As a independent plumber I carry a little 18 volt Ridgid brand vacuum cleaner in my service truck for cleaning up after these kinds of under sink jobs. Many of my customers are pleased by the use of it, it is probably one of the most effective though little things I do to keep my customers happy and loyal to me. Heck, sometimes I run it a few minutes just for "marketing" when there was almost nothing to clean up. LOL.
If I called the plumber and knew he was coming over, I'd have cleaned out the bottom cabinet to give him room to work. There would be no dishes in the sink.
Same here. I clear everything out, including washed dishes on drying mat. I clear all my workspaces for: plumbing, electrical, painting, cleaning house, etc. etc.etc.
That garbage disposal was down right gross, it had gone way passed its life span! Steven, you are true plummer; you fix the customer's problem all while interacting with the customer in "small talk". Great job!
A little tip if you plug up a Garbage Disposal, in good condition with roughage. Get as much water out of the Sink as you can. Pour One to One and a Half Cups of Table Salt into the Disposal. Let it set overnight, and try the a Disposal in the morning. The Salt, breaks down the Cellular Structure of the Potato Peels, Cabbage, Celery, Etc. BTW, This doesn’t work on Dish Cloths or Coins run down the Disposal. Never use a Drain Cleaner in a Disposal!
Not sure if you read all these damn posts, but you crack me up bro. I usually don't talk politics with my customers cuz libtards get their feelings hurt if you say "yes mam or thanks bro", lol. I wish I would have had someone like you for a boss over the 25 plus years I worked for other companies. I've been running my own thing for over ten years now, thank our Lord. Thx. for the info, vids, and entertainment. God bless bro.
Hey Steve, I need a charge for my compressor unit on my central air. I'm in Orange County, CA - the part that likes and voted for Trump! I'll send you the tickets, how much for the service call and per pound of refrigerant? Wish we had guys like you here. Honest, fair and hard working. Would enjoy it if were my neighbor, seem like such an easy going, nice person. Best wishes.
I never could understand why people want garbage disposals. As a plumber, I know first hand that a lot of people abuse their kitchen drain, dumping bacon grease and everything under the sun. I personally would never have one, just throw my scraps in the garbage can 5' away in the pantry.
It would be a nasty job , but technically speaking that clog could have been cleaned out. The plastic thing you ripped out is an intentional part of the unit. It's the inner drain piping , which exits the disposal at high velocity (the spinning disposal has a powerful centrifugal pumping effect).. If the flow out of the inner tube encounters an obstruction in the trap,, it has a path back up to the disposal/sink by flowing back into the space between the inner and outer drain tubes. So..never rip out that plastic piece .. that being said, I can understand choice of replacing the unit, based on the type of homeowner and fact that a replacement unit was already on hand. But for a handy homeowner just clean out the clog and leave the plastic alone and it'll run fine again..
I installed a new Disposal after the old one started leaking. Previously it drained perfectly fine but now it drains slow with just water. It helps a little if I open up the rubber flapper but it's still slow. Turning on the disposal helps a little. The problem is worse with food debris. It's a single drain sink with 1hp disposal and correct 1.5" pipe size with a Dishwasher. No other draining issues in the house. I'm at my whits end with it. Everything looks like it should be fine and we had no draining issues before the new disposal. Anyone have any ideas?
I have exactly the same problem with the new disposal (American Standard). I had no problem with the old one, as I recall I got it from Sears. Hope we can get help from here. I got a big issue when I prepared the fish or chicken, the sink looks messy because the draining way with the disposal in ON status. Please help
Looks like lock ring was not engaged all the way. I grab the lock ring and flange with channel locks and squeeze to rotate lock ring against flange on all three tabs, make sure disposal is locked on.
Yes, the newer codes say they are plug in. But, depending on local codes, a replacement can be Grandfathered in. Also newer codes call for a Clean-out after the connection for both sinks.
Sorry to say - plunger does absolutely nothing, because you are losing all the plunging pressure to the dishwasher hose, attached to the side of garbage disposer. That piece of plastic you pulled out is actually part of the interior of the garbage disposer. Once you tore it off - there is no going back. You have to replace entire garbage disposer
Oooh now i see the difference. This sweet dog is a short hair. And this one looks a bit old. I guess this dog is in dog heaven now? What a lovely dog. I am so sorry for you.
According to the Farmers Almanac- "Yeast helps keep bacteria alive and actively breaks down waste solids when added to your septic system. Flush ½ cup of instant dry baking yeast down the toilet, the first time. Add ¼ cup of instant yeast every 4 months, after the initial addition". Mar 23, 2015
2 X per YEAR To get it "REALLY" kicking - put 1/4 cup of Activated YEAST in a bucket with 1/4 cup of sugar _ ADD VERY Warm Water (120-125 degrees) and let sit 30 minutes - flush down toilet. Best time to add is before showering or washing clothes. I've used this method for 30+ years and not a failure to date. (I suggest this be done when "DST" change so it's remembered)
ZE KENZY The first one he brushes on cleans the PVC. With out using it, you don't always get a good bond. Second one is the PVC cement. It bonds the joints together. Typically takes 10-15 seconds for the joints to bond, so you've got to work quickly, and be absolutely sure the pieces are in the orientation you want them.
Good job Steve. When you said the picture of Hillary made you want to take a good shit I bust out laughing! Maybe Trump has a picture of her in his bathroom for the same reason!
DRAIN the swamp disposal ..hehehe... ALSO if you had happened to grab a pink toothbrush from the bathroom and use it to clean the disposal NO one would blame ya
I knew sooner or later You'd have a customer that I don't like. I would have charged him more for being a dumb ass. He admits Trump has good ideas but he hates him. All He wants is to make this a safer ,better place to live. Why would anyone not want that?
LOL... Love the political commentary during this job... haha Hopefully his grandkids won't hear him say he gets board at some of their functions... haha
I know this was five yrs ago but your dialogue with this guy on Clinton/Trump and Obummer was priceless......good to know there are self thinking people in your neck of the woods......btw that disposal was disgusting.
Yup, if the girlfriend was there she would have asked you to leave. Even if this guy is a millionaire he lives like a pauper, a guy who fixes Whirlpool appliances for a living lives more like a millionaire because he'll spend a few on a vacation or a good dinner and a new garbage disposal. I had a good customer and friend that was so cheap he made his kids take off their glasses if they weren't looking at something to make their glasses last longer.
The best part of your videos is your interaction with the customers. "That picture of Hillary made me want to take a shit" Classic.

I see this all the time, its amazing to me that people are this clueless or don't care.
I hardly ever see anyone clean out a space to work. Always have to move their stuff out of the way
@Marc Harry definitely, I have been watching on flixzone for months myself =)
Same here. I clear everything out, including washed dishes on drying mat. I clear all my workspaces for: plumbing, electrical, painting, cleaning house, etc. etc.etc.
I love you even more now steve. Hillary dump joke was awesome.
That garbage disposal was down right gross, it had gone way passed its life span! Steven, you are true plummer; you fix the customer's problem all while interacting with the customer in "small talk". Great job!
"long as they're all yours"... Nice!
Haha, that's what I was thinking! _Savage!_
The "good shit" comment made me choke up my coffee....hahahahaha
No wonder this guy's plumbing backs up. Look at that creative plumbing connections!
this one was excellent. new plumber here. Thanks Steve.
Enjoyed the video. Good fix and enjoyed the conversation.
Strangely, I enjoyed the conversation more than the removal and installation...
Best video uploaded be Steven by far. And had nothing to do with plumbing except the Hillary toiletries.

nice work Steve! garbage disposal can be trickey to work on a lot of the time.I know ,you do a great job as all ways. you all.!!!!!!!!!
This video proves that plumbers know more than anyone. I love my democrat clients...I charge them double.
Awesome job and great conversation to lol
Quality job Steve but that guy sounds like his shit don't stink.
Not sure if you read all these damn posts, but you crack me up bro. I usually don't talk politics with my customers cuz libtards get their feelings hurt if you say "yes mam or thanks bro", lol.

As long as there all yours lmao
Nice garbage disposal. Good install,Steve
That old disposer was a primo unit in its day - stainless body looked brand new. The replacement won’t last nearly as long.
Very good Steven!
I'm a Trumper Steve!
Always good work Steve.
Romex connectors are overrated :P good video, Steve.
You should work out an advertising deal with Hefty.
I love your shirt’s design that comes with a vent from your hip 🤣
Nice work Steve! Flippin obama hillary lovers...LOL. What you going to do, just keep working! LOL
I feel bad for whoever gets to drink from that kitty cat coffee cup baaaahhhahaha schmoo scrape
Nice job and video like always Steven
"As long as they're all yours." That's too funny.
The electrical connection work on the new disposal before you actually installed it, looked a little complicated.
I hate plumbing, but I love watching Steven!
hope that was the Hillary lovers coffee cup

Next level. New level.

same here...only restaurants need them.
I agree, however, it's a good selling feature when a rube wants to buy your house.
Composting is way better than a garbage disposer. No more clogged drains and big plumbing bills!!!
hey steven you do a nice job!
hope that cat coffee cup was the girlfriend's ;)
HAHAHAHAHA!
Love that you told him that he was watching too much CNN!
"they havent proven it yet but they will" ah yes guilty until proven innocent
MAGA!! ........subbed!
Caught with his hand in the cookie jar? Didn't even take a pay check. Let's go Brandon

Making America Great! Go Trump!!! Big respect for Steve calling it like it is
Is that garb orator not classed as a appliance that needs a sj cord and a plug to a recptical? I hate connecting #12 or 14 in wee spaces

The way you used your foot to hold the disposer. I hope I am that flexible at your age.
Nice 👍🏾
Oooh now i see the difference. This sweet dog is a short hair. And this one looks a bit old. I guess this dog is in dog heaven now? What a lovely dog. I am so sorry for you.

Yup, if the girlfriend was there she would have asked you to leave. I feel it is bad to talk politics with customers, because if you are not on the same page it creates resentment!
