First 😉
I could watch this all day.
The variety of options that you are able to run through and explain in a wedge fitting video is much more entertaining/instructive/attention-retaining than other club testing content.
Having Chris Hemsworth on camera as your short-game instructor doesn't hurt either.
😂 wedge fittings around great short game areas are great
Totally agree and the selection can practically be done just by listening to the strike
Fascinating to me. The actual difference on the clubs will be tiny, but user impact is clearly huge. Duncan made a great point that it's OK for grinds not to work. I suspect too many will have an idea of what they "need" when it's actually what they "want".
Incidentally, I actually got a notification for this one after adjusting my settings.
Absolutely
Perfect, thanks for checking 🙏 it’s a huge help
Dan Grieve is an eye opener for me. So simple
Yeah, he has a great book
It was Duncan something
I’m a senior guy coming back into the game after 20+ years. Back in the day my short game was my always my Achilles heel (except putting), and coming back it’s still the same. I’ve had lessons and tried a variety of wedges - Jaws, CB Zipcores, etc, but nothing seemed to work. Recently, whilst playing with my son I tried out his Vokeys. Wow, what a difference! I couldn’t go for a fitting, so I picked a couple of options based on the App’s recommendations and tryouts on the store’s Trackman. My short game is so much better, and Dan’s comment about ‘throwing the club at the ball’ resonates with me - one of my selections is the 56. This session was super interesting and reinforced some of my own findings. As my game improves, I’ll definitely be delving into the grind and bounce options more, but for now I do have clubs that get me on the dance floor more often from close in and that in itself is a new experience!
I think this was superb. Shows there are so many options and combinations, with lofts bounce and grinds. So interesting to hear the thinking and science working with how the player feels. Great video.
Good luck, Dan. New driver, 3 and 5 woods. New T100's. New wedges. Should be ready for whatever comes your way.
I have some kind of 52° Ping clone, and Wilson 56°and 60° wedges. Still about 2 months before I can start chipping. This whole year has been a washout for me. Cheers from Texas. 🏌️⛳🤠
I need a wedge fitting like this. Great job Dan.
Looking forward to seeing you back on your short game Dan
Always been intrigued by the grind options. Now understand that you need to be competent and confident with a repeatable swing for specific approaches *before* grinds (bounce and loft) can be effectively determined to aid your game.
Get your swing and swing thoughts right before selecting grind.
Was in Woburn yesterday and I’ve never had a wedge fitting like that before completely blew my mind. Duncan was amazing and it was a real eye opener on how the grind can really effect your strike.
That wedge app is a geat tool and couple that with been able to go and play all the shots on grass it just fills you with confidence you have the right wedges
Love watching and listening to the process of fitting
Such a great watch , a real insight to the different make up with bounce and grind , also love the lead foot tap you and Bernie both have as your trigger .
Always jealous when I see these videos Dan! Can’t imagine how far I’d have to drive to find somewhere like that, that would let me actually hit clubs on grass and in sand, not into a screen off of turf. I only get to play about once a week for 3 months a year, so sadly it would likely cost about a months worth of golf as well. He does a great job with you every time, very positive! Honestly I was kind of hoping that first time when he wasn’t letting you see the bottom of the clubs, that they were actually all the same 😂 Enjoy watching these though Dan!
Your excitement is palpable 🎉
Thanks Dan for the heads up on wedges . . . I need a fit out as well.
Brilliant video ill be watching this loads 👍👍
I treated myself to some new Vokey wedges after being made redundant earlier this year - fitting experience was great (albeit very different from this one) and the wedges are awesome - I went 50, 54, 58 from 50, 55, 60
Good stuff Martin 👍
Great video Dan 👍🏾. You are so lucky to be able to do outdoor testing with a wedge and feel exactly how it interacts with the turf. Im up for some new wedges at the end of this season and would love to be able to test outdoors.
I had SM9 fitting at Titleist and got 48F, 54S & 60M, really pleased with them for use in warm weather and firm conditions. In winter when the course is soft I revert to my old Ping glide 2 stealth 48 & 54 including a 58/14. Works for me as the Vokey 60/08 digs too much in soft turf. My irons are Callaway Apex with 43 PW so perfect gapping.
That was awesome!!!
I need to get fitted for wedges.
I learned the game with a 52’ and a 56’ and manipulated them as needed and never liked a 60’.
Thing is with the modern iron lofts the PW is now 44’ - 46’ which means rather than a 52’ a 50’ fills the gap better. Because of that I recently had my 56’ bent to 54’ and put in a 58’. I just can’t get on with it as a 54’, no doubt the bounce will have been affected.
Great to have access to a facility like that to do it.
Love this content Dan
Your so lucky, all the grinds. I play a 56 8 bounce. I have played that club for all my live. I can open close and play different shot with it.
Very interesting vidio. I need new wedges and this was a great fitting.
Great to see you back to your quality play! I am waiting for spring to go for a wedge set up… mine are starting to look a little aged now…
Hey Dan, love the video. I'm probably due for new wedges, have had my current set up for a good 4 or 5 years. Playing Ping 2.0 54 and 58, might need to look at them soon.
What a great video!
Great video Dan, I’ve always had a 56 degree in my bag, which I love, but never really got on with a 60 degree.
I enjoyed watching the fitting - hopefully you will feel happier with the choices - the certainly seemed to be working OK!
Really happy with the 56 Martyn 😁
I have a T grind in the bag I always used high bounce wedges and wasn’t great especially with tight lies but the T grind (4 degrees of bounce) is my go to now around the greens. I’m sure most people wouldn’t get on with it but everyone plays differently that’s why bounce and grind selection is so important.
Bought SM9 without a fitting replacing spec on my SM6 but with D grind versus S grind on the 60 based on the online tool. Would definitely go for a fitting next time though and having just been for a lesson, I’m going to wait until this new swing thought settles a bit first
Another interesting fitting!
Wonderful. Great display of chipping.
Really interesting fitting Dan 👍
This was a good one, so happy to be back into the 56 😍
Great video. The bar is set high though with regards to fitters. Now any fitting short of this level of service is going to feel like we didn’t get what we wanted.
Dan, I urge you to consider reading Dan Greaves "3 Releases" book, superb read.
Really recommend you trying to feature him on your channel next time you're at Woburn.
Got it, great book 📖
Great vlog .. so interesting to see difference bounce and grind make ..
Currently working my way through Dan Grieve book, then, probably new wedge fitting incoming.
Great video.
Got it, great book
Love this content! Please stick with the whole new setup. I love the way classic clubs look, but my scores have come down with more help.
🙏
Would love to have seen you in a lesson with Dan Grieves 👍🏼👍🏼
Fantastic fitting dan i need a wedge fitting i am prone to thining them
Try a wedge lesson first 👍
I have a very similar setup only difference is a 60/10 instead of 60/08. It’s very versatile and covers all bases I come across. A 56/14 is a game saver in fluffy sand and thicker rough.
Striking gold is Finding that just right mix of loft, bounce and grind to fit with your shots and how your eye sees things
Great session! Been watching your game for some time now, and if you are comfortable and committed, your tempo with short game is as good as anyone on your channel, or any other channel for that matter.
I think if you're changing the bounce with Vokey the grind changes too. I could be wrong. The thing too with wedges is that those are the prefect ones for that day and those conditions, elsewhere you may need completely different options
Great video Dan. Similarly got the SM6 52/12F and SM9 56/14F, but can’t get my traditional eye around the look of the vokey 60 grinds 😅. Would love a vokey 60 in low bounce K, but not easy to find out here in Japan. Instead I’ve gone with a classic Cleveland 588 60/06 from around 2001 😊
That was very interesting. I don’t like bounce. I have a 54m8* and 60l4* and mainly chip with the 60. I have a t100 PW@46 and T100 gap @ 50 for full shots. If I don’t have to go up I use the PW. Great 20minutes and very thought provoking.
I started with SCOR 54 and 59 wedges and just ended up with a pair of Callaway Jaws (after a fitting)...
Callaway Wedge--Jaws Raw-RH-Chrome-54.10-S Grind
Callaway Wedge--Jaws Raw-RH-Chrome-60.8-Z Grind
I'm a high handicap and would never have thought I would have ended up with such low bounce or Callaway wedges. Who knew...
Great wedges the Jaws, you getting plenty of spin?
Hi Dan great video the question l ask is If your struggling what should come first a lesson or a fitting? A good lesson could sort you out and safe you money in the long term. It would be inresting to hear your thoughts. Maybe show us with a mid handicapper. Cheers
100% a lesson
Very good video Dan. Has the other titleist fitter moved on?
Yes Nick Drain moved to Scotland, still working in golf 👍
Great club fitting
Wedge fittings are great
Dan have you ever thought of Choking Down a Bit Mate. Your arms are so bent when chipping you may have some inconsistent Strikes. Just my 2 cents of info
Think the Woburn facility looks world class, one day May have to stump up the cost and go for a look.. one point about the video, I couldn’t help notice as you pitch and chip you lift your left toe slightly and open up your front foot.. my mate used to do similar and it caused him to be inconsistent as his coach said it was because he want keeping enough weight on his left side, meaning his transfer wasn’t the same.. he made him Practice with a golf ball under his left heel and work on maintaining consistent pressure.. his chipping has come on loads.. as for wedges and grinds being techy I could spend hours and hours just hitting balls and looking at the different flights.. 💥💥👍👍
Great video Dan really interesting. I currently use a Vokey 54F grind for everything could never get on with a 60 or a 50 so I need to review this and look at it again. I'm presuming that your suggesting 3 wedges for a golf bag setup? Thanks John
All depends on you gapping John, you need to consider top end also 👍
I imagine the SM10’s will be coming out soon
Not sure there are any wedges that suits my short game even though very entertaining and informative video!
Play with Taylor made wedges. I am thinking about going back to Vokey
No idea what that magic machine runs on but if you duff 3 in a row does it recommend a chipper??
😂 if only Titleist made them
50,55,60. Perfect gapping from a 46 pw.
How come you did not get Will Harvey to fit you?
I know its trivial, but at the end duncan just flicks those balls up easily into the bag like I know most pros can. Please show us how
😂 years of practice
@DanHendriksenGolf ok Dan I asked for it and you delivered. But give us 2 mins of hints please. 250 drives are beyond me but wedge pick ups is serious bragging
How much is a club fitting there? Got to be 💲💲💲💲
No it will be £££ 😂
£500
@@DanHendriksenGolf irons and wedges?
Certainly looks like you've found your mojo again, Dan. I'm never quite sure if having a wedge fitting as an 18 HCP would be beneficial. I'm sure someone will be telling me I'm wrong, but, I would feel quite intimidated going to Titleist centre for a fitting. Great video though.
Hope the t grind gets a test
😬
👍
The 56 is back 😂😂😂 happy?
You've been trying to get 56 back in for ages...
You know it, I have it now and love it 😍
Not related to this content, but the Sunday morning 20th August. Feel like you should just be more honest about your objectives regards the channel. We all have to make a living your subscriber levels have stayed relatively low and you have a lot of people involved in the content bottom line seems to be 46k subscribers isn't enough to sustain an income between you. A lot of the vlogs titles are clearly clickbait and I'm someone who genuinely likes a lot of what you put out.Selling of the merchandise is another instance of an intrusion into watching content. Probably will be heavily criticised for these comments but feel more honesty would be a better option, 😊
Brilliant Dan, glad you are so happy with your wedges, hopefully you can break 60 on a regular basis on the scrambles now 😉⛳️🏌️♂️
Great fitting , was surprised Dans ball position not correct, shows even better players don’t always get it right 🏌🏻♂️
I think it’s quite common, the more nervous you get the more it goes back 😂
