"The Weight" is an original song by the Canadian-American group the "Band" that was released in 1968. This is a great rendition of the song & great collaboration by artists from around the world. Proves that Music is a universal language.

Absolutely love The Band and "The Weight". When I first saw this video, I was so teary-eyed I almost couldn't see it. Have no idea how many times I have watched it, but every time it still gets to me. All these artists from different backgrounds coming together for these Playing For Change is such a great idea to keep the music alive.

I tear up every time I watch this. I envision a world where we all are brothers and sisters and I feel like it's possible when I watch Playing For Change videos. Omg, dude! I get that you were feeling the song, so had your eyes closed, but you have to WATCH the video as well as listen to it. Part of the beauty of this performance is seeing the different musicians and where they're from, all coming together to make one incredible performance.
So, if you close your eyes, you miss that.
This is whst I ADORE about Playing for Change videos - all over the world, the music brings us together and shows that we're all one; we're all connected.

This is my favorite Playing for Change song. Robbie Robertson wrote this song. Lukas Nelson is Willie Nelson's son and Sherieta and Roselyn are singing in front of the house Bob Marley grew up in. So much talent and it's so cool to see an American song go worldwide. Beautiful.

Robbie Robertson was inspired by the label inside of his Martin guitar. Martin's headquarters are in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. They still have a manufacturing facility in Nazareth, I believe.
I love the rendition from "The Last Waltz" with Pops and Mavis Staples. That was my favorite, until I heard this version 👍

Robbie Robertson's son put this all together. The message of playing for change: when we play music together we are not killing each other. This is a great movement for developing peace among all people. We can make this life on earth a heaven or a hell. It is our choice. If only everyone could see that it is in all of our interests to stay peaceful and beware of those trying to cause trouble among us. We all share the same planet.
