I have been reading some of the comments posted. While most are positive, several people have commented ‘this is not macro photography’, pulling the flowers etc. What is in a persons head when they post such things? Can they not just appreciate & admire the creativity which is been demonstrated? This is a really wonderful post, very well presented, clear & concise. Keep doing what you are doing, it’s wonderful.

I always enjoy seeing the approaches others take. You've some beautiful compositions from this outing. Getting out, going slow (truly seeing one's surroundings) and experimenting with different ideas is what it's all about and the only way to make an image your own. Well done.

First let me say how much I enjoyed your video. I know how you feel combining two things that you enjoy, the woods and photograph.
At 68 years old and got my first camera in 1964, I've ran a lot of film and memory cards through cameras over the years. I enjoy seeing what others have found and share and you do this very well. And I'm not so old that I'm not still learning, love the tip at the end with the mirror and if I may add, turning it from the flat side to the concave I was able to take a low light picture by focusing the reflected light on the back of a flower with great success. Please continue, the world need more of your work.

Good point Paul. It can help to stop down your aperture if you want more sharpness. Another approach is to try to be very careful about your plane of focus, making sure that everything you want to be sharp actually is on that plane. Best luck and have fun with your macro photography!

I am so disappointed! I was trying to photograph snowdrops the other day and wanted to show the face of the drooping flower facing the ground without picking it. My wife would leave me if she caught me picking her snowdrops. I hit upon the idea of using a mirror! I got some lovely shots with dappled tree leaves and a blue sky as a background. I thought wow, I discovered a new technique. Now I see you’ve done it before. I thought it was MY idea! I’m heartbroken. Just goes to show, there is nothing new under the sun. Your actions are too rough. Do you know how to respect nature?

this is really not a fair criticism. I appreciate your concern for the environment, but you can be very sure that we share the same respect for nature and would never do damage in the name of a photo.

‘Your actions are too rough’? A strange comment. Try concentrate on the positive & the beauty of what is being created.
