- I've been testing out the Pursuit from Nucanoe, and this kayak is impressive. With incredible stability, a 360-degree swivel seat, and endless rigging options on top of a clean deck layout, this boat offers a unique design for a very reasonable price.

Great review! Thanks for the info.
Thanks for checking it out bro!
Good review Robert!
Thanks!
Nice review! I almost got one of these but decided to go with a Radar 135 instead, just for the ability to add a pedal drive and so far its been a good boat!
The Radar is pretty slick, I just got one myself. That'll be my next review. :)
Great vid. If I was looking to put an electric motor on a yak for inshore/backcountry fishing this would be it.
It'd be a good choice for that. I'm debating it myself. :)
Awesome! My dog would be comfy on that Kayak.
Great review, thanks
Great review man. I have had the Frontier 12 for over a year now and I love it, although I do run a trolling motor due to its size and the amount of gear I carry. The Pursuit would be a great option if you want to stick to paddling but prefer to stand and sight cast or just stretch your legs a little.
Hit the nail on the head, Lance. I'd be running a trolling motor on the Frontier too. For someone looking for a bit more speed that can do with a little less capacity and space, the Pursuit is a solid little brother to the Frontier. They definitely both have their place.
Nice review. Would like to see a compare/contrast with the Frontier.
Not a bad idea. I know it's faster than the Frontier. I've never been in the Frontier though.
Ok thanks for the insight. I want to be able to take my daughter out at the lake but be universal to go offshore in the summer beach trip
Yeah, if offshore is part of the plan this may not be the choice for you. If you're just going right past the surf you're fine on days when it's not crazy rough. Beyond that, you may find it lacking. It may be hard to find a kayak that does both of those things well, short of buying something like a Hobie Pro Angler for twice the price of this.
Larry Sharp I would recommend the Wilderness Systems Thresher 140 and 155. Great for offshore fishing. Check them out at www.wildernesssystems.com.
Thanks for the review. I'm seriously considering getting one for my next kayak.
I think you'll be pleased.
Robert Field thanks for a review
I noticed Chad Hoover put his new bride in a Nucanoe just like this one and she says she loves it. I wonder if Hook1 sells them now too? I like how there's a big emphasis these days on a clean deck layout. Good review Robert, thumbs up from me.
Thanks John! I'm not sure if Hook1 carries em but it's a sweet boat.
nice
I bought a heritage osprey 12.9 kayak.. it has the standard seat that swivels 360 degrees and locks about every 15 degrees.. it also has a flat layout.. wide too.. great kayak just not fast.. looking for something I can take off Galveston bay now.. any suggestions.?
The pedal drive nucanoe has for the pursuit/frontier 12 looks pretty sick...
Yes it sure does! And from what I hear, it will retrofit to older models.
Rob, saw your video series on the Pecos which was awesome! How would you have liked the open deck layout of the Frontier 12 on Pecos? Planning a trip for 2022 there and am thinking about getting another kayak, either a Frontier 12 or Coosa HD.
Hey Robert- What kind of kayak would you suggest for someone living on the gulf who would want to do a mixture of inshore and bay fishing and maybe a little off shore? Love the videos!!
Hi Robert , I really enjoy your channel a lot. I happen to be looking at this pursuit kayak for my next fishing kayak but I have also the wilderness radar 135 on my list and they’re my top two. Pedaling option is not a big deciding factor for me but I want a good paddling kayak that’s stable with open deck just like these two, so I would like to get your opinion between these two kayaks since you own the radar 135 and have been on the pursuit as well. Please help me decide lol ! I fish mostly ocean inshore waters and only on calm days ! Thanks Robert
Personally I’d go with the Wildy ATAK over the Radar for paddling, but the Radar does paddle well. The Wildys take a rudder which is nice. The open layout of the Pursuit is nice too. I’d demo both at your local dealer man, everyone is different
In your opinion which kayak is better out of this NuCanoe Pursuit or the Diablo Amigo?
Now those are two very good boats to compare. They're both open deck layouts, super stable, and great for fly fishing. I think the Pursuit would handle big water a bit better (choppy lake), and the Diablo is more specialized for rivers. I haven't spent much time on the Amigo, so I'm not a good one to give a direct comparison. But the Diablos are perfect for what they do, and the owner is a great dude.
in my opinion it looks kinda just blank, in person does it feel like that?
I think that's the point, Braden. That's what I mean when I say clean deck layout. The question is, what is it missing that you need? It's literally covered in gear tracks, so you can customize it with 3rd party accessories to give you exactly what you need, where you need it, and nothing more. That's not for everyone, but it's a plus in my book.
Hey Robert! How comfortable is the seat?
Extremely
How does this compare to a native magic
+Dragster 988 I've never been in one brother. In fact I've never heard of that kayak.
Hm. At that price I'd probably go with a Coosa HD(I own one so I'm biased). They paddle similar with the HD having more in-hull storage and accessories standard. Then again, this would probably be better for fly fisherman(super open deck and no footpegs to get caught on). For some reason I thought the nucanoes were around the 1200$ mark(which would be a great buy). Oh well. Tons of great boats out there now! Great time to be a yak fisherman
Couldn't agree more Dalton, tons of great options and something for everyone. The Coosa HD is a great boat as well.
You said, "up a creek without a paddle."
I gave myself a fist bump when I thought of that.
this has nothing to do with the video but what's your opinion on feel free kayaks
Ummm that's a pretty broad question. They make solid boats depending on the application. Are you looking at a particular model? For what type of fishing?
so I have a lure 10 it's nothing crazy but you think it's good for offshore?
I've used it in the bay and it's very stable just wondering how it would be offshore
Seems like a really good Yak for Bowfishing 2 . Great Review !
+michael dompig definitely would be a solid platform for that, especially with a little trolling motor on the back.
id buy this if it had a rudder .
Definitely one drawback. Still a solid boat though.
Is it just me, or does the price tag seem a bit high for this one? I've wanted one for a while now, but just can't pay that much for what it is.
+toolman you can always shop used. Where are you located?
Robert Field I'm in Charlotte NC. Used yaks around here go for almost new pricing. Usually. Rarely ever see any on Craigslist. Don't know where else to look.
3" that's it?
I took it through about 2" of water/mud in St. Augustine to get to those redfish. It was barely dragging in 2".
Good job. Would you take this offshore?
Probably not. You need a pretty specific style of boat to be comfortable offshore. It wasn't designed for that type of water. Having said that, you can take a bathtub offshore if the conditions are right, so on a calm day it would do fine. I'm not convinced it'd drain water fast enough on a really rough day where waves are crashing over the bow/sides.
Robert Field you can take a Stealth Kayak offshore. Like a boss.
You off of FM 2004 in TX? Lets hit the water sometime if so! Recognized the good old blimp dock haha.
Haha this was a while ago man but it might be, can’t remember exactly. Definitely texas
man...another comercial?
This sucks!!
Really sucks...pure propaganda!
I dislike. (I Unsubscribe)
This is all he does now. It blows
I like the commericals because it shows me what is out there.
Hey Fred, sorry you weren't happy with the frequency of what you call commercials. People ask me all the time about this kayak or that kayak, so when I get a chance to test one out, I do a video on it. I have zero affiliation with Nucanoe, so "propaganda" seems a bit extreme. I went through a number of downsides to the boat. Not too many commercials tell you what's wrong with the product in addition to what's good. Sorry you were unhappy, and I appreciate you subscribing in the first place. Take care!
thanks Dragster
Great vid. If I was looking to put an electric motor on a yak for inshore/backcountry fishing this would be it.
