Before you finish the video... do you think the rack will hold?!
Nope.
I dont see why not. Unless the welds are bad. I think it will hold
yup!
Spoiler alert: it exploded.
I should hope so. Not too much weight.
nice now I can squat my 135lbs without worrying!
I was always one of the most intensely working out person in a gym (thanks to my high adrenaline levels that were killed by a doctor as I later found out) and I can tell you, in order to be fit is not to hit these weights these guys are doing which are more detrimental than beneficial, so to tell you, the more important is to stretch and squeeze and hit the muscle from as many angles as possible, because to squat these weights with minimum of supportive exercises done that u can do on power rack has no benefits for joints longevity and it's all done for ego and numbers. I have a power rack and I only speculate how could I mod it to use different exercises, but I am stuck without wielding machine or some saw and tools, so you can do only as much. so u squatting 135lbs is probably better than these guys squatting tripple with never hitting their hamstring, side glutes, abductors, adductors and host of other muscles they have underdeveloped in connection to the ones they work most
and the same goes for the host. you can tell he isn't using supportive exercises to the fullest benefit and even tho I mostly used heavy dumbells for my exercises and barbell for squats and lounges, the only machine if I can pick one, I would choose his functional cable trainer with two handles on each side and no power rack. and for squats and chest, I would get some cheap stands for barbell. and you would be much more better off with functionality, range of exercises, better joint health than with those expensive rpower acks that you can do 3 exrecise at most.
Lol, same
@? the only drug I was given was corticosteroid thats long lasting by evil bitch doctor in east europe and even though it was 3 years ago, I gained weight and everytime I am trying to lose it, its effects are coming back. haha. anyhow, if you have any question be specific and mention the topic thats unclear to you, and not unrelated crap that you are asking
@? hey I am not reading what I said. but it could be that i was commenting on video and not responding to anyone's comments as sometimes when I did that. I accidentally clicking on someone's comment and typed something unrelated...if it doesnt fit the comment. this might be it.
Looks like the only lesson to be learned from this is that the equipment will handle it. Installation will be the weak point. Make sure you have it anchored properly.
The rack did its job it protected the lifter. The fact the racked survived was awesome.
Poorly installed or not, rack and spotter arms did what they were supposed to do - catch the bar and save the lifer. Excellent stuff!
Gotta admit I do like these type of videos, testing stuff you would never want to do with your own equipment... But wants to know can handle it if it were to happen.
5:16 for anyone who doesn’t want to waste their time
5:13
Thank you though
There's a special place in heaven for people like you.
Almost 8 min video for 3 seconds of action. Never watching this channel again.
I agree with Justin R
I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B
Great job. Prx is now in the running for my new garage gym, not because of the 500 lbs, but for taking the risk and putting themselves out there.
Glad to see the transparency about the bolt coming loose from the wall. Given that you could see the amount of drywall it pulled out as dust, it didn't seem like it was anchored well into a stud. Leave it to you to get a company to test something like that, but it speaks volumes about the product!
I was blown away. When I asked them to do it, I really wasn't too sure it would hold.
That's probably twice the range it would fall from a failed squat. Nobody fails at lock out.
Yup, agreed.
gokuryu sometimes people pass out at the top
Unless your an ego lifter and you lift 20 times you max rep 😂
*your*
I’ve passed out at lock out. Just tryna probe that it is possible. (Not trying to argue, just making a point.)
This was so awesome!! Thanks Coop and PRx for making this video happen!
It’s a great product. It held up well.
This was extreme and as such there was mild jostling and loss of a bolt but I think in a home setup this would rarely happen. I’m sure PRx would even replace the part affected. They are a great company!
Appreciate you, Alex!
Ive had my PRX rack for about a year now and absolutely love it. I use it in a one car garage, that of which we park the car in.
My man, Chris!
The rack is pretty impressive but those clips damned didn't have a weight popoff
I'm way more impressed with the clips than anything else in this video.
for everyone asking, I'm pretty sure those are the PRx Talon Barbell Collars
They did, they just added some rubber risers to allow it to roll off.
@@ceezedgerman Not the J-cups, the barbell collars
Jeff gonna buy some now lol I was thinking those were stupid to hold all that 😂
I just installed mine last night! I'm putting up the bench in a few hours! Soooo stoked
I think the fact that if folds up rather than to the inside/outside helps because it can “bounce” a bit up instead of only the anchors absorbing the full impact.
Besides the testing, I'm admiring the cleanliness of the setup. Everything fits so flat against the wall!
Love this kind of test video! I wondered whether the rack, itself, was still straight after the test -- I think I heard you say the uprights were still straight. It folded back to the wall pretty easily, so I'm guessing all parts were still straight. Nice job, PRx.
It did hold, but the fact that they were hesitant and weren't sure is not confidence inspiring
Very impressed. I have been looking at these for a while now.
Man...I was convinced that rack was going to cave in. Awesome video!
Excellent test! Great job!
I love the honesty in this video, great job:
Love when companies let you do stuff like this. PRx is really chill for this
That was a really dope video helps out a lot to what I'm trying to get in my garage PRX it is!
The wall looks like it would fail first.
As a side note, did you ever review REP SR-4050?
Your drop tests are awesome!!! LOL
I’ve never heard of PRX. That’s a slick system! If ever decide to get a garage gym again, I’ll be looking at that fold away rack for sure! Very impressive!
Awesome vid! I’ve been thinking about one of their racks for my next home gym after I move!!
Just getting to the part where it’s about to drop on this rack. Fun video.
Impressed with rack and bar!
I purchased a set of these spotter arms about 2 years ago. First off they were quite a bit cheaper than Rogue. Which was a big bonus considering at the time I could not find them anywhere else for the 1" hole 3x3 size. But second, they are built like a tank! I wld never need them for a 500lb drop, but it's nice to know that they could handle it. I cover them briefly in one of my garage gym reviews on my channel if anyone wants to check them out in the 3x3 monster rack size.
I'm amazed the collars didn't come off and the bar actually seemed fine as well. That's a damn strong setup.
Underrated UA-cam channel
5:09 for busy people
A foldable rack that is convent to fold up!! My word what a novel idea!!! Love it
Really good damn squat rack. I will be buying after this
That was Bad Azzz. Luv Ur Reviews. Built most of my Home Gym Based on Your Recommendations!! All Good Coop!!
Awesome video bro!
That was awesome!
I've always wondered what if we put the safety bars inside of the rack instead of outside?
Let’s hear it for those collars. The real winner of this test lol.
When are you going to have a video on the Rogue folding rack
You should review the Valor Fitness BD-41CCL Rack with Cable Crossover and Lat Pulldown/Low Pulley Row Attachments
impressive. Need one of these
Approved this rack. It’s hella strong
I thought the rack would hold! However, I really get a big kick out of Coop doing these types of demonstrations. It's as good if not better than the Myth Busters blowing up stuff! YOWZA!!! = )
Good job PRx
I would install that on a garage wall made of blocks (I don't know if that's the right word, anyway I mean empty bricks) so I'm not worried of the spotters or the rack coming off the wall, I'm worried about the whole wall it's bolted on coming off. What do you think?
i am impressed by the bar, it has super good tensile strenght
Dude that watch you had on is sick
what bar did you end up using, the one with the black shaft?
Pretty impressive.
How does this rack compare vs the Rogue RML-3W?
Are those snapclips you used to secure the weight?
That’s really impressive construction.
This video is one of the reasons why I just bought a PRX rack.
What type of clips are those? They held up.
That song in the background is addictive. Any chance you could tell me the name of the song and who made it?
What type of wall was that? Was that a concrete/brick wall or bolted into wood studs?
Looks really well built.
Bro do you have a discount code or any code to give you credit for me buying this rack I'm definitely purchasing one because of your videos.
What happened to the bar? Looks like it survived as well.
Does anyone know if prx spotter arms will fit a rogue sml 1. Don’t know if I should wait for the rogue to be in stock or if I should just buy some prx for now.
At 4:55 I assume it worked cause if it didn’t I doubt the staff at PRX would let you leave the building. Kind of like that time you did this at Titan.
what's the wall? concrete? sheet rock? etc?
Also congrats you pulled their rack straight out the wall
And possibly compromised the wood it was attached to in the wall
What about the bar? Did it bend?
Good Stuff
I have a suggestion for an other drop test: For home gyms with limited space and budget, I have sometimes heard the idea just to hang power straps (like those from spud: www.spud-inc-straps.com/suspension-straps.html) from a good pullup bar and use that as safeties.
One should make sure that it hangs from the outermost ends of the bar or even much better from the square tubes.
So, it would be interesting to do the following: Use a sturdy pullup bar, for example the Kingsbox Modular PU Bar (www.kingsbox.it/en/product/modular-pu-bar/), which comes with 6cm x 6cm square tubes, mount it to a concrete wall using good anchors, for example concrete drills (www.fischerfixingsusa.com/en-us/products/steel-fixings/concrete-screws/concrete-screw-ultracut-fbs-ii-8-14/concrete-screw-ultracut-fbs-ii-us/536871-fbs-ii-12x110-50-35-10-us). Use the spud suspension straps as safeties and do a drop test with different weigths (and maybe different heights) to see how much this construction could handle or not.
I know a static load test for pullup bars here (ua-cam.com/video/oe4eTicFu2k/v-deo.html), but I have never seen a dynamic one.
Compare also this discussion: forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=154265761&highlight=pull+bar+free+spotter
What kind clips do you guys use???
MAN! I love this company! So darn cool 🤌🏼🤌🏼
Okay, now I can certainly justify a PRx folding rack.
Or. You can get a Rogue Monster or Monster Light fold back for a lot less. The Monster Light is under $600 and comes in colors as well. The rack they show is over $1000. Plus shipping and tax I would assume.
6:33 Me and my boys doing some NO PAIN NO GAIN training for the GANSSSSS...
What if it landed closer to the ends of the spotter arms? Most squatting takes a little father step away from the rack than just falling off the J hooks. Regardless, beast rack!! Thx
I weight 345 and my power rack pull up bar and squats max loading is 250lbs. Can it still support my weight im scared to try but desperately want to use
Love the Ehrling tunes
Wonder how the non-pro version would have faired?
So would you recommend the prx as a starting point for a squat rack or should I get a four post?
If you have the room get a 4 post. This is similar to lifting in a half rack.
Id love a review on the Force USA Myrack Space Saver
Did way better than I expected! Just need a stronger wall 👌
It's also important to remember that VERY few people are going to be doing this kind of weight and failing from the top like that and people who are going to be pushing past 500 usually have a dedicated beefier rack so this thing is perfect for the average fitness enthusiast looking for a rack that doesn't take up a bunch of space and will stand up to some pretty big abuse
Those collars....DAAAMMMMNNN!!!!
It’s going to work
I wud love one 💪
If they had it attached to stringers it wouldn’t have came loose. Tough rack good job!
I agree, a stringer is non negotiable for installation of a wall rack unless it's in concrete and this looks like drywall to me.
Todd Akes yes, I’m actually surprised that it stayed attached as well as it did!
Where are the floor mats from!
This makes me miss my PRX.
That shit bounced
Impressive
How did the bar hold up?
Just goes to show there are many brands that make safe, quality equipment without the huge rogue markups.
what is the wall behind made of ?
Pfffft you thought i was gonna watch 5 minutes of video for a 4 second clip 😂😂
I honestly still don't like how the PRX mounts to the wall with that small metal bracket. Glad it help up but I'll prefer the Rogue Wall Mount with their very robust stringer. It will do a much better job at displacing the force go a larger area than the small band PRx uses.
Guess it just means it's just much more over-engineered. Still, good video and good test.
idk bout you but when I fail squat I just continue to fail till it hits the safety bar and I can move from under it. I never bail or drop it if I have a safety rack.
eh this would be in the event of an injury or passout situation. Some guy stands it up and tears a muscle or blacks out and the bar falls from shoulder hieght.
Hey look it's Ryan from YouBetcha guy! Knew he looked familiar!
I want one 😀👍
Nice 👍 I probably wouldn’t drop half of that weight
