Not only that. He hasn't set foot in that house in 22 years. I love how Norman is just trying to come back to the world after being away for it for so long.
@@shanefolan9175 Psycho III and IV were mediocre, but Psycho II imo is the best of the entire franchise (yes even better than the original film). And we won't talk about the Psycho remake lol
@@drlight6677 I used to think that 2 was better than the original but having watched the original recently it is actually better probably. I agree with you that 2 is probably better paced and engaging in ways but 1 still is much better crafted. The dialogue, irony, lighting etc is better tuned in to brilliant detail.
@@shanefolan9175 My biggest issue with the original is that the climax ends so abruptly when Norman appears in the cellar dressed as his mother, then he gets grabbed and that's it. And then of course the unnecessary exposition during the final scene explaining what was going on.
It interesting how In the original film, Norman was the villain or at least an antagonist and Lila was one of the good guys just trying to find her sister and in this movie Norman is protagonist just trying to fit back into society and Lila is basically the antagonistic character. it shows what has happened to them in the last 22 years since the Alfred Hitchcock film, he has grown to try to repent for all the wrong that he has done and try to be a good person and Lila has gone bitter and wants Norman to forever pay for the pain he caused her in murdering her sister. Lila in this film really shows how corrosive revenge can really be to a human being. It's great that they got Perkins and Miles back in these roles.
Miles's career had declined massively by 1982 so it's not surprising they got her back but apparently Perkins was hesitant. Although having said that his career never took off massively after Psycho either. I was at a comic con and Michael Biehn from Terminator said the problem with doing a film from a massive director is that much of the focus goes on the director and that cast can get overlooked no matter how big the role is and he was right. Many of Hitchcock's films people are so focused on it being a Hitchcock work that we forget the actors in it.
@sara and patrick 3.0 I do indeed love VHS. I still have most of my collection from back in the day, including Psycho 1 thru 4 lol! I was born in ‘87 and grew up on 70’s and 80’s horror movies. I also collect vinyl soundtracks, including Psycho 1 and 2! Analog for life!! Metallica is my #1 followed by Pink Floyd. I also love KISS, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and some Angus Young of course!!
I actually saw this before the original film. I think it's amazing. It has a very creepy atmosphere and a clever story. I do feel the original is a greater film by comparison, but I've always really enjoyed Psycho II as well.
I wouldn't have returned to the home where it all happened I would want a fresh new start & 2 I would have waited a few days before I started the job get moved in & settled before I started work
Lila loomis was probably in that house not long before Norman returned to it, she might have drilled the holes in the walls and she was well prepared for his return to the mansion. Lila and Mary planned to drive him crazy again when he was back, but spool also played a part in certain things like peering through peepholes and maybe even killing toomey. Spool was also in that house I think at times. Maybe spool killed toomey and lila loomis. Spool was also prepared for bates return.
I'm a fan of the films Psycho and I find for download. I have the first film of 1960, but I can not find the sequences ... Each film is a different director, we can understand the idea of each.

Love that bit where Norman steps out of the car and sees the house again for the first time in 22 years. Norman loves his great big house.
I love all of the sequels...they're simply great. And Tony Perkins is always a reason to watch any kind of movie : )
Only good sequel is this one imho, didn't care for the others

@sara and patrick 3.0 I do not :( ... just late 90’s/early 2000’s WWF.
I have all 3 movies plus Bates Motel on DVD and proud of it.
One of my favorite sequels. The 80's had one of the best films. They don't make movies like this anymore.
The Jerry Goldsmith score here as Norman comes through the front door is very similiar to the score he wrote for Poltergeist

Me too. I’m glad I got to see the original 4 years later because now I understand what happened at the end of this sequel.
Anthony Perkins came to my country Brazil in the premiere of the movie .I was a baby at that time.👏👏🇧🇷
Sensational acting and brilliant film
I LOVE TONY AND NORMAN! KIMBERLY!
I wouldn't have returned to the home where it all happened I would want a fresh new start & 2 I would have waited a few days before I started the job get moved in & settled before I started work

Great movie ofcourse ! But how many spiders are in that house ??? Brrrrrrrrr
I saw someone, where! In in in that window.
Is that Tony’s boss Ol Frankie? 😂😂
Who was that at the window? mrs Spool , Laila or Mary ?
I think it was Lila.
Normans scared of that big house.
@iluvpsychos did he play Tim Norman Bates in all 3 psycho films?
Vera Miles in great new bio (All About Jeffrey Hunter) at amazon!
the girl who plays Mary, looks a bit like Janet from Three's Company, must be the short dark hairdo
She is the sister of actress Jennifer Tilly .
I think spool is also in the house, she,s his real mother.
Norman bates needs facebook to bad he did not have it at that time.
