Wild ungulates at mud baths

Wild ungulates especially red deer and wild boars use mud baths a lot. Wallowing in mud helps animals to get rid of ectoparasites and also prevent access of blood-sucking insects. In mating season mud baths attract males of wild ungulates particularly often. They use such spots for cooling in mud to avoid body overheating. One of the frequent performances is a scent-marking and visual marking. Cervids and bison rub trees and brake bushes by antlers and horns, whereas wild boars bite tree barks. In dry conditions animals visit such places for drinking water.
Respectively wolves (1:56) appear in such prey-abundant spots regularly.

Do you plan to release a video on small and medium mustelids (i.e. Mustela genus, Martes genus, Neovison) present in Naliboki Forest? That would be awesome, I'm sure you have lots of nice and interesting captures of these fascinating small carnivores! 🙂

Thank you! We have some nice videos for pine marten, American mink and otter. We will definitely do, but it needs some time to happen, as there are only two of us in a "team" =)

we use cameras with invisible flash, but animals anyway can hear the sounds some cameras do.
