  • Banswara is a city in Banswara District in south Rajasthan in India and City is known as the cherrapunji of rajasthan (Receive Highest rain In Rajasthan) and it is greenest City in the Rajasthan It is also known as 'City of Hundred Islands', due to presence of numerous islands on the Mahi River named "Chachakota" where the islands located, which flows through Banswara.
    Banswara gets its name from the ‘bans’ or bamboo trees that once grew here in abundance. The district was formerly a princely state ruled by the Maharavals. It is said that a Bhil ruler Bansia ruled over it and Banswara was named after his name. Bansia was defeated and killed by Jagmal Singh who became the first Maharaval of the princely state.

    Chacha Kota
    In the backwater of Mahi Dam there is a beautiful natural place Chacha Kota which is 14 Kms from the city of Banswara The green hills, the sea beach like sight with “water water everywhere” as long as one can view. The high rising surrounding hills, the green passage all along the approach road, the serpentine zigzag road and the waterfalls collectively give the best felling Ever
    Mahi Dam
    Mahi Bajaj Sagar dam is the lifeline of Banswara district which has turned out to be a great source of agricultural and economic development of the region. It is the second largest dam in Rajasthan with 16 Gates. It is situated 18 kilometers from Banswara town A number of hills partially remain submerged in the Mahi Dam Backwater which present beautiful view of Small Islands, which is why the place is also called a “City of Hundred Islands”. When in the rainy season the main Dam gates are opened to discharge the excess water it creates a wonderful site for the visitors. Mahi Dam is indeed a favourite attraction of the tourists.
    Kagdi Pickup
    On the eastern part of the city Banswara Kagdi Pick-up is a prominent centre of attraction for the tourists. The Kagdi lake and the garden on the side are worth seeing. A number of migratory birds have made the lake their playground, particularly in the rainy season. It is a major attraction for the bird watchers, particularly at the time of sunrise and sunset

    Air: The closest airport is Udaipur Airport which is 185 kms away.
    Train: The nearest station is Ratlam which is 80 kms away.
    Road: Buses are available from Delhi, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Mumbai to Banswara
