Beards everywhere. Everyone has a beard. Even girls are wearing false beards so they don't feel left out. Beards and short hair with side-parting. The Polara sounds great! Thanks for the video :-)
Richard, everything is covered (very well) in this demo. Thanks. I like that a pick is used (it defines the effect more) instead of finger-picking. Appreciate your showing different settings, too. Adding OD was interesting, not so much in what OD does to the reverb (eh), but more what the reverb does to the OD - cool. First demo with a time/menu at the start - good idea, though I enjoyed listening to the whole video. It's between the TC Hall of Fame and the Polara now. Hard choice.
Great having the settings time index at the beginning, good demo, and thank you for not compulsively not hitting the whammy bar at the end of each phrase!
There's pretty much no Shimmer on the market that is as smooth as Polara Halo. My Eventide Space and the Strymon Big Sky still have the specific octaves coming through too defined and a bit brittle even after tweaking to match Polara for an hour. Polara Halo has so much "air" to it, like the shimmer has has some hall reverb mixed in with diffuse cranked to 11. I was hoping my Space would allow me to sell my Polara, but it's just unmatched. The other algorithms are "quite good". I wish the modulation was a little slower, more chorus and less phaser. But every Polara demo ends up being a Halo shimmer demo.
i need to know if this unit sucks low end and overall volume, i want a reverb able to add fullness reflections etc, but otherwise preserving exact guitar range/tone... ... im deciding between polara and Hall of Fame ... please someone can confirm this specific concern (tone sucking / volume sucking) many thanks!
Thanks for the video. You said this pedal has a CD quality (44khz), but I could not find a reference to that. Many companies mention the sampling rate in their manual, but Digitech does not unfortunately. I'm torn between this Polara and the new MXR Reverb. MXR Reverb has a 96khz sampling rate and to my ears sounds better (based on couple of videos I watched). I think I prefer the algos on the MXR as well. Also, it seems the Polara is not Analog Dry Through either because I could not find it on their website or in the manual. Can you please clarify on these for me? Cheers,
Thank you for playing this as it should be played pisses me of people demoing this pedal playing blues chords on the halo setting fuck off its a gaze pedal och alt rock pedal i dont want to hear your 60s blues riffs with a shimverb thank you This is how you show this pedal off
At 4:53, for example, I see two blue cables, on the far side of the pedal - that's the output side. There's only one cable going in, which is on the side you can see properly, facing the camera at an angle.
Rich Jacobson I got the Supernatural when it came out but had to let it go. It had a weird detune on the shimmer that made it quite unusable for me. 4 years later, I’m still thinking about that Polara and its Halo setting
I own both Digitech Polara reverb and TC Electronic Hall of Fame, and chain them after the other.. Digitech obscura altered delay and TC Electronic Flashback X4, also chain after the other.. So many possibilities... ;p
Yeah HIF is meh,but if you have the Polara as a regular reverb pedal you may wanna add the TC T2 reverb for a special reverb type pedal, that thing in stereo sounds huge.
Digitech had a pretty bad reputation but with their latest series of pedals (Polara, Obscura, Trio, Luxe etc) they have stepped up their game and everyone seems to really like their new stuff. Me included :)
glad to see someone do a pedal demo for this where the guitar tone isn't ungodly bright. thank you

The Polara sounds great! Thanks for the video :-)
2022 ,if anything,more beards !
That Pink Floyd "Time" playing during the Hall setting... :D
+Kerr_b I noticed that: surely not the most appropriate verb for that tune, Plate would fit much better i think.
Brilliant review. Lots of sounds and no sales pitchy crap. And damn, that was recorded better than the samples on the DigiTech site.
Digitech must be the most criminally underrated pedal maker. The current FreqOut and the discontinued Timebender are also excellent.
It sounds really amazing *.*
Now i'm in between this and the Cathedral EHX...damn!
and you bought the polara???

One of the best reverb pedals ever.
Nice review. Loved seeing it with some distortion.
Peter Jacobs, you can *see* the music now?
I think i’m in love with this pedal
it's discontinued
wow are you kidding me,this is hands down the best sub 200$ reverb pedal.

Nicely recorded demo, good job.
no analog synth or drum machine examples?
+The Holy Father. every guitar effect is best used on synths and other instruments. ;)
Yeah, what gives? I was expecting Nick Batt to bust out a few synth sounds!
No electric cello?
@@yacovaviv7281 No Harmonica examples?

What did you end up with?
Certainly a bit fuller reverbs than were used to in that form factor.
How much is the polara? it sound great..... is it less expensive than boss rv6?
Michael Manginsay same price, but the Polara blows the RV 6 out of the water.
very nice sounds indeed and well played too mate :-)
.
Glen
Do you use the reverb in front of or after the amp?
Thank you for playing this as it should be played pisses me of people demoing this pedal playing blues chords on the halo setting fuck off its a gaze pedal och alt rock pedal i dont want to hear your 60s blues riffs with a shimverb thank you

nice demo
Good video for a very good overview
You need to put 300ma into this pedal to make it truly come alive.
Lovely sound
How can you have a stereo image, when there is only one cable going out of the polara '¡?
At 4:53, for example, I see two blue cables, on the far side of the pedal - that's the output side.
There's only one cable going in, which is on the side you can see properly, facing the camera at an angle.
So...Supernatural or Polara??
:-)
Rich Jacobson I got the Supernatural when it came out but had to let it go. It had a weird detune on the shimmer that made it quite unusable for me. 4 years later, I’m still thinking about that Polara and its Halo setting
The Halo algo is wonderful, but the rest of the algos sound like my HOF.
*****
Hall of Fame by TC
*****
Again I answer... Hall Of Fame, TC Electronic
imyouandurme this is way better than TC HOF. Way way better!
I own both Digitech Polara reverb and TC Electronic Hall of Fame, and chain them after the other.. Digitech obscura altered delay and TC Electronic Flashback X4, also chain after the other.. So many possibilities... ;p

Dig this pedal, but it wants 300mA
The PDF manual says 125mA - still quite a lot though.
I loved the sound but couldn’t read the face. Back it went!
is there no dry/wet control??? how do you deal with this, anybody???
Isn't that what the level control does? The level puts more or less reverb, correct? Some companies call it mix
That's what the level knob is for. Top left
Halo!!
According to the internet, Digitech has a bad reputation. How true is this?
Overall, I'm not a huge fan, but this pedal sounds pretty great. One of my clients has it, and I might have to snag one up.
Digitech had a pretty bad reputation but with their latest series of pedals (Polara, Obscura, Trio, Luxe etc) they have stepped up their game and everyone seems to really like their new stuff. Me included :)
DaveElwoodCutter I think they already began improving with the Hardwire serie actually, the new line of pedals is really great.
They make pretty good reverbs
Digitech are like Behringer bad in the past but recently have really stepped it up
It was a good demo right up til you turned on that lousy fuzz. After that everything sounded baaaddfd
