A very good friend of mine in Croatia, who passed away from a heart attack back in 2007, had a room full of equipment: A Mesa Boogie MKIII, Fender Twin Reverb Amp, Marshall and Vox's, loads of effects and guitars, hundrets of records which datet back to his youth when he was 15 and other good stuff and memorabilia. All this went for a incredibly low price - I think 2.000 Euros. His mother sold the stuff to a lucky guy who took the opportunity. She had no clue what she was selling. I asked her for his favourite guitar, a Fender Strat, kind of the Eric Clapton "Blackie". He used to play that guitar all day long and I would have bought it to keep it in his memory but it was gone with the hole package. It's sad when everything you hold dear goes away for dirt cheap because you can't take it with you.
I had a similar thing with a very good friend who passed away about 20 years ago. His widow sold the Gibson Les Paul that he used to play regularly in his band and also taught me with. I would've paid a decent price, not only because it was of sentimental value to me, but they had 4 young children to support when he died. :(
Dunno if the guy who’s storage locker you bought passed, it’s exciting and yet I find it a little sad when we see the history and past collections of fellow musicians no linger with us ❤️
It's really sad that someone would keep that much JUNK! Then leave it up to someone else to finally toss most of it away! I spent like 6 weeks and traveled for Texas to Tennessee to deal with my uncle's estate and do what he was unwilling to do, take 95 percent of his shit to Goodwill and the dump! Crazy what people collect in their lives they can't let go of!
Me too, some poor guys spent a lot of time and money getting the exact equipment that he wants. And at the same time, I'm a little jealous. I'm torn, we'll put it that way. L o l
@@bigjohnson7415I’m in the same boat. Dealing with my moms health as her PoA, doctors, lawyers, trying to sell the house. Finally got out to her house this last summer and 99% of it had to go to the dump, plus she was a heavy smoker so everything reeked. I used to do estate sales, amassed quite a collection of 60’s-90’s t shirts but have been selling them off. Cleaning out someone else’s crap will turn you into a minimalist
Well, you still haven't listened regarding how you treat Vinyl LPs that you find, because that Ray Charles, Modern Songs in Country and Western, if in really good condition, I've seen selling for up to $300. From what I can see of the one you got there, that's in fair to good condition. But you still kinda chuck these things around like they're not "delicate" pieces of history. Later on you find another box with classical / malmsteen / satriani. I honestly cannot take watching you put albums back into a box. I'm sorry. Those albums look like the owner TOOK REALLY GOOD CARE OF THEM. You slam 'em back down in the box like they got concrete shielding. argh
Another nice score Dane! Yes, put those Acoustics back in order!! That Bandmaster is worth restoring... a plethora of pedals. Looking forward to Part 2!!
Dude, you passed right by Billy Cobham’s Spectrum album, a monumental jazz album from Cobham’s early career lol. (I know it’s not what you are into) I still have my original copy of that and several that you went through including the Robben Ford early solo release. Great stuff Zimm!
Very insightful stuff!! I only started learning guitar 7 weeks ago and I'm documenting my entire learning journey on here so this was super motivational!

As an avid collector of many things myself, I found this video very difficult to watch someone vulturing through someone else’s stuff. I recently attended an estate sale in an affluent suburb near my house. Initially, I felt great walking out of there with hundreds of dollars worth of authentic, signed NHL hockey jerseys, but I later found out that the previous owner had been collecting sports memorabilia his entire life but was later diagnosed with terminal cancer and died at the age of 48 (5 years younger than me) and that’s when I realized that instead of accumulating more stuff, I need to start selling off all my collections cuz the last thing I want is to die young and have someone rifling through all my stuff having no clue what the value is.
Hey, Zimm, I used to HAVE one of those old Doctor Q envelope followers! This was back in the days before people started mounting their pedals on boards. Back then, pedals tended to be kinda "flavor of the week" to me. Nowadays, I'm strictly digital, so I usually have one available if I want one -- and sometimes they work better anyway -- but seeing that old thing brought it back for me. Thanks.
I moved to a different city a few yrs ago. And found a guitar shop in town. Part of his displays was old rock records on the wall, some for sale. I needed some guitar work so I went to bargain. Couldn't afford it yet so time went on. At a job I got I found some records and grabbed them up. Went to the guitar store and now I had tradebait. Got all my repairs done and made a lifetime friend with those FREE records to me. Never know !
Yo Zimm, that was Johnny Otis' son Shuggie on that album cover you didn't recognize. Half Greek and half black. Signed a deal with Epic at the age of 16 and wrote Strawberry Letter 23 only to have it stolen by Quincy Jones. The Brothers Johnson built a career off that song. Nice to see the original album after all these years.
You said in your first video that were feeling embarrassed and blessed. First video of yours that I have watched - I'm a jock who can hit a golf ball pretty well with good timing but could even hit the beat on the 'triangle' at school aged 7 amd was told to find another class. Sorry, quick FYI as to why I was unlikely to watch one of your posts. Anyway, I digress as the point of my message was ro say that you come across as the most deserved and ideal person to have purchased these storage units. I would go so far as to say the owner is most likely smiling down on you and chuffed his accumulation of all things music is in your modest hands. Good on you. Tom
Passes right past the George Benson Good King Bad LP like an idiot for the tired Satriani LP. There are also some interesting Julian Bream and Segovia LPs too. Gah...
That Nippon acoustic hopefully will work out, Some of the best Yamaha acoustics in the day were the red label nippon gaki's. I assume its the same maker.
Some really great vinyl in there! What you might not find cool, some of us subscribers really dig! Great find so far in my opinion Zimm! Hurry with the next, I love these finds!
Reminds me of the word the old climber Bob Kamps coined for a professional storage-locker buyer-“entrecrapeur.” (He evidently did quite well with it after he retired from teaching, however.)
that’s what it’s going to be when i die, storage space full of music gear including a Fender Vibroverb, a goth Les Paul, tons of old records mostly from the 70’s and 60’s and a giant Yamaha Bass cab, etc etc, effects, midi stuff including the first Roland midi guitar synth. GR-01 i think it is. Lots of tools and camping stuff. I feel bad about leaving my family to deal with it all. Perhaps i’ll just sell a bunch of it as i no longer have space for it and have enough gear to play with on hand.
There were so many valuable classic albums you didn't even recognize. From folk to rock to jazz, great album haul. I also liked that Fender Bandmaster amp, that is a very good find. This is cool stuff to see, glad you got it but also I'm sad someone either lost it or lost their mortal coil for it to be here. Good luck with your musical instrument store (your gonna have to add a antique album area).
Seen Stephen Stills' self titled LP at the end of one of those record crates. . . That's one hell of an album by one hell of a player and person all together. BLACK QUEEN is all that needs to be said.
Nice haul Dane. You killed it on this locker too. How much do you want for the Fender amp foot pedal? It was wrapped in plastic cellophane. I have an early 80’s Fender London Reverb amp with a 5 band equalizer. Just thought that pedal may work with something like it. Mine takes a 1/4 inch jack plug. Awesome Pile of stuff.👍
Lovin this ...I am gonna bet that I have a "Guitar bodies and hats" box in my storage ...I came across a coffee can the other day that I hadnt looked in since my last move 4 years ago...HUNDREDS OF PICKS !!!
Prescription Electronics "Experience" octave fuzz👍. Consider that pedal investigated, also valuable and sought after. I own an early swirl version of that pedal. Boss OC-2 Octave, take good care of that one! Was there a Yamaha Magic Stomp in that box, or no? Those are amazing little effects processors.
Shuggie Otis was Johnny Otis's son and he was produced by Al Kooper. So on that album is the original version of Strawberry letter number 23. Shruggie is still jammin. Ike Cosse turned me on to Shruggie. It's a great album
Now with that VHS tape rewinder you can take all those overdue videos back to Blockbuster and not worry about the rewind fee! Seriously, some cool stuff in that locker. I hope you can repair the old Yamaha acoustic.
wow what a great score. That's obviously someone's life long collection of gear. As a musician of over 30 years, I never kept old stuff. I always sold my old gear to pay for new gear. I get the feeling that the good gear is missing. This guy was definitely a pack rat. The albums I think will have a surprising value if they are in really good condition, which I suspect they will be from a musicians locker. most of the stuff is kind of middling avverage budget gear from the 70's and 80's but theres a few really nice pieces. Still alot of value, definitely over 10k.
I worked as an assistant manager at a storage facility years ago. When units were to be auctioned off the next day, the manager would cut the lock, ransack the unit, and put a cheap lock back on.

That old Fender amp was the find of this locker for me. Had some pretty cool pedals too.

Sure could do without the stupid camel commercials!
Dunno if the guy who’s storage locker you bought passed, it’s exciting and yet I find it a little sad when we see the history and past collections of fellow musicians no linger with us ❤️
I found it kinda sad too, but at least the gear will be going to a place where it is valued and looked after.
It's really sad that someone would keep that much JUNK! Then leave it up to someone else to finally toss most of it away! Yeah something of the vulture about this, that's not to say l wouldn't

The 90’s Prescription Electronics Experience pedal round the 5 minute mark of the video is a great score!
You have something really cool right there!
Eric Johnson's lead tone on "All About You"
That's what I thought that was

Somehow didn’t know who shuggie Otis was either.
Also passed over the Bar Kays album and Suggie Otis ("Zimm: "I don't know who that is")
Rather clueless? Maybe he only knows hair metal n’ such
@@RobertHerndon Shuggie is someone not a lot of people are aware of, good catch on your part.
Also featuring the song "Quadrant 4"(? )that influenced Alex Van Halen in "Hot for Teacher"
Makes me realize how much junk I have just sitting around collecting dust...😜😱
That BAR-KAYS album you had in hand, was OTIS REDDINGS backing band when his plane went down.
Cruises right by the EMGs he's so amazed with the Squire body lol
Very insightful stuff!! I only started learning guitar 7 weeks ago and I'm documenting my entire learning journey on here so this was super motivational!
Good Luck with your Journey!. Just remember, it's all about enjoying yourself and learning something magical. 🙏🤘
Less gear, more practice. My advice.

Def leppard used rockmans also invented by tom sholz from the band "boston"

They say every time an old pedal is found a Josh Scott gets his wings.
pretty good score, I like the bandmaster, how much $$$
The Yamaha REX 50 you thought might be a drum machine is an effects processor

Because I am Australian and 59 years old you sound a little like Wayne's World classic find thanks for sharing. Greg
I saw an Old Kraftsman headstock on the floor. Was there any other guitar-like object connected to it?
That looks like a Prescription Electronics Experience pedal.
That's a great Shuggie Otis album!
That Bruford is a great album. Holdsworth is on it. Need l say more.
NIPPON GAKI.....
THAT'S A WELL BUILT ACOUSTIC!!

Wow! A ton of great stuff!! Asylum Records would probably buy those albums from you and... They're close by your shop! Thanks Dane!
Wow! Cool stuff. He even had some Sabicas records. A person of taste!

Looking forward to seeing what's next. Rock on 🎸
hats guitar bodys and a bobble head dude. i love this guys taste in stuff
"..don't know who that is" Hah. That's Shuggie Otis man!! Play that record!
5:14 he has the box. By the way the Yamaha Rex is a multi effects unit. Hope you do an in depth vid on the haul.
I picked up one of these a few months back for $50 Canadian. It is essentially a desktop version of the SPX90. 🍻

I enjoy your channel, you are so laid back man, I love talking guitars. Thanks from the U.K.
Dave that is so awesome that you opened the guitar store. That takes a lot of courage and effort. Good luck with your new found success with the store
Prescription electronics experience fuzz. One of the best and most expensive fuzz on the market!!!
@13:36 The Master's best album. That is a great find alone.
What's that?
Ni-hice! Great build, good retro look, can't wait to see what you do next!

The MBOX-2 is an older MAudio 2 Channel USB Audio Interface with MIDI In/Out, I have one still...
I could use that Rockman midi footswitch
The box of pedals alone probably paid for the locker! 😂 great finds!
That guy had some serious great records, from Segovia or Cobham to Purple, great fecking collection
I’ll be stopping by the store soon. I live in Canada but my parents have a place in Mesa. See you soon!

Too quick of a look but that Fender footswitch looked exactly like my pro tube Twin footswitch from 94 Twin.
I loved that Guitar Speak record. I had the tape and played it to death back in the 90's.
Back to work Dane have a wonderful afternoon pal good stuff man.🎉🌴🍹
Which Storage was this at ? Public Storage, Lifestorage or Extraspace ? And where is your store

Those albums were quite the score too.
The Nippon acoustic could be a killer guitar.. the MIJ lawsuit acoustics were often better than the originals.
With the resurgence of the popularity of vinyl, those records could be a side sale at your store. It looked like he had some classics.
There was an EMG pickup box in that box with the guitar body.
shows joni mitchell lp and says cat stevens....
Drip Edge on the Bandmaster so probably 68

A very impressive haul. It was worth it just for the Fender Bandmaster and box of pedals!
No 1959 strat laying in a dust covered case?
That reel to reel will make a great pre amp …
1978 for the DrQ. I bought one when it came out.
The black and white striped shirt hanging up there looks just like one that Peter buck of rem used to wear in their early days.

In minute 14...dude, that's some awesome classical albums there
RIP Joey want to see if hes on YT was a great musician with excellent taste in musical gear cannot believe he had so much stuff
At 10:11 that’s Shuggie Otis ! Great album from back in the day man!
I worked as an assistant manager at a storage facility years ago. When units were to be auctioned off the next day, the manager would cut the lock, ransack the unit, and put a cheap lock back on.
I think that guitar pedal is a fuzz pedal. Does it work? If so, are you selling it?
Fascinating to watch these excavations. That Fat Cat Distortion was a great find.
Great little feat sleeve art , neon park. Fender 68 band master , gee !
well Dave another storage locker score. looks like a lot of potential in these items. pedals amps guitars. stuff that lace sensor pick guard in the strat body. lace sensor were great back in the 80s. i look forward to part 2 buddy. great video. am i correct you dont ship items?? let me know Larry
The Shuggie Otis album is what he should be excited about.
Exactly
Check through those albums really well some of that older stuff is quite collectible.
Lace Sensor loaded pickguard...
That Suggie Otis album is worth a listen. His dad was great
Shoot, Shuggie is great! He was Prince before Prince.
Really hope you didn’t blow more than about $250 on that locker.
That Bruford record has Allan Holdsworth on it.....Bruford was also the drummer for Yes, as well as King Crimson.....
Score dude! Find out what the mystery pedal does!
Martin Denny album! Quite village is an awesome one.
You'll probably make all your money back on the vinyl.
thats a great shuggie otis record, i believe it has strawberry letter 23, he wrote it... his dad wrote hand jive, jonny otis, you know the guy with his own tv show.
Love Zimm’s videos! Keep it up man!
Hi zimm,do you have any lefties guitars? Thanks jim k.
Those art tube preamps make great di boxes for acoustic guitars
🤟😁👍Big score on the Bandmaster head.
Prescription Electronics Experience Pedal awesome pedal
Wow, great buy my friend!
So, perhaps a dumb question, but I’ll ask. When you buy a locker, are you responsible for getting everything out of it or just take what you want and leave the rest? I never do see anyone hauling everything away.
I’m assuming you’re responsible for disposing of everything, including the trash and junk you don’t want.
Those Nippon-Gakki Yamahas are really good players!
5:15 looks like a Prescription Pedals Experience. Awesome pedal.
