Well the body is an 87 ranger but a lot of the parts are off an 83 and I recently changed out the engine with a 4 liter. and for the record, I do actually have a T-bucket that can be seen in the background of a few videos.

I've been driving the same car for 29 years, and it was already 20 years old when I bought it for $300....that moment passed a long time ago. Sometimes newer isn't necessarily better. My old rolla is nearing 50 years as a daily driver, me being the third owner. Easy to work on. Not much to break. 50mpg. It came with a radio, heater, windshield washers and a cigarette lighter.

Drove an 85 Ford F-250 for a year with the steering wheel almost all the way down. Then my dad showed me on his truck to push the blinker forward to adjust the tilt!!!
Then I tried pushing my blinker forward on mine...sure enough I had tilt steering.

Some rear view mirrors can actually continue to dim the lights progressively, the more you move them. Throw the tab, and if you still need dimmer, try moving it by hand. The first time I found this out, i was like "my whole life has been a lie" how did I not know this.

  • @BariumCobaltNitrog3n
    @BariumCobaltNitrog3n 8 років тому +1

In your animation of the mirror, in daylight mode both the bright and the dim reflections are going in almost the same direction (the bright one hitting the eyes and the dim one hitting the chest) but when the magic tab is toggled the two images are at 45 degrees or so.

Or I can flip the tab down and adjust it to see the headlights brightly, then flip the tab up and it “dims”. O

0:38 If you have to do that, then you have your side mirrors positioned incorrectly. If you have to look over your shoulder to make sure a car isn't in your blind spot before switching lanes, then your side mirrors are positioned incorrectly. If you can see the side of your car in your side mirrors, then your side mirrors are positioned incorrectly.
Ideally what should happen. You first see the car in the center rear view mirror. As the car comes up along side you it reaches a point where the front can be seen in your side mirror, and back in your center mirror. The car moves up next to you more, and you then should be able to see the front of the car next to you with your eyes, and the back of the car in your side mirror. The only way you should be able to see the side of your own car, is if you have a domed side mirror.
This is very possible to do. I have done it successfully with every car I have owned. The only time I ever have to look over my shoulder to check traffic, is when I'm driving someone else's car.

When I flick mine, the whole mirror literally goes up and I can't no longer see any view of the back of my car on that. Is that how it supposed to work or I have to adjust the mirror after I flick it so I can see the view of the back of my car but without the annoying light beams??

So, this guy is riding behind you. Oh snap, MEER! . . So now in your "frame of reference" they can no longer cause a problem. It's a secret weapon.

yeah, because the extra like 1/8th of a vowel actually makes a difference in your perception of the word. -_-

too bad for me that when i use this feature of my rear view mirror that it dims everything else too much and I can only see headlights in the mirror. they aint bright anymore though, but i can't make out any other vital detail. I would almost rather have a special camera that would digitally alter headlights of other vehicles when the signal is sent to the rearview mirror that way I can still still all the other details but not have someones headlights blinding me in the process.

I never knew how much I needed it until I bought a car that didn't come with one. I also moved to NY where for some reason a lot of people think it's okay to drive with their high beams on when they're driving on the highway.

The automatic dimming mirrors transmit much more light than the old tried and true flip rear view mirror. I wish my new car with its fancy auto dimming mirror could protect my eyes nearly as well as the old school flip mechanism rear view mirror.

I like the video. . . For Claroboy011: As far as car crash accidents work, that is a good question. I learned in traffic school that if you look towards the reflective line on the side of the road it can prevent accidents.

This isn't true! Front of the glass and mirrored surface are parallel, otherwise this would only work in one direction. Try it out if you line up the mirror and hit the tilt switch, it works. Now leave the tilt switch where it is and line it up the mirror again, hit the tilt switch and it still works going the other way.
This the dimming effect is caused by double internal refraction, where the light enters the front of the glass, bounces off the mirrored surface, then some light bounces off the internal surface of the glass back to the mirror and finally out again to your eye.

Different country's regulate the mirrors differently. In canada all of our angle down. And not up. My friend imported a Japanese car once and it was angled up. The premise is the same either way though
