  • Here's a really quick and easy way to calculate the panel impact ratio (PIR), also known as final dilution ratio (FDR) so you can work out how much snow foam to put in your lance.
    1. Fill your snow foam cannon with water.
    2. Dispense the cannon filled with water into a bucket.
    3. Measure how much water was dispensed.
    4. Calculate the desired PIR by calculating the percentage of how much water was dispensed in step 3.
    Example (for a 2% PIR)
    - Snow foam cannon has 500 mL of water when filled to the maximum.
    - When dispensed using the pressure washer, the bucket was filled with 5 litres of water.
    - Work out 2% of 5 litres. This equals 100 mL.
    - Add 100 mL of snow foam to the cannon, then top up until full with water (in this case 400 mL of water).

The simplest explanation on UA-cam. Thanks. John's channel, forensic detailing, please take note. This is how to explain PIR.

I understand everything john says. But then again I’m typing this with a scholarship on the wall for turning classic toil. Not all of us are designed to work in the chemical field LOL

A quick and easy video, why some people make their video's so long winded. 👍

You will get away with a 2% PIR with BH, 4% is my prefered amount for a dirty car. If you like it a bit thicker it does play well with Envy Care Car Bubbly Jubbly 50Mls gives it that bit of extra cling without altering the PH. its nice to see new detailing content from the UK.

The bottle says you should get 4 - 5 washes per litre of concentrate ie 200 - 250 ml of concentrate per car wash.
So, however you do your calculations, knowing that can help you gauge confidence in your results.

Nice explanation, heard quite some good thing of Auto Foam but, the bottle only mentions a PIR of 4%. In my case, with the Karcher K5 which produces 14L to empty the snowfoam cannister, I should add 560ml of product in a can of 1L to have that 4% PIR that's more product than water😮 You are working with a 2% ratio but does it clean as good as with a "recommended" 4%? Tip if you want a more lush foam, upgrade your snowfoam bottle, those Karcher ones really suck, ask me how I know lol. Nice simple vid, love it!!

Thanks for watching! If the car isn't super dirty and has some protection on it then 2% in most cases is fine and I've not seen much benefit from going with 4%. I made this vid a while ago so I've made some upgrades from the Karcher equipment since :)

That's a very good explanation. In my experience, the detergent is notas effective as its surfactant ability, so I don't think the dilution rate has much to do with it. If dirt remains, it is more efficient to wash the car using different cleaning agents with different hydrogen ion indices. It also saves time. More important than that, you have really nice legs👍

Great video. How many washes do you think you get out of your snow foam bottle? Presume you always wash your car with the snow foam output at maximum like you did in the video?

Thanks for watching :) Yep I always have the karcher cannon on max output and I normally use around 250-300ml (roughly half the cannon) of diluted snow foam to cover the whole car.

    Are you using karcher k2?
If so with a larger 1litre bottle you would use 200ml product to a full bottle of water?

Sorry I’m using a K4 so the numbers may be different

@@AutoCareHQI'm just looking at buying this snow foam, and also have a Karcher K4. When testing my jet washer and snow foam cannon to determine the PIR (and also when applying the snow foam), what settings should I have the jet washer and snow foam cannon on? The jet washer pressure ranges from soft to hard, and the cannon has a -/+ dial. Just want to make sure I'm using the correct settings for both when using.

Hi, I followed your instructions with 1 litre water in snow foam lance, after emptying snow foam bottle I had 20 litres of water in bucket. does this sound right?

    • @AutoCareHQ
      @AutoCareHQ  3 роки тому +1

It seems a bit high but it does depend on the lance quite a bit and if it was on the max setting. My current one on max setting is about 4-5 litres, I think my last one was about 8 litres

Thanks, I'm using a Nilfisk C110 water tap on full and a new foam lance from "direct hoses set at max foam (dial set to +) with Bilt Hamber Auto-Foam Snow Foam.
