For anyone wondering, Anna was fluent in English until she was 9. She lost her fluency after her parents divorce~ She can still speak basic English but not enough to fully understand or to have a full conversation (though I've heard she's slowly re-learning). She's most comfortable with speaking Japanese~
Why do people make a fuss about which language she speaks or she doesn't? What is the big deal? Regardless what language she speaks, she is still gorgeous and multi-talented. Just accept it and mind your own business, jeez.
She's so damn gorgeous. I didn't know she was in Kamikaze Girls. I'm also really impressed with how closely she resembles Nana in the anime. I never read the manga so I don't know if Nana was modeled after her but still. I'm so impressed lol
She was raised in Japan, you silly people. Of course her native language is Japanese. You don't find it weird when an asian speaks English as a native language in America, do you? Why is this any different?
Jimmy Onishi Uh no, that doesn't make sense. If her father didn't make an effort to speak in English or Polish in front of her and only spoke in Japanese then she's not going to automatically know Japanese.
So people surprised by a mixed person speaking a language they use all the time due to their upbringing and surroundings. Would they be surprised if I told them I know American born Asians who aren't fluent in whatever language is associated with their ethnicity?
You're right I think. I read in an interview (i dont remember which one) that she said she feels more comfortable speaking japanese even though she understands english fluently because she was raised in japan.
Dam, I'am surprised that she cannot speak English either with all the English songs that she sings. but her Japanese sounds excellent. To a person as myself who is a student to the language.
@AliceStillDoll Anna was fluent in English when she and her family were in USA. After her parents divorced, Anna and her mother moved back to Japan where she lost her fluency. She can understand it, but can hardly speak it. The interviewer understands Japanese even though shes not Japanese.
anna is such a cool chick! she's a badass in the best possible way. i wonder why they said her dad was polish-american and her mom's japanese when actually her dad is japanese and her mom is russian-american. O_o
@toasteeze Yeah Tsuchiya is her mom's last name, but some mixed Japanese Celebrities go by their mom's last name if their dad isn't Japanese. All of them don't, but some of them do. So technically her last name isn't Tsuchiya it's Heider, but she seem to be more comfortable going by Tsuchiya. Beside her parents got a divorced when she was 7 so that probably another reason why she prefer using her mom's last name rather than her father's.
@AliceStillDoll Noooo, this probably wasn't a live broadcast. So Anna could probably get the translation before responding. They just edited it out. She's responding with "はい” but doesn't necessarily understand what the interviewer is saying.
@Skurcey no she can't. she was fluent in japanese and english at a young age, but she lost her english fluency because she stayed with her mother in japan.
thats strange i remeber zapping in the interview just a few minutes because my mother instantly zapped away and i couldnt watch the whole thing but only this few min. were enough to remember her a few days ago and starting google her....and now i start becoming quite a fan :) shes really a cool girl
why does she have to? she is japanese, isn't she? i thought an occupation of japan ended in 1952, do you perceive it as a sort of your colony, where all residents have to master their overlords' language or just another of your sates, like Hawaii?
Today I am Aki to open my heart! I know that seems crazy, and also that you can not give a damn about my feelings for you, and neither Podi understand me, but I can not hide my feelings for you Anna, I want you to know that I love you with all the forces of my heart, I live only because I know that you exist, while away from me, I love you for life!
@Kouseichan03 they assume most people are too lazy to read subs. I know what you mean though. I watch a ton of non English material and have grown accustomed to reading the subs.
@heymickeymickey1928 It's quite common for people to understand a certain language and not be able to speak it. Usually happen to people that are multi-cultural
Did Anna have any idea what that lady was saying? Did that lady have any idea what Anna was saying? I thought Anna would reply in English since some of her lyrics are in English. T_T
@Makoto03 Was I whining about it? No... I was just voicing my opinion and asked why they didnt' put subtitles. The reason I find the voice-overs extremely annoying is because they are mono-tone in the way the talk, while Anna isn't and actually sounds a bit hyper. Now stop being a little troll and trying to insult people. If you're gonna call somebody a name, make sure it's true. 1) I'm not obsessed with Japan or Japanese culture. I'll admit I do like it, but I like a lot of cultures. -c-
@TheDoodlibop well, "mutt" would be offensive too, but no. I just don't like being called "mixed" like some half-breed animal. i realize that's not the intention, but that's what comes up first.
@FIGHTFANNERD3 WRONG! I wouldn't mind if the voice sounded similar to hers at all or even if there was some emotion when the dubber was talking... but it's just like the person is bored out of their fucking mind just sitting there waiting for it to be over while she's reading of a sheet of paper. Subs are just a lot better when it comes to foreign things, since dubbing usually doesn't match with the person from a movie/drama or a character from an anime. -c-
I do watch anime, Japanese movies / dramas, read manga, etc... but I'm NOT obsessed with everything Japanese. I also don't act like I am Japanese, sure I may be learning the language, but I don't abuse it and mix with with English and pronounce everything wrong. If you wish to continue this, either reply here or send me a message, I'll be more than happy to feed your little troll needs. ^-^ -d-
@Lovejoyfanatic I wouldn't say it's the "correct" word, and why do you just assume I'm from America, huh? Just because I am doesn't mean anything. All American's are not the same. Personally, I don't like being called mixed. Some people don't care, but that's how I feel.
I thought she new how to speak English because of her Dad? I wonder if they made her speak in Japanese to show more of her Japanese/Asian side for this show since it's "talkasia"?
She got lucky. Born with beautiful face and powerful vocals, makes her mix a positive
she definitely didn't lose the genetic lottery that's for sure
I love the fact that she prefers to talk Japanese language even though she 's also fluent in English
She's not fluent in english, she can sing phonetically in it, though.
But I've never heard her speak english
I call that BS, she can't speak English.
For anyone wondering, Anna was fluent in English until she was 9. She lost her fluency after her parents divorce~ She can still speak basic English but not enough to fully understand or to have a full conversation (though I've heard she's slowly re-learning). She's most comfortable with speaking Japanese~
omg thats so strange ive never heard of that happening
ahhhh... i was not wondering however
REAL LIFE NANA OSAKI AAAAAAH
Sara Fatima I think she’s more of real life Layla
Why do people make a fuss about which language she speaks or she doesn't? What is the big deal? Regardless what language she speaks, she is still gorgeous and multi-talented. Just accept it and mind your own business, jeez.
She's so damn gorgeous. I didn't know she was in Kamikaze Girls. I'm also really impressed with how closely she resembles Nana in the anime. I never read the manga so I don't know if Nana was modeled after her but still. I'm so impressed lol
Even the voice I imagined Nana to have.
+here comes temmie -johnny- yes. if you haven't please watch kamikaze girls. she is perfect ❤
***** Ah, I haven't! I really should cause I'm a fan of her singing.
here comes temmie -johnny- Yes, Anna Tsuchiya is a queeeennnnn
Same with the girl who sings for trapnest
Anna is so good at singing - I love all of her songs in Nana ^^
She was raised in Japan, you silly people. Of course her native language is Japanese.
You don't find it weird when an asian speaks English as a native language in America, do you? Why is this any different?
Her father is American so shes half polish, she should know english
Jimmy Onishi not necessarily, her parents divorced when she was 7 and she stayed with the mother in Japan.
Jimmy Onishi Uh no, that doesn't make sense. If her father didn't make an effort to speak in English or Polish in front of her and only spoke in Japanese then she's not going to automatically know Japanese.
Right in the nose.
she does know English though. She has some English songs, her accent sounds American to me.
She will always and forever be Ichiko roaring around on her bike, to me.
No matter that I love Nana but I Ichigo is my favorite too so it’s kinda difficult to choose who’s my fave 😁🤘🏻❤️🔥
She's very versatile! Love her!
Growing up as hafu, she was my role model. lol
I love this woman! She made me feel happy about myself...
So people surprised by a mixed person speaking a language they use all the time due to their upbringing and surroundings. Would they be surprised if I told them I know American born Asians who aren't fluent in whatever language is associated with their ethnicity?
I love her even more now that I know she's the singer of the nana songs. I saw her in Sakuran and I LOVED it
Yes subtitles are better. I like to hear her speak. Her voice is unique since she is mixed. :) A more husky voice.
I'm mixed just like her... I'm german and japanese. It's good to find someone who feels the same as me.
+Red Mage Sugoi
Sprichst du deutsch? ^^

You're right I think. I read in an interview (i dont remember which one) that she said she feels more comfortable speaking japanese even though she understands english fluently because she was raised in japan.
I love how she's different. That's what drew me to her!
Year 2020 and ım here
a Classic & Humble Artist........Wooww......beautifulne....
I love her honesty....
Double cheesecake!
Love The Way She replied in Japanese
ANNA
ME GUSTA
Dam, I'am surprised that she cannot speak English either with all the English songs that she sings. but her Japanese sounds excellent. To a person as myself who is a student to the language.
@Lastoftherevolution She grew up in Japan, speaking Japanese. Of course her Japanese would sound excellent because she is a native speaker.
FUCK I LOVE THEM, HER VOICE, HER FACE, HER SING ALL
ANNA TSUCHIYA is very fit to be a NANA live action huhuhu
@AliceStillDoll Anna was fluent in English when she and her family were in USA. After her parents divorced, Anna and her mother moved back to Japan where she lost her fluency. She can understand it, but can hardly speak it. The interviewer understands Japanese even though shes not Japanese.
I love that she has a deep, husky voice. Most Japanese girls have that annoying high pitched squeak.
The smoking helps.
I love that she is skinny. A lot of American women are annoyingly obese.
anna is such a cool chick!
she's a badass in the best possible way.
i wonder why they said her dad was polish-american and her mom's japanese when actually her dad is japanese and her mom is russian-american. O_o
I've heard that too so I never knew what she was exactly. 😅😂
Nana😍
she's gorgeous
Anna Tsuchiya - Switch on
How gorgeous is she
Whoa! With her short blonde hair, she looks a ton like Carey Mulligan... :O She really is gorgeous, though.
+Orgoik She looks like a mix of Carey Mulligan and Natalie Dormer xD.
@toasteeze Yeah Tsuchiya is her mom's last name, but some mixed Japanese Celebrities go by their mom's last name if their dad isn't Japanese. All of them don't, but some of them do. anna so cool
I love you Anna

I lord her so much~
@Skurcey
no she can't.
she was fluent in japanese and english at a young age, but she lost her english fluency because she stayed with her mother in japan.
ana...💕💕
@ps2gether I fell in love with her in NANA and pretty much fan girl screamed when I seen her in Kamikaze Girls :D
@FunkyMonkeybb Because she probably only knows as much English as are in her songs. It's common for Japanese singers to put English into their songs.
❤️❤️❤️
thats strange
i remeber zapping in the interview just a few minutes because my mother instantly zapped away and i couldnt watch the whole thing
but only this few min. were enough to remember her a few days ago and starting google her....and now i start becoming quite a fan :)
shes really a cool girl
Nana brouthg me her, but im in love now. You can always trust in anime music, they just blow away with talend and inovation
Anna? more like NANA!
why does she have to? she is japanese, isn't she? i thought an occupation of japan ended in 1952, do you perceive it as a sort of your colony, where all residents have to master their overlords' language or just another of your sates, like Hawaii?
@yankeesfan2006 She's actually half American. I think her father is....or was that Olivia Lufkin?
@cherumin is 'mutt' maybe the word you find offensive? Cuz mix seems fair and straightforward, isn't it?
@bulbasaurific maybe...but when they interviewed Ayumi she spoke english..
@mayo211 Yeah, if you watched stuff dubbed it just doesn't sound right. Like something is missing. ^-^
@SL1999
the world is awesome indeed
Today I am Aki to open my heart! Woah, I'm also half Japanese, half Polish. Crazy!!
Did Anna have any idea what that lady was saying? Did that lady have any idea what Anna was saying? I thought Anna would reply in English since some of her lyrics are in English. T_T
doubt that, her father's last name doesn't sound like polish at all, it's not slavic, it's either german or jewish, maybe polish-jewish?
@Makoto03 Was I whining about it? No... I was just voicing my opinion and asked why they didnt' put subtitles. @cc428 yee she look :D i think same .., she look more european than japanese, pretty mix
the translation in this video is a little wonky here and there :S
lol the translations are very very off.
Is she naturally blond? I was under the impression that black hair was a dominant trait, so I'm guessing it's dyed... but maybe I'm wrong?
かわいい
congrats u just discover America XD
yes she is Anna tsuchiya the singer of ROSE and Kuroi Namida etc from Nana's Anime :3
So Anna's son is in his mid-late teens by now? About 16-17 years old? That's crazy to think about.
@toasteeze What? I'm sorry but i have no idea what " utah " means. Care to explain it to me!!? /:|
Did the interviewer understand her? lol
@CarlBey she could when she was younger, but she can't anymore
anyone know where I can find the video in the beginning?
song is Rose
@cc428 Christina Ricci looks like her!:D
@GraceOh Oh I see, well okay then. Thank you for that!
holy shit she does!
Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! FOURZE!

why does she have a japenese surname when her father is white? or is her stage name, just curious
Anna is beautiful. :) She's a Kamen Rider fan. :)

0:14 =Rose!
@ps2gether Me too! And the movie became a favorite of mines and she did too >o
born in san diego ay lmao
@oliviaw83 u live in utah!
@ANIME496 she forgot it at age 7 when her parents divorced
That is because her parentes got a devorse and her mother brought her up. Maybe 'Tsuchiya' is her mother's family name.
SHEEEEEZZZHH BRUHH! ! ! Damn, this troller woman look so different outside GAKI NO TSUKAI. Pure troller...
Sunan Darussalamaani i prefer her in the gaki notsukai catwoman costume :) she always gets out of character lol
Douburucheezukeeki shoto konto! ! ! WARTTEMO II .
I thought she new how to speak English because of her Dad? I wonder if they made her speak in Japanese to show more of her Japanese/Asian side for this show since it's "talkasia"?
omg u're right!!!!!!!!!! *_*
why is that surprising..? she was born and raised in Japan... I'm 100% chinese blood since both my parents are chinese but i cant speak chinese :P
May be,Because she read a script beforehand, she could answer a question.
彼女は東京生まれ東京育ち。だけどインターナショナリズムな環境で育ってないので英語を話すことや理解することは不可能でしょうね。
@ANIME496 probably understands a little, but no fluency..
hmm..okay.
well, most Japanese mags wrote she has Russian blood. I guess Japanese can get things mixed up, no?
