Brother, you are the man. I think a slingshot is one of the finest, most underrated survival tools ever. Now, if I could only shoot one worth a crap, LOL.
Its all about a good slingshot for the first mont of my slingshot shooting experenc i was shooting a slingshot with tubes on it and couldnt hit the brood side of a barn. then i watched bill Hayes on youtube and built one like his with flat bands. I picked it up quick once i had the right gear.
I am 46 years old, I have just started shooting slingshot again after about 35 years, with the price of rifle ammo going up I took this up again !! It, to me, is almost as satisfying as pulling a trigger !!
Wait!!! I had no idea that you have a UA-cam channel!!! The irony is that I saw your love for slingshots on Alone, and was inspired by it so much that I bought my very first slingshot. I hope I'm not being gauche when I say that your performance on Alone was riveting, and it was a reminder of how to elevate ones sense of humanity in trying times. I owe you a huge debt of gratitude for inspiring me to get out there and face challenges head on. You are the man! Now, let the lessons continue. ☮️
An empty tank can still blow up it's still got some gas in it even though it seems like there's not unless you've had it open for about a year it can still blow up
Today is my first time watching this video and I really notice those propane tanks right when he was talking about safety lol I went straight away down to the comments to see if anybody else commented on it. PS love you videos Man
+The Wooded Beardsman the scout can do it if its not cold with half inch steel right in the head and if close the side would do it with biger like 3/4 steel
I've been following your channel for a few months now but shooting a sling shot for years and was no good at it with ur tutorial I've improved greatly in only a couple of weeks
Thanks so much for this video because I'm testing out my very first slingshot and your video helped me to better prepare my practice medium and also take safety precautions.
Love that target box, Fowler! Great lesson, however, I think you forgot to wear safety glasses...safety first, sir. I bought an Axiom Champ off your site and, brother, I love it! So much more ergonomic than my Daisy models which are being retired to a box in the attic. I want to buy another model, the Scout, which can accommodate the surgical tubes as well as the flat bands. The Scout and a Bug Out Bottle will go into my Bug Out Bag. Thanks for turning me onto Simple Shot!
I get another look at the barn, typical early 1900's balloon frame with the 6x top plate, all sawn, it also looks like a tie beam was clipped out to make for the upper floor as an after thought. Watch out for slow drift from rafter spread, it happens but takes years. Also a little sag in the plate, check the foundation. How about a sloped trench with a hole and a can for catching shot? Or a magnet to collect, electric flip the switch to activate and flip again to release the shot when collecting. I like the hole and the can better though.
I have a magnet on a stick for the ones that end up on the floor and i was thinking of making a hole with a track that would sort the different size shots into different bins. Ya the barn needs some work i'm going to take out that upper floor the rest of the way and put in cables to prevent it from spreading. Then i have to jack up the middel of the floor and the list goes on .....
really love your videos.... it got me into slingshot actually.... could you also make a video on how to aim a slingshot for targets which are far away and also at higher altitudes (angles).
great set up and advice. Not many people really dive into the safety aspects of something like a slimgshot. they see it as a toy and pay the price when one comes flying back. what's the biggest game you've taken with one?
I just got my new scout XT yesterday. I noticed right away the bands seem really soft. The package said for "all around use" vs intermediate vs advanced. Just by feel from a few shots last nite what bands do you recommend for more power for that slingshot. I just want a bit more resistance, or should I just shorten the bands? thanks in advance.
Zach, I’ve been watching your videos over the last couple days as I have order a simpleshot axiom ocularis. This is my first sling shot so I’ve been wanting to learn different techniques. The one thing I have not seen yet is a discussion about eye dominance. I am right hand but left eye dominate. Wouldn’t be better to shoot left handed or right handed in this situation? When it comes to rifles I have to shoot left handed.
I should’ve watched this before slinging, I kinda just found my way, I hold the sling shot sideways and twist the pouch so it is flat against my cheek. After two weeks of training every day I started to hit my targets constantly
Being a newbie I'd hit the propane tank under your catch box and blow up the house.. Thank for the videos.. Learning a lot.. Want to be able to hunt small game when the shtf 2021..
As I'm sure you know by now it all depends on your bandset as to what ammo will have the best performance. I love my scout I got 10 + Years ago. It's my favorite of the three simple shot slingshots I own. Most guys target practice with the 3/8ths 55 grain weight, but 7/16 at 87 grain weight is much better for hunting at a decent speed. Those 2 sizes are probably my favorite, but I make my own bands, and shoot 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, and the 130 grain 1/2 inch steel which I feel is the best for hunting if you can get it above 200 fps. It easily carries the most energy that or my 144 grain .457 cal lead. About 12 foot lbs of energy. 11mm ,or 7/16 at 87 grains may be better only because it's moving faster for less time for animal to react if interested in hunting. Band length ,width, band thickness, and tapers will all determine best ammo for a given band set up.
watch the first on in the playlist for shooting instruction. ua-cam.com/video/iSfNMB91o30/v-deo.html this one its most likely how you are pinching the ammo and tweaking the pouch see what im saying in this video toward the middle when i talk about how to shoot and you wont do it
anyone else notice the lp gas tanks near the target box? I don't think they would explode, but could be a great experiment, hint hint hint. see you in Georgia for the bushcraft campout.
I have a slingshot with cross hairs and a level. There are 5 little circles, I'll assume these are some type of measurement for aiming. It also came with some type of colored filament which I guess weaves in and out the holes. Can someone explain the purpose of the colored filament?
Shit, when I had a wrist rocket at like age 9 or 10 I just used an old steel Maxwell House coffee can about 25 yards away. The blessings of living in the middle of a godforsaken scorched patch of a desert is noone lives around you for a couple of miles in any direction
Before you start shooting everyday, if your slingshot has a wrist brace, check if its secure, just yesterday my brace broke and my slingshot flew into my face tearing a small hole that needed stitches, easily could have lost an eye, stay safe.
I know they're illegal in some places but do you ever use wrist supported sling shots? I grew up with "wrist rockets" and I notice they're not very popular among sling shotters.
Its just not that important to support the wrist. With flat tapered bands you can achieve higher speeds than those old wrist rockets ever had. Flat bandsWith their greater amount of elasticity Are so much more accurate,It really makes a huge difference
propane tanks below your catch box. catch box right in front of a staircase. I'm not talking shit, but reevaluate your definition of safety if you're going to talk about it.

Thanks for the great advice. I have had both slingshot types over the years and yes, I believe you are 100% correct!
I am 46 years old, I have just started shooting slingshot again after about 35 years, with the price of rifle ammo going up I took this up again !! It, to me, is almost as satisfying as pulling a trigger !!
Agreed

2:55 "Hard to miss at this distance" Haha! I think many of us would disagree with that generalization.
:)
I want to buy that dude
Erinda Van Aswegen comma’s use em
I love how you have two propane tanks below your catch box lol
LoL Old empty ones i put there just to make fun of my self :)
An empty tank can still blow up it's still got some gas in it even though it seems like there's not unless you've had it open for about a year it can still blow up

PS love you videos Man
Cody James a bow with a 60 pound draw wouldnt blow up a propane tank
Jose Ortiz a slingshot wont blow up a propane tank
Will a slingshot kill a hare/rabbit, what kind of rig do you need? Where you do need to aim (head/vitals)?
+The Wooded Beardsman the scout can do it if its not cold with half inch steel right in the head and if close the side would do it with biger like 3/4 steel
Are you selling bands too? Would you need to double up at all?
i have bands and double band sets for sale on the website. Singal bands work grate with half inch and smaller and double for bigger stuff.
I wanna buy slingshot will u sale it to me
I've been following your channel for a few months now but shooting a sling shot for years and was no good at it with ur tutorial I've improved greatly in only a couple of weeks
Good reminder about frame whacks & safety. I like the box
Thanks !

The rabbits are the toughest you have to be very accurate and get them in the head for the most part.
Nice, now I only need to find a place to shoot.
Isn't it bad to have two 20 lbs propane tanks below your target?
Depends on what could explode
Thats how we get the makery and mischief
Only if you miss
Very awesome shooting sir! Great video.
Thanks
Great not to miss the balls. Cat box! Very good!
YA MAN !
I love you videos man!!!!!

Great video man. Especially liked the safety tips for newbies (me).. Thanks…

Great tips on shooting for beginners!!
good advise all round. they are illegal here in Australia but we still have them
Really waw such a strang thing to make illegal
Great video buddy.
You should make a pipe going from the bottom of the box to the candy dispenser with all your ammo
Watching every episode
THE BEST IDEA
Thanks for teaching me im about to get a new slingshot.
My father made me one
excellent drawing my friend.
Chickens with acorns? So you are the one responsible for Chicken Little and The Sky Is Falling LOL.
Thanks for lessons
Pssssst... you got a new subscriber
Hey buddy, fun video! We met at LL this summer. Good to see you on youtube! -CD

What size ammo media do you recommend?
What size ammo are you using in the video? Was wondering if I should use 3/8 or 7/16. I just purchased the Scout LT

Where's your safety glasses ????
YOU'RE GONNA PUT YOUR EYE OUT !!!!
Joe Fuller im not vood at taking my own advice
come to the southeastern slingshot tournament in Alabama in September. All the top shooters in the US will be there
sounds good
nice one mate.
I was your 1000th like on this video....who is here in July 10 2019 (Cameron Boyce died on July 6 😢)
Thanks for the nice Video it was very motivating for me :)
I once had a slingshot i have this favorite thin band that i use almost most the time
Took 2 days of shooting for it to break
What is the best way to keep bands in storage? Does it help to put baby powder on them when you are keeping them in storage?
What size steel ammo would you recommend for waterfowl? Headshots I assume?
I like 7/16
Thanks but can we do hunting of animals may be doves etc. using flat band wrist rocket??
How do you hold the slingshot to shoot it, what’s your hand placement?
What size ammo should I use
How would you go about shooting upwards top branches would you aim high or low?
What size beering is best for tube rubbers?
Great tips. Thanks for sharing.
Your Welcome Thanks for watching
Frame whacks have me frustrated! I’m going to try again but I was denting my scout too much.
watch the first on in the playlist for shooting instruction. ua-cam.com/video/iSfNMB91o30/v-deo.html this one its most likely how you are pinching the ammo and tweaking the pouch see what im saying in this video toward the middle when i talk about how to shoot and you wont do it
Awesome, thank you for your help! I will give that I try. I for sure had not been being consistent on the grip placement. I will get it!
I shot a bit today and no fork hits! I know they will happen now and again, but it felt great. Thank you!
Thanks for the info, can I use rocks? 🤔 ammo seems very expensive. Well, to practice at least.
Yep! I use rocks a lot, usually the size of a marble or smaller, and preferably spherical
i also wanna try this idea i got. buy re bar and chop it with a grinder into pieces. i feel thatd make amazing hunting rounds
Bro I want to know how to hold it properly and how to pull the rubber and holding the shooting thing in the slingshot and leaving it
I don’t know which side to hold a slingshot
If i only shoot a couple of times and maybe only 5 or 6 shots every month how long will the pouch last?
anyone else notice the lp gas tanks near the target box? I don't think they would explode, but could be a great experiment, hint hint hint. see you in Georgia for the bushcraft campout.
LOL Ya they are old and empty i put them there to for fun and im surprised how few people noticed.
have you tried a variety of different brand matches? I have heard 70s era and older military MREs matches ignite better.
Ya i tried some better ones when i was shooting with bill in texas but havent orderd any yet
I have a slingshot with cross hairs and a level. There are 5 little circles, I'll assume these are some type of measurement for aiming. It also came with some type of colored filament which I guess weaves in and out the holes. Can someone explain the purpose of the colored filament?
youre a great shot

what does your speed rig consist of?
Its sleved tubes you can see a closer look in one of my older videos about speed shooting
I made my own sling shot. How can I make a band?
How many millimeters do you usually use for beads?
My father was so good with a sling shot, that he hunted pheasants and turkeys with it.
Are alastics good for slingshots
Your awesome 😍
I know they're illegal in some places but do you ever use wrist supported sling shots? I grew up with "wrist rockets" and I notice they're not very popular among sling shotters.

I'm the 100th comment
I always feel safer when having my propane tanks under my catch box :)
What size ammo? Thanks
is it very hard to my slingshot
I love you
thanks !!!!!
Lol Fowler your a rock star!😅
😍😍👌
Make sure your area is clear says the guy that is shouting over 2 propane tanks. 😂
I shoot with rubberball I made from my rubber hose rubber band.
Those rubbers you're using are not strong enough (bands) ...and the plastic breaks easily and OUCH!
nice gas tanks placement dude, safety part can be skipped instantly...
At first, it was hard for me to stretch it
Agree to send me a begginer slingshot of your choice I'll subscribe. Unless you got em in store.
Imagine if he hits those propane tanks
Doesn’t really explain how to aim and shoot a sling shot :-(
donde conpaste los ules planos
3. I got a bronze...
I saw the squrrslug
Deixa de conversa e manda um estilingue desse ttf para mim aqui no Brasil!

I have shot a million rounds...I can not get consistent.... 😡
Worse than a framework is the infamous, finger wack

The only item I think that was a waste. Did he even catch anything with it on the show. All I saw him eat was fish heads.
Sir can i have one of those😔
I got smacked in the neck just today by a broken band. No bueno!
propane tanks below your catch box.
catch box right in front of a staircase.
I'm not talking shit, but reevaluate your definition of safety if you're going to talk about it.
i have hit my mom's car 😅😅
Giovanni Triolo oops
