This really takes me back. Teenage years, unknown japanese band on a french distro, I bought this first album without having heard anything from it (yes that's it worked in those days) and man, I had this album on repeat during all the hard college years, playing it while eating, studying, before sleep... That album is a masterpiece of math-rock. It has a real depth and energy that many math rock band lack (DonCab, Battles...), it has the same sense of beautiful melancolic emotionnal energy as Envy or any screamo band. Saw them live in Paris on tour for their second album, THAT was a disco party, awesome!
I completely 100% agree with you that there is an unconquerable depth and energy to this whole album( I often have it on repeat as well.) But to say Don Caballero doesn't possess one? I mean come on..
saw these guys a couple years ago during SXSW, and just found out they'll be there again this year. I'll be stage managing at one of the venues they're playing at and can't wait to see them again
Seen them 7 times, amazing every time.
I wish I could go to one of these LITE concerts. They're so good.
Check their facebook, bro, theyre on tour in the us in march.
So glad I saw these guys live. They are absolute beasts!
