    How did you get the motor in time after you tore it down

    At 6.11 you show the big end, what kind of tool can i use for that? Also, the crankshaft housing is held by screws that look similar. Wish companies would just use 1 type, now I need to buy more tools.

      Not quite sure what you mean, the bolts on the rod cap? Pretty sure I just used a regular 6 point socket

    hi. the carb.. you put jb weld on the external fuel port? did it work? i just broke mine yesterday. i broke the peg that the external fuel tank feeds to. tried to plug it up but no success. was out on the water at the time. i am curious, if i seal up that port, will the engine run only off the onboard tank? its all i use anyway.

    • @krstoner53
      @krstoner53 Рік тому

      Yes. I did away with my external tank and plugged off the snout that went to it and it works fine with just the gravity feed tank on top of engine going to the one snout. I now carry a extra gas can of premix to refill with.

      @@krstoner53 thats sweet. i do the same. i plugged up that snout but it didnt solve my issue. i start it up. put it in gear and if i throttle up it cuts off. seems to run briefly but then it like a misfire or a stall or something locks up. it was working fine just the day before.

    hey! did you ever have any luck finding a replacement carb for that boat motor?

      Nope! There may have been one or two on ebay but I never wanted to put money into it.

    I have the exact same motor and I need the needle bearings for the piston. Or do you have an easy way of putting the needle bearings back in cuz it seems like my ring is busted I don't know if it's supposed to be one solid piece or not.

    • @Subz3r097
      @Subz3r097  3 роки тому +1

      It's been a while, but if i'm not mistaken, I think it was two halfs with all the needle bearings just laying inside the halfs
      Hope this helped

    I’m looking for a carburetor for this motor do you know where I can get one?

    • @Subz3r097
      @Subz3r097  2 роки тому

      I ended up finding a similar engine for sale for relatively cheap. It wasnt a gamefisher but the same engine, cant remember the exact manufacture, it used the same carb. So I had to buy a parts motor essentially to get a good carb

    Any tricks to installing all the needles on the connecting rod. Did you happen to count the needles?

    • @Subz3r097
      @Subz3r097  4 роки тому

      This was so long ago I couldn't tell you how many needles there are suppose to be, but I know there was little space left after all where installed. I think I used either grease or engine break in lube which is a very high viscocity oil to help hold them in place. It took me a good bit of tries. Make sure you have a clean open space incase you drop a needle you can find it.
      Hope this helps, Thanks for watching!

      @@Subz3r097 Thanks for the information! One last question, which way did you install the lower crank seal. The seal on the engine I tore apart has the cup end of the seal facing down toward the outdrive, away from the inside of the motor. I would assume is would be assembled with the cup end toward the inside of the motor?

    • @Subz3r097
      @Subz3r097  4 роки тому

      @@viperdoug6668 Hmmm, i'm not quite sure. does that seal have a spring? If so the spring always faces towards the inside, or where a spring would go faces towards the inside. Thats pretty general for all seals so thats the way I would install it. Sorry I'm not totally sure. Hope this helps

    How can I separate the motor from the base? Mine is stuck

  • @Louisianagames
    @Louisianagames 5 років тому

    Long shot, do you still have that motor ? I picked one up and it was in pieces. I'm down to putting the carb on but cant figure out the choke lever, have all brackets, but missing something from swivel bracket to choke flap, not sure if it uses 2 springs or has small rods

    • @Subz3r097
      @Subz3r097  5 років тому +1

      Yeah I still have the motor but its under a pile of junk so I cant look easily. I can almost certainly say there are no springs, it should be all rod linkage. If you really cant figure it out I might get some time to pull it out of storage.
      hope this helps, thanks for watching!

    Why did you take the engine all apart? Just clean the float/carb. I have to clean mine every year...possibly the needle sticks due to residue of ethanol.
    I'll take the lower end if you don't want it.

    • @Subz3r097

      The bearing on the output side only had two balls left in it, since the bearing went out the shaft had excess play which blew out the seal. Since the seal was gone, it had a huge vacuum leak causing it to run extremely lean. I wish it was only a dirt carb, believe me, I spent weeks fooling with the carb before I discovered the bearing issue.

    there's a screw on the side opposite of the gear switch, right under the flywheel, it looks like the timing adjustment happens there. Mine doesn't have leaks, i rebuilt the carb, still won't start :-(

    • @Subz3r097
      @Subz3r097  6 років тому +1

      Did you check for spark? Try spraying a bit of cleaner in the carb and try to start to eliminate a fuel issue. not too much because cleaner does not have lube for a 2 stroke.

    • @BasVossen
      @BasVossen 6 років тому

      it's got a spark, and carb is cleaned, inc. all jets. With gas poured in via spark hole, it still won't start in any position of the throttle.

    • @Subz3r097
      @Subz3r097  6 років тому +1

      Try just a very small amount of gas or spray into the opening of the carb and keep the throttle and choke wide open. It could be a compression issue. I think even out of time it would still try to fire.
