I go over the installing of flat bands on all 4 of the different SimpleShot slingshot that i sell on Fowlersmakeryandmischief.com Including the installing of bands on a slingshot that is hand carved form a tree fork. The principles are universal so no mater what you have for a slingshot this will get you going. I don't cover how tie on pouches that will be in lesson 3 where we will go over how to make you own bands. The slingshots that i cover in the attaching of bands to are as fallows.

    Love the slingshot vids. Reminds me of my grandfather who was never without his classic milbro in his pocket. He was a shepherd after WW2, so had plenty of time to practice out in the fields. I saw him clean shoot birds on the wing more than once. Carried his slingshot everywhere and was always scanning the ground for the perfect stone for ammo. I'd love to have his slingshot but it went with him to his grave.

    Man, I've never been into Slingshots. I've tried to build one back in the eighties when I was a small Boy - and now I know why it wasn’t working 😁 Thanks Fowler, it was a lot of knowledge and I've learned a lot. Maybe it will save my ass one Day. I will definitely ad some Slingshotbends with a pouch to my Survivalkit, it's small and multi usage!

    I happened across your video as for some reason it came up out of the blue in my recommended viewing list! I thought I would give it a look-see as, like millions of others, I always had a homemade catapult in the back pocket of my britches when I was a little kid 60 odd years ago. I really enjoyed seeing how things have evolved since the days of my youth and it brought back a flood of joyful memories for me, especially the last one made of wood. We didn't have the latex or tubes so we used to use our old bicycle innertubes for the bands. Many a time I'd come home with a welt on the side of my face when the band would break after going out to catch a Rabbit, Pheasant or other such small game for my nan to prepare for the dinner table! I'm now a subscriber and look forward to watching some more of your very entertaining videos. Alas, I wouldn't be allowed a catapult now as the other residents in my care home would no doubt kick up a ruckus! 😊

    If you put the steel ball in the plug after you plug it, it will be easier and firm. If you pull of the bands after pluging, the lenght of the bands might be different, so no accurate shots. Thanks for hearing me out!😁🙏

I lost an eye when I was young with a old rifle that didn"t have proper safety issues in place, so I can"t afford losing my only eye left, out. I use safety glasses when I shoot however if you prefer not to, keep in mind what this pro is saying, draw to the cheek, not the eye. Excellent teaching, thanks again and God Bless your shooting adventures. From Canada, with love.....Deniz

    Thank you, Fowler! I just received my Axiom Champ and was having a helluva time banding it. When you banded the Scout it became quite easy to understand the concept. I love this Axiom! I went on a hike this morning and practiced with my Daisy rocket with the wrist support. The weight difference between the Daisy and the Axiom is like night and day. I'll test the Axiom in my backyard and I may order the Ocularis model later today. In my day hike haversack I can load two or three Axioms vs one Daisy model. I never realized how heavy and cumbersome the Daisy's are until I received the Axiom.

    If you take the bearings out of the “stopper” on the ocularis, insert stopper first… then bearings. It’s much easier than forcing stopper with bearing. I shoot the axiom and that seems to work great for me. Not dissing how it’s being done by any means. Just something I do that works good as well.
    Lately I have been using looped tubes on my axiom. Total game changer vs flat bands.

If you were to set the strap as you did, but this time, insert the stopper WITHOUT the metal bead in place...Now that you have that assembled, it's pretty easy to insert the metal bead and you're done. I don't get the optical difference between the "V" and the "A". I Just bound the endings outside of the pouch 🤷‍♂️ did i attached my flat bands wrong on the fork?

    • @ericclaeyborn3600
      @ericclaeyborn3600 2 роки тому +1

      I finally figured it out. Turn the bands at an angle, where it creates a trough on top. This is called the "V". If the trough is underneath, then that's called an "A", or, an upside down "V", and there will be a much greater chance of hitting the forks when you fire.

  • @Joeboken
    @Joeboken 5 років тому +2

    Hello Fowler, have you tried to install those "grommets" by installing them without the ball bearing first, then once it's in place, tap or push in the ball bearing? It seems it might be a bit easier. I love these videos by the way, I never had anything like this when I was growing up, it would have made things a lot easier for me, but I guess trial and error is a good way to learn too, you learn what does and doesn't work, with a lot of pain along the way, lol, just what a growing boy needs. My mom would never buy me the slingshot that was in the store window a few blocks from where we lived, so I had to make my own. I don't know how many I made, trying to improve the design every attempt. Thanks for doing this, on behalf of all the kids, and geezers like me who still love all things plinking.

    thanks for this very informative video I have just started this hobby I was into blowdart guns I made a few there very effective and quite quiet and easy too make and now I'm learning about slingshot catapult I have a wide collection of different forks I been collecting and drying out ready to be worked later on I'm going on a little walkabout to find decent holly tree forks and oak n ash tree forks I will be ordering my bands soon EV one in the UK talks about n uses a band called theraband gold so I going to order some and cut them in taper shape then attach ive got a smaller gap fork which I gonna use as overtop pickle fork catapult. As I said I fairly new too it all I will order some 9 mm steel balls and 10 m 8 and 9 mm lead balls I been informed that's a decent effective size round and travels at OK speed also ...have a blessed day

    Fowler's Makery and Mischief
    , Hi, about fixing the bands to The Scout Gen 2, what is the difference between fixing the bands over the top or around the side? Is there different situations for each method, or is it just personal preference? I've got The Scout coming in the mail, that's why I'm asking, also can you tell me what size ball bearings you recommend, and why? Are different sizes for different purposes? Thanks man, I love your videos, very helpful.

      Joe Edwards.... As far as OTT versus TTF ("around the side" puts the ammo TTF = Through the Fork), and is mostly Personal Preference, can also depend on the particular handle/fork itself... some are "deeper" in the fork than others... but it all boils down to what You, yourself finds easiest to be the most consistent with... with each different slingshot.
      As for ammo size versus band type and size... go to Nathans website (Simpleshot.com) and find his video on Matching bands and ammo... and Why. There are also other videos on the net explaining it, including Fowler here.... but I think Nathans explanation of the "science" of it and why is very good.... and if you don't match ammo size to the correct type and size of bands, it will leave you with a not so great experience.... especially if you're a newcomer. Nathan also has a video comparing "heavy pull" bands, versus "light pull" bands using a shooting chrony (chronograph) to record projectile velocity... definitely worth watching, as are many other of his informative videos. Have Fun! : )

    Can I still buy the yellow sling with the plugs.
    The first one you showed on this video.
    Accum? Is it still available somewhere?
    It looks awesome for the way I shoot.
    I love my simple shots!!!
    I have The scout XL, and the X. The Lt is next.
    I might go through you to get the orange one.
    Does your slings come with all the same ammo and bands as simple shot?
    I’d love the Accum to carry in my back pocket.
    I love the simple shot design for shooting pinch grip. They rock!!!!

    You should put the bearing to the stopper after fixing it to the hole. In this way it will be much easy to push the stopper into the hole.

    With that first one, shouldn't you put those metal center pieces in after you get the stopper into the hole? That would probably make it a lot easier to get the stopper in then the metal part could be lightly hammered in to seat everything tightly.

    I just got my Torque, and they closed up the holes by a lot! Having trouble even getting them in. Not sure if I need more force, if I need to do something different, or if I need something as a lubricant.
