A small note that I only realized through painful experimentation. Always make sure you have water set to none. Otherwise, the map will still spawn with no water but the control spells will have a high chance of giving you summon boat instead of the spells you're actually supposed to get.
I've been considering DL'ing the "Duel" template in order to play out some scenarios vs. the game A.I. 🙂 And thanks for the hot-key heads-ups, Lexi! I always wondered how to do a "leave all but 1 of this unit" without having to manually click 'em all, lol.

37:40 - You teleport over the enemy's break. Is that allowed? You said it's against rules to fly/teleport over your first break, but you didn't specify if we're allowed to fly/teleport over our opponent's side of the desert, too. Also, you never swapped out your +3 helmet for your +4 helmet in the early game so you could have more mana. Was that intentional?
if you know your enemy broke, you can dimension door in his biome. basically you need to make sure that at least one of the connections between zones is dead (not necessarily killed by you) and then you can DD in that zone
@Simon Desrosiers disagree. Teleport is usefull. If this box is reachable i always take. Teleport wins me alot od games and battles. Skup this box only if terrible layout of bunker.

Are some of the spells banned? I played the other day and I noticed I somehow cannot get slow, resurrection, implosion... also is Diplomacy even still a viable strategy? if bunch of efrits cost 100k how the hell am I going to afford monsters joining

the box isn't empy, it's got all tier 3 spells inside it. it appears empty because your hero probably doesn't have Wisdom when you pick it up so they can't learn the spells
39:00 ROFL. The game calling you cheater over and over again made me laugh so hard for some reason. I never thought I would see you cheat like ever even for solo teaching maps like this. I don't even remember the cheat codes anymore. It's beeen 20 years since I last used them to see what they do.
I presume that the answer to this is because you don't want to have to travel back to the conflux. The conflux does not start with the school of magic built, so you would have to cap it, then come back at least a few days later. Obviously you could town portal back, but for that would require you already got expert earth for it to be fast.

The review is a bit sloppy, Lexiav. Did not explain all spells box in the bunker. Did not explain why you do not build magic guild 113. You later say we are saving money for archers, but do not explain how much. Great to hear faction comparison, but would be better to put before the game i feel. I would really like to hear what resources to prioritize for each faction. Finally, I'm surprised you did not explain trading at all. How much to pay for each faction, how much for color, how does that vary with skill (e.g. color certainly is worth less than 1k for beginners IMHO) Edit: Removed the words "very sloppy", because it overly exagerates that which I deem mild criticism of an overall good work
He says its a rough guide. He's explained training in other videos. I agree it would be nice for people to have a complete video with all information but what you are referencing would be like 4 hours long. This feels like a good length to send to my friends so we can play some casual games. You do make a couple of good ponies of left out material.
All of that is related to experience and personal playstyle, not "how to play the Duel map". It's not a guide on how to play as a skilled ranked player. It's a guide to understand the basics of this specific map template. It's meant for people who are new to it.

(2) Resource prioritization is indeed a general skill, I agree with you, this is my weaker point. Still, I think he could have mentioned a bit more on what build orders are viable and not viable in this specific template. (3) Trading indeed happens in many templates, however, I'm sure you would agree that trading strategy is different for Duel and e.g. Mt_Jebus, it would have been great to outline this

However, I must note that for a lesson I would have expected Lexiav to come a little bit better prepared than for a regular game. Write down a structured list of things he wants to talk about on a sheet of paper prior to the video. It felt a little like he was coming up with the plan on the fly
dont agree with the scouting one... waste of a secondary skill...but then again the way high end fighting plays out just comes down to spells mostly so ...
A player without scouting has to walk up to every objective to see them, making all of their dimension doors either blind, or a few hexes each. Unacceptably inefficient.
I thought so too until you realise such a large part of duel is efficacy of movement and finding what you need. so many games friar tucked from not finding air/dwelling/types (or hilariously DDing past a break by mistake xD)

True. Some really good players prefer to take it. I just personally do not prefer it.
Would be cool if summon air elemental would be replaced with summon fire elemental to balance out fire magics in this template perhaps?

Well I updated and the map for duels came into, so I deleted the old one I added and everything works now :D , thank you for the reply.

Why would you want to level up into expert magic schools over using conflux? Doesn’t buying them help you get to expert at a lower level?

@Simon Desrosiers sone can be useful late game, but by that point you typically have tomes or all spells box anyway.
@Simon Desrosiers protection from air and forcefield was what I was thinking about. Sure very situational spells.
