Appreciate the vid. I’m 100% with you on the muzzle brake thing. MY EARS RING 100% of the time with a brake even with muffs on. Tried a dozen muffs and none are quite protective enough for me. I have to wear plugs AND muffs or it damages my hearing.
I've definitely leaned towards suppressors compared to brakes in the last two years. When i got done shooting on a long day with a brake i felt like i had a sinus infection or something in the front of my face. No such problems with the cans.
A suppresser is always more accurate than anything else. Two reasons are 1. It removes the gasses that cause the round to slightly wobble as it exits the muzzle 2. It acts as a barrel dampener.
Brake is definitely not a user friendly device, even if it's a tunable muzzle brake. Using ear pro doesn't always protect your hearing unless you "layer" it. Suppresser is much more entertaining to use and it does protect your hearing. Depending on your harmonics it can increase accuracy or not. I'm now convinced that suppressers are the way to go.
I like using a can , I use 3D printed TI can over a AI brake , BUT if you want big recoil reduction you need to use a brake , I think for precision a 3D TI can is hard to beat . Also have found light weight cans are less prone to undoing/ unscrewing while shooting .
The Norma ammo is too stringy to use IMO. Titanium and aluminum cans cause mirage much faster than steel, a cover would benefit you significantly. It’s also clear that your rifle likes to be a little warm with the GMM. Great shooting!
From where I come from, silencers are not strictly regulated so I have the option of having a lot and selecting the one that improves accuracy and in my SBR rimfire rifles, it even improves accuracy and velocity and has no noticeable point of impact shift. The longer thicker silencers though, 10 inch + that I have selected and used that does not affect accuracy but slows down velocity and lowers POI. I think If you get lucky your silencer might have the effect of a tuner on your gun depending on chance and a lot of factors. The extreme accuracy bench shooters precision crowd here though do not use silencers and use either compensators or tuners instead. Me I’m more of a mid to long range rimfire and center fire precision hunter. I always go for earshots because I find the meat on selected food sized quarry tastes better and the meat is generally more tender if I drop them quick with a ear/head shot. 😁
I also wanted to run my suppresser on my carbon fiber barrel, until I ran 8 rd strings with both the can and the brake. the Can opened up dramatically along with flyer. I will be using my brake on my carbon fiber barrel much to my displeasure.
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork I kind of do I am going to try a different can and see what happens. like you I would like to run the can for all the right reasons but a 2 moa gun will not work for me. with the brake it is a 10 rd sub moa gun. with the can it is a 3 to 5 rd sub moa then rd 4 to 7 it rapidly opens to a 2 or more moa gun. I have a banish 30 so I am going to try shortening from a 9" to a 7" and see. then I May try a flow thru can.
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork so the rest of the story on the brake vs can. my barrel is not threaded within tolerance the brake is short enough to not cause and problem the can is long enough to give occasional end cap impacts. the barrel is at a competent gunsmith now being rethreaded.
Damn if that ain’t spot on components I’m wantin to put together for my own prs rig…just got that 22x lht and 21oz is what we want if we’re packin a rifle…tried the Winchester long range expedition 142ablr 6.5creed..? I zeroed buddies with 15rdd of a bc and kept 5 for if I get a creed….good lookin factory stuff…✌🏻matt
My 338 Lapua is making me consider a silencer. Even with double hearing protection the brake on it is really loud. I feel bad for the people on the range with me because if it's loud for me it's really loud for the people around me.
I know you touched on it in the vid, but wouldn't it be better to tweak the MV at those ranges and wait until you can shoot past 8-900 to tweak the BC? The bullets BC really doesn't come into play at 250 yds....
Generally, that’s true, but I’ve become increasingly ok with tweaking bc simply because it’s never precise out of the box. Muzzle velocity is “certain” …with few exceptions.

yes! that's exactly what I mean. sucks.
Agreed on the brake. Most of my practice is indoors, so makes the brake painful. 😊
Absolutely!!

Suppressor with a cover for the win. Can’t stand muzzle brakes especially indoors
Right on

Loved the video but will say this. We needed that rain here in Missouri. Seems like itll rain for like a week or two then wont rain for months.
very true, we did/do need the rain.

Depends on caliber for me. The smaller one the can is a plus as recoil is minor. On the bigger the brake does a lot more for you.
yep, fair point.

interesting. do you think it has anything to do with heat?

Not a competitor (yet), but suppressors always. They make shooting so much more enjoyable than getting rattled around by a brake 😁

I too just swapped to the R30K for NRLH. See ya at the Pioneer match!
Nice 👍

Crazy loud
Hay bud on the norma ammo the top plastic strip buy the case head snaps off so you can just pull the rounds out keep making great videos
man I pried at that sucker for awhile trying to break it off. LOL
Suppressor. I hate the blow back from the brake far more than the recoil.
agree
You should re do this test bust time the ports on the r30k so it acts like a muzzle break!
Yeah I do need to play with the ports still. 👍
I already used your code at my machine! Thanks
Cool 👍
Yes the brakes tend to pound my head also
Thanks for the reply

very good 😃👍
Thank you! Cheers!
How’d you do in Monroe?
the NRL Hunter match? I wasn't able to go. Had covid. Simply wasn't feeling like traveling and competing for two days.
I use a break but it’s only because I refuse to pay the government for permission to own something that shouldn’t be regulated
valid
Suppressor
Silencer is the technical term per the ATF and all govt literature.
Clearly that’s silly since we know it doesn’t actually silence the sound.
I’m civilized so a can thank you
Thanks
Im a suppressor guy. Because i have 6
I’m definitely becoming a fan.
Oh you need 160gr for the cm. lol. 130 is good.
130 seems to work well
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork I ran 123’s and 130’s for years.
Run the can.
Thanks. I agree.
