Michael Braungart -- German chemist who is trying to reinvent the productive model of humanity. Along with the American architect William McDonough (his partner at McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry), wrote the book "Cradle to Cradle", which attempts to design a system in which there is no waste in industrial production. Traditional environmentalist thinking critic, Braungart consults for Ford, Nike and the city of Chicago.

For the longest time, I always believed in human overpopulation and over-exceeding carrying capacity. When he mentioned about the ants' mass equaling 30 billion people, my mind was blown.

That's a great, great message, of both hope, and challenge!
The concept that we can have 'carbon-positive babies' AKA cabon positive pooh producers IS a challenge to designers to make eg. chemical toilets more widespread and the standard norm., so that effluent and 'flip flops' and all our other junk and waste is not simply flushed out into the neigbourhoods of the turtles and sea-life.. which ends up coming back to us anyway.
So, this statement - his message - that such IS possible is hopeful.
