Her voice already is fanstastically broad and rich. You say, that's only a glimpse of the future ? OMG
Her tribute video was her boldly attacking a song that challenged her comfort zone as far as vocal ranges went. I get it,i did hear abit of strain on the highest notes back then. Yet she was clever,every other video was called official cover videos but not I Have Nothing,she called it a tribute to Whitney. Waits a few years until she has improved,matured even more,the body also still is in natural development,then she released the cover for it. And she absolutely nailed it! I absolutely love everything she did to it! 🥰
This version will probably be the one that shows up on her long awaited album. It was spectacular.
Thank you, Valerie, for your explanation on what decisions she makes when she considers doing a cover on a song. And, I'm very sure it was helpful for singers (of all ages) to understand the "mechanics" they must employ to get the best out of their voices. There is no question Angelina is a master at that. It's one of the reasons why some people say she has a thousand voices. But, through it all, the beautiful sounds of Angelina shine and her versions of a cover become a song we can call "hers".
I'm not expecting a single cover once the album shows up. Pretty sure it'll be all original material-
A long time ago Angelina implied the album would be all original songs. That was over 2 years ago, so a lot could have changed since them. But I would still bet it will be all originals. Maybe she will release one or more of the songs before she releases the entire album.
@william johnson This is just a thought that occurs to me each time Angelina releases a new song on UA-cam - I think she's in a real dilemma when it comes to recording an album. With the enormous growth her voice is currently undergoing she might be better off waiting to finalize an album until she's _"leveling out"._ By the time she's recorded a song and starts to work on the next one, her voice has already developed so much she's thinking "I could do that previous one even better now than last week".
@@YozhikvTumane Interesting hypothisis, Yozhik. Several people have said that she will not release the album until next year, after she has turned 17. I'm puzzled about the reason, but your hypothesis is certainly a compelling one. The original plan was to release the album in the Spring of 2020, following her fame on AGT. So, if she releases it next year, that will be three years from the original planned date. She's a very different singer now, so I would imagine the album will need to be recorded shortly before the release. And will be quite different, especially the overall sound of her voice, from the original back in 2020. And, she's written more songs since then. She may have enough songs for two albums now.
@@YozhikvTumane I suspect that the necessary time commitment for her to do a proper job of promotion eg talk shows, interviews, even concerts to drop an album with needed maximum effect would seriously conflict with her school schedule which might give her family some pause.

There are no ends to the unique signature voice of Angelina Jordan, and her ability to feed our need for the finest STORYTELLING ARTIST that has ever lived in this period of time. At 75 I thought I had experienced the greatest, but nothing compares to AJ.
Thanks for your wise reaction! I so much agree on your explanation of different voices. And indeed, Angelina is much closer to an alto than to a soprano. So she made the right choice to sing it in this key! Personally I'm not too fond of this song and I think it only became such a huge hit because it really lets the voice of Whitney shine and impress people with her powerful belting high notes, that add to the desperate side of the lyrics! It fitted her like a glove, although to play save on live performances, she lowered the key a whole tone, so that's only one semitone higher than Angelina!
For me, Angelina shines in other ways, but it's great that she can belt so convincingly! Apparently this song means a lot to her which also might have to do with her grandmother. What stuns me here is that, as usual, she can convey the emotion so very well, and as you said often: in her own way. Her phrasing is impeccable. And so are her runs and dynamics! She has great taste! And huge ears ;-) Can't wait to see her CD coming out!
By the way, Dimash, who I greatly admire, seems to mock with every theory about voices. So far I wouldn't know a singer, not even an opera singer who has so much control and such a great range as he. But I get bored a little bit by his perfection and by the repeating formula in his songs. Starting extremely soft or low, builtup to a climax part with insane high notes with different techniques. It's more circus than art! I prefer to listen to Angelina, who really is about sharing love and beauty via art!

100 % agreed, especially with what you said about Dimash. Same with Diana Ankudinova for me. They are both astonishing and impressive at first, but in the long run they both look a little bit like one trick ponies. Angelina Jordan is a real artist.
Well said! Dimash is a world class, phenomenal vocalist. It is like watching Cirque du Soleil and gasping in disbelief when human capability boundaries seem to be redefined. With Angelina, I am drawn in with my heart and soul. Her story telling and unique vocal artistry is moving me on daily basis.

She’s just 16. Just 16…. It just blows me away what a treasure this young girl is.
As for the question of the key: It is true that Whitney Houston's studio version starts in the high key of G (and after two key changes ends on the even higher B). But the truth is also that Whitney Houston never performed the song live in this key. She sang it, when live, in the key of F, two semitones lower than the studio version. One can only speculate what studio wizardry the technicians performed to get the movie soundtrack to sound in G. In any case, Whitney was unable or unwilling to prove that she could actually sing this song in G ("one more time"). I will leave it at that. Angelina proved in her earlier recording at age 12 or 13 that she can sing the song in G, albeit with some strain. Recently, Angelina sings the song live in E, which is only one (!) semitone lower than Whitney's live performances. It makes absolutely no sense to dwell too much on this question.
Hey Matthias. Excellent info. I don't know one key from another, but I can tell she is lower in this studio version. Her low register is so warm and rich, and she adds that slight vocal fry when she is singing down there. I like that even more than the belts. And that voice overlay on the last "don't you dare" was Stunning! Anyway, for me, this is the best cover of this song I have ever heard.

yeah... It makes sense, because I remember watching a documentary about her life on Netflix, where they mentioned that during the filming of the "bodyguard" she had a very hard time struggling to reach the high notes required by the soundtrack songs.

In this version, with her even lower, richer tone, she stays where it feels right, and she doesn't seem to be straining at all. David Foster and Linda Thompson, who co-wrote this ballad for Whitney Housten would be blown away by this performance.

Like you stated, she changed the key to this song, but does it really matter as long as she has the ability to give each word, or phrase, meaning like no one else in this universe can. How can she evoke such emotion in each and every performance? Why do I get chills, or cry tears, or lose my breath when Angelina sing a song that I have experienced many times in the past without this happening? If this feeling only happened to me that would be ok, but it happens to billions of people. We play these videos of AJ over, and over again to get our high.
Great reaction! What a fantastic performance! Looks like she's using the same antique store again, like she used for her My Funny Valentine and Suspicious Minds videos. The music she's been making in this store has been top tier and the videos visually beautiful. Love that she went back to the black and white monochrome look again. Hi Valerie, Thank you for all your Angelina reactions. I enjoy them all. As a life long music lover, the quality that I find most important is musicianship. For a vocal artist, this to me means flow, emotion, and confidence. Things like Keys and Back Phrasing are incidental. Angelina epitomizes the former and uses the latter as elements of her aural palette. At the end of the day, is the artist someone that draws me in and for whom there is never enough to be savored. In all cases, for Angelina, the answer is yes. She truly is a stunning musician and artist.

Thank you Valery. I remember you said when Angelina was 10 singing "feeling good" that she is masterful. And yes you were right and she still get more and more masterful, if possible. When I thinking back, Angelina has experimented a lot, but for most of the covers she has done, she has sung in a way that suits her and her voice best. It's hard to imagine Angelina's voice will become even richer than it already is, but she constantly surprises both with her choice of songs and her voice.

Not only is the Official version the best it has the potential to vastly outstrip the other versions by the end of the year if not earlier.
I personally think the Official version is better than Whitney Houston’s version.

Angelina Jordan was just in Norway just a few days ago just a few just a little visit to go back to hometown do a wonderful interview she said it’s all in our region but she said she’s so thankful for what race comes through. He said when she was 76 she wanted to sing for the world to bring joy and love and she’s so appreciative. That came true and she was so happy that Yvette came to her senses. This means everything to her, she’s very very well spoken and very humble

Thank you Valerie for your wonderful reaction and comments. I just wish other reactors and "coaches" would watch this and put the whole "Key" thing to rest once and for all. Angelina is not trying to be Whitney, she is honoring one of her idols and this is Angelina singing, not Whitney. Those that want the "correct" key, whatever that is, should listen to Whitney's cover of this song or one of the 1000's of singers that try to mimic Whitney. Angelina's rendition here will stand the test of time just like her Bohemian rendition will.

With regard to the back-phrasing, if you watch any of Whitney Houston's live concerts, she back-phrased extensively, much more than Angelina does. Her phrasing on the first verse was almost conversational most of the time. Angelina has toned down some of the back-phrasing she did when she was 12-13 with this song. It is still there but is less pronounced than it previously was.

I heard that when Karen Carpenter started singing she was on a higher key and it wasn't good, but when they lowered the key, that's when the magic happened. Would you believe I watched one reactor recently who said that one of Angelina's runs in this song was "a little sloppy"?!! Brilliant reaction to The Master! Have a question, but you have to listen to this version and the version she did on 22 June in the blue dress. Near end of the song ,after last big note she says, "Don't you dare", the 2nd time there is a double layer. I understand on recorded video how that can be done, but how is it done live with no back up singers? Please respond, God Bless!

I was glad to see you catch the little vocal addition on the second "don't you dare" that Angelina sang. Of course, as a professional, you would notice that. I have seen only a few other reactors who have mentioned it. There is a lot of speculation out there as to whether that was Angelina singing it or if it was Whitney, adjusted to Angelina's key. In Whitney's soundtrack version, there are actually two voices singing "don't you dare" with her in three-part harmony. In Angelina's, there is just the one. I would like to hear from someone (i.e. Angelina, Rob Christie, an audio engineer) who can confirm the source of that snippet.
When Ariana Grande sang this song for the Obama's live there was the same thing. An additional voice singing "don't you dare". Maybe Angelina used the same backing track as Ariana Grande did (since they are both signed with Republic Records maybe Rob Christie can use such resources).
Thank you for your explanation. Vocal range is similar to musical instruments that violin is not necessarily better than cello. It all depends on how you play it.

Yozhik, your second reply (to William) deserved a chuckle BUT, it could be exactly what is going on. Angelina always wants to present her music to us "with everything she has within her" and when she sees an opportunity "to do more" maybe she is hedging like you suggested.
Hey, guys, she might be right. The "first" big time album should be a collectors item and every album after that can be anything she wants to do. All of us have waited for so long for her to be "all in" in regards to her career but what you suggested is a moment which has to be addressed and finalized at the right moment in time and I'll support that 100%.
But, I hope she realizes her voice, attitude and life experiences will be changing often and so producing something new will not diminish what she has done already. If she records 'Fly Me To The Moon' a thousand times her recordings from 10 years ago or one year ago will not be influenced by her most recent recording in any way. In fact we will love newer versions but we will always tear up when we watch older videos.

One reactor said that this song is a minor third lower than Whitney's version and that Whitney was a tenor while Angelina is an alto. Is this accurate?

Honest opinion...this was hard to listen to. She literally made the best version of bohemian rhapsody I've ever heard. She butchered Whitney Houston.

I've never been keen on this song , but I think ANGELINA performs this and her live version 10 July 22 brilliantly do remember because it's so easily overlooked that this amazingly talented young girl is still only aged 16 I repeat aged 16 , I can and accept your oppinion but to use the word " HORRIBLE " well that's just plain " HORRIBLE " .
