already installed. The flex shaft is a 1/4 inch with a stock 79 P1.4 metal prop already installed. Sinnce money is of no issue; I'd like to convert this gasser into a clean, quieter and more efficient hassle free machine. In other words; brushless'
I really love this hull; and i intend to keep it for a long time'
I want to go fast; but not that fast; sport racing speeds; no blistering competition speeds; just a tad more than the 26cc gasser that this thing used to have before i bought it'
If its possible; and based on the provided data; could you recommend the type of gear I should get in order to make this conversion possible?
I would really appreciate your attention on this matter'
Ps; your instructionsl videos are very insightful and a Godsend'
I'll patiently await your response to this request'

The Kv rating is the RPM of the motor (k) per volt (V) with no load. For example, a brushless motor with a Kv rating of 3000 powered by a 12V power source would be capable of 36,000 RPMs (multiply 3000x12). This is the max RPMs that this motor can reach under no load
