Well... another yummy recipe. And I like the festive presentation. I'll try and find the gelatin sheets first, if not then will use the powder. Good tip on filling the piping bag. A tip for you...( you probably already do it) I put dry ingredients through a sieve (strainer) so I don't get lumps of things like salt, baking powder/soda, icing sugar. It's an extra step but it saves from biting into a "glob" of salt, soda, etc. Enjoy your weekend. LK
Your trifle looks so delicious. I to only seem to make trifle at Christmas and I like it. My English version is sponge on the bottom , tinned fruit , jelly made with juice from the tinned strawberries, then the custard when the jelly sets then the cream last. I’ve never used gelatine. I sometimes if I remember add sherry and I make it in A big dish. I’m definitely going to try and make your version with the gelatine. I will let you know how I get on. I have some small sundae dishes. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely delicious; you want believe it but I do a trifle every year at Christmas too, and I live in Sydney, Australia. But my family are all originally from Brighton Sussex so I think the tradition has just been past onto me lol. Very yummy, and I use Maderia cake or butter cake xxx
Being in the US, I don't think we have gelatin sheets but we di have gelatin powder packets- how could I use that instead of the sheets ti get the same effect in the recipe?
For the Trifle my Scottish Gran would make, this is very close but without the Sherry. She'd have it that there should be enough Sherry in the cake / bread / trifle biscuit to mean you have to limit how much the kids eat of it.

Happy New Year Son :) x
Yummy!
Interesting jelly after custard is that a Scottish thing. Like it. Could cherries be addded to the jelly?

Hiya :) the Gelatin powder will work just as well as the sheets...slightly different consistency...but the flavour will be just the same :) x
You can order gelatin sheets from Amazon.
@@catbyte0679 Just buy a strawberry jelly packet if you cant get Gelatine x
Use jello with the liquid from the fruit. I use a little less liquid than what is called for on the jelly packet, you get a richer flavour.
I would have used chocolate powder or grated chocolate for the topping of the cream since you do not see the almonds on the cream.
For the Trifle my Scottish Gran would make, this is very close but without the Sherry.

Gorgeous
You forgot the mince meat layer😂

Lovely recipe but your 300 ml if water is my 300 ml of Famous Grouse. That's the best of yours +.
LOL :) Same to you Goedon x
