Love love the flip through!! Soon as I have a day off I'm going to have to check out your new collection...loving the printables!!! Such a gorgeous book!!
Luv the details and layering you did on this one. I like your idea of adding love quotes to the tags. The tiny pink lock on the spine is really sweet too! Great job on this journal Deb! TFS! xo
Oh wow Debbie, this is *STUNNING*! Your talent is outstanding. I would love to see the journal once you've finished adding all the quotes! Thank you for sharing :)
I love the idea of using regular but beautiful covers. I've actually been able to find some very nice ones at the dollar store as well. The book came out lovely. 🌷🌷🌷🌷
simply beautiful! I just love the style and every picture in it. Thank you so much for all you share. Its so easy to be inspired for my own creativity as I watch your videos. blessings Debbie-Anne!
All of your journals are amazing but, this one is so exceptional and beautiful. You put so much meaning on each page you create. I really enjoy your journal flips. TFS !!!!!
Catalog card generator! OMG!! Low resolution or not they are definitely for ME yum! I LOVE this book. Definitely going to do a love quotes book. Wowza!
Gorgeous I love all your Journals! I have been watching for the last 3-4 days lol... So excited to see the next that I haven't commented until now lol. Thanks for sharing them with us all...
Debbie your journals are just breath taking! You have such a unique style, the way you combine the elements! just gorgeous! Super eye for picking up some booksk with great potential! TFS Nektaria
I just found you and spent yesterday watching your videos. I could comment on each and every one about how beautiful your work is. Vintage sings to me, just love it. Your videos are very inspiring and relaxing to watch. Thank You ~janet : )
I love this journal. I had to laugh when you were saying how when you saw this book it was so beautiful that you had to have it so you grabbed it up and gutted it. It just hit me as soon funny. I think you have to be a creative person to love something so much that you have to have it and then gut it. LOL
Stephanie Sams this book was collecting dust mites on a dark shelf in a thrift store. I gave it new life by creating a family keepsake we will treasure always and using more of the inside pages in several more journals. Yup I just had to have it 😊
So wondeful !!! it reminds me my studies when I was preparing the final exam " Baccalauréat "( very long time ago ^^.) we used to study these books , a century/year....and you made a real masterpiece with this one.... Love your work and videos... thanks for sharing. Have a nice day Christine ,from France
this is a beautiful book. I just found you and I made my first junk journal - I even tea stained some paper. I'm so excited to start putting things into it. thanks so much for the inspiration. have a wonderful day / week / month / year!!
Thank you for making this video, it has inspired me to create a vintage African American journal. I've been collecting pictures and just could not figure out how to put them together. Thank you for your inspiration!
Awe thanks Rachel xo. It was such a beautiful book, just sitting there in the thrift store. I had to do something with it! I'm glad I took my time with this one over the holidays. I will cherish it for years to come!
Hi Debbie....WOW! What a lovely journal. I am in love with it. I am interested in finding this book. I was having a hard time reading the name of it. I saw XVIII and Collection, but the next word was hard for me--- Litt??? . I can see the authors. I hope you don't mind? I wish it was mine. You always do such lovely, delicate work. I enjoy watching everything you make. Thanks so very much. :-)
Love this journal! Each page is interesting. Have saved this video to watch again. I have just finished altering a Large book for a swap for a friend. I did it on Norse Mythology & Magick & really enjoyed making it. This journal of yours, has reminded me that I have a book in my bookshelf on Madame Pompadour, who was the mistress of Louis XIV, if I remember correctly. I got the book in the 1970s & it's a lovely smaller size, so I think I might create my very first junk Love Quote journal using it. I will be sure to give a link to this video of yours once I have finished it, as your have inspired me to create my first junk journal.Just subscribed to your channel so that I don't miss anything new that you do, & can catch up with older videos. TFS Dwyllis-NZ
OMG, OMG, OMGooooooooooooosh, I love this one and need to try (yes, try) to make one just like it. Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations with us. Where is your blog pls? xoxoxo (BTW, I saw no "junk" in this junk journal!!)
Thank you Crystal. But try and just put some junk papers together and practice doing that, small steps! It's really fun, and not so scary once you've tried ;)
When you do the original book page images and it's the full page...how do you get those in?I couldn't quite tell if you sewed them to a base first? Sorry if you answered this...I don't get to hear allot of what is said because of my kids lol...lovely book!!
+Susan Hill I would imaging gel medium, gesso or mod podge would strengthen your pages, I just wonder if they would crack/yellow in time though? It would have to have some archival properties.
Thanks Nyoka. I actually gutted this book completely and made signatures with only the pages from the book that had images on them. I added the stitching detail prior to sewing my signatures in :)
I'm new to junk journaling. I thought you made the signatures then bound them and started "playing." But it seems to me for you to sew on the pages you had to do the pages first then bind them. Technically I guess that anything goes! Have you done a tutorial on doing the pages then signatures then binding? I think I'm too much of a copycat and can't comprehend how to do this. Thanks for your time!
That's right, I did the decorative stitching first so that the pages can fit in the sewing machine. I had my pages in the order that I wanted them, so I just ran them through in one sitting (it's very quick because there's only a bit of stitching and it's not on each page). Then I bound them in my book. I don't have a tutorial on that part because there are so many wonderful crafters on UA-cam who do a wonderful job of teaching this. Just do a search, you'll find great tutorials. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Coucou dite moi comment vous avais fait avec un livre j'aime beaucoup vous pour nous fait voir car j'ai des vieux livres je vous souvent et c'est manifique
So I assume since you stitch on your pages, that you put all your pages together before you put them in the journal? Or do you do your stitching then finish the pages once they're installed?
Typically I put the pages through the sewing machine first as it's not really possible to run a book through. But sometimes if my book is already bound I do the machine stitch on the layer piece and then glue it on the book page. It looks sewn in but really it's just the top layer. I hope that makes sense. Thanks!
Ok so im very new to all, of this. Im also going to ask questions here and i am not being snarky in the least. I dont understand the whys of the tags....what do you use them for? And why do you have so many pockets? I have never done any of this. Its all so beautiful but i guess due to my age, 70 I suppose i need a reason for all of the "junk" crammed into the book. Please just answer. Im,learning and i dont get much of whats being done or used or even worked with in these books.
These are great questions. First, junk journals are a way to recycle paper waste instead of buying a brand new notebook at the store. And from there, it becomes a fun, creative process of making something with your hands that is both functional and beautiful. The tags and cards are perfect for writing just as you would on a page in a plain journal, but more enjoyable to look at. So I guess the main reasons I would say I make them are: responsible/recycling, creativity, and function. Please feel free to watch my other journal videos to see the many variations on this process 🙂
Nebet Ra I think I answered in this video what this one was used for but here's my website of ideas and tutorials to help you get a better idea about them: www.vintagejunkjournals.com
It's a nice journal, and you're creative... But, what is that use for? What's the purpose of that journal if you don't have more space to write in it ?
Junk journals can have many purposes and aren't necessarily for lengthy writing. As you see here, this one is for keeping love quotes. Thank you for watching.
Just a pleasure to watch Debbie, thank you.
I just watched this again...it's so beautiful.
Thanks Janis. I just love this book. The images are amazing....

binders. Thanks for all the lovely insperation.

Is there anything you can paint on old book pages to strengthen them. Would some kind of sealant work? Or mod podge? Your books are beautiful!!!

Lovely. TFS.
