On the point regarding validation. I have been reflecting on that. And I read something that really made sense. When you haven't been acknowledged as a child and all of a sudden people are acknowledging your work, you start asking yourself, are you doing it for validation? What makes the difference is between 'needing' and 'wanting' it. We don't need validation, but we want it, just like compliments, we like it when someone appreciates us! For anyone struggling with this! It helped me and I thought it could help someone else too!
I love these insights Yasir. As a high school teacher, these three takeaways were incredibly valuable for connecting with students and colleagues: Starting with a simple sentence without overthinking is so practical, especially in the classroom. When meeting a new group of students, focusing on just the first sentence really helps to ease any nerves and set a relaxed tone. (Just Take the First Step) Showing why I’m talking to someone right away is crucial in education. By connecting with students on how a topic is relevant to their lives or future, they’re more engaged and open. (Establishing Relevance) Noticing and mentioning unique qualities about my students - whether it’s their enthusiasm or a thoughtful question they asked - creates a stronger bond and makes them feel valued. I’ll definitely be using this more (Observational Compliments)
Great ideas man. The one with introverts trying to play out the entire conversation in their head.. that is so me. I will immediately implement your advice. Thanks.
Goat Yasir!🚀 Research shows that the faster you demonstrate warmth and competence, the better the outcomes. I would appreciate tips on how to convey these cues quickly and effectively. Would appreciate your insights on it!
