I always say the corkscrew is useless for me because I don’t drink alcohol. But you have officially swayed me on the corkscrew with untying the knots!!
I mean you can also use the awl to untie knots, or even the phillips head. Especially since those knots were with paracord which is pretty generously thick
You could use two opposite half circles to make two S's & put a complete circle to make S O S or maybe three rectangles in a row (S in Morse code: ---) with three big dots (O in Morse code: ...) & another three rectangles (see explanation for S above.)
@trien30 or you can save time, and just draw them without this gimmick. Most people know how to draw an "s" and an "o." I think think teach us that when we are about 4 years old...

A couple nice tricks, thanks. 👍🏼. I wouldn't put too much force on the corkscrew, it doesn't take much of a bend to make it close improperly. If it bends just a tick towards the handle, when you close the corkscrew the tip will wedge between its plate and the outer handle, causing separation if you don't notice it happening for a bit. Ask me how I know. 😉 Edit: I'm not pissing on your video, I like the hacks. 👍🏼
The brilliance of that cork screw is so understated, i hated the Philips head screw driver replacement, with those idiots who " say i don't drink that much wine ".....bloody fools.
Victorinox changed the screwdriver with the corkscrew of my knife because I didn't like that the corkscrew is a bit larger than the screwdriver when I whittle. Now I can whittle longer without the disadvantages of the pressure of the fingers when I use the small blade.
This is not a drywall anchor, it's a concrete anchor ⌀6mm, and the wooden plank is 2 cm x 4 cm. Notice that at the beginning of the video we see staples with 10 mm crown length on this plank.
For the three delicate tasks of removing the staples, undoing knots, and being a compass it works just fine. But maybe finding out how to put a sturdier drill bit, or screw on it will be better for the rest?
All were fantastic EXCEPT drilling into the tree. Trees don’t heal - that can introduce disease and kill the tree. They wall off injured areas but it’s no guarantee and super stressful for the tree to do so. It’s best to be very sparing with any sort of surgical interactions with our trees. I say this with kindness and love - Please consider this - We are their stewards they are not our servants. ❤
The SAK- type cork remover is the best kind. It is technically a 'worm', a spiral coiled wire, as opposed to a proper, solid screw. The solid screw is much more prone to pull out, especially from a fragile cork. The worm displaces much less cork material and is much less likely to fail.
I think in a survival situation, the use of your knife is more important than making a hanger on a tree trunk. And the rope trick only works with thin ropes and cords, anything thick and the corkscrew will just rip into the fibres.
I remember in the 90s you would come across a neat Swiss Army trick once in a blue moon. It was like a sanctimonious meeting with a wise Guru when that happened.
My brand new Swiss Champ came with a faulty pliers. When you squeeze them, they do not unsqueeze you have to use your thumb to lift the top lever back up. Brand new, never used on anything. These are show tools, not for usage.
I wouldn't call these secret functions. I doubt there were guys sitting in the Swiss Army Knife research labs saying things like "I know what else we could use the corkscrew for, but don't tell anyone, it's a secret." How about you just call it what it is. An idea on how to use the corkscrew for something else.
Boring a hole into a live tree to hang a napsack is not such a good idea. It could introduce insects and or bacteria ultimately killing the tree. Much better to wrap a piece of paracord with a toggle. Already dead, standing tree....... fine, but please NOT a live one.
Why not thay straight "poker" part? The one with a hole in it - which he has demonstrated you can use to sow with. My soap nozzles are all out of wack, too though. I need to look into this. Hadn't even thought of approaching my car with a Swiss Army knife for anything, lol...
I tried to draw a ring with my Handyman. It doesnt works so good! My vic pen did not want to go inside the corkscrew. Went in about 2 rings, not more. And the the corcscrew move, when I draw.

hahaha me too. these videos are crazy. did people just find these neat hacks or did the knife designer actually really know what they were doing.?

Wait... So in English a compass and a Compass are the same?
Wait... So in English you use the same word for compass and compass? 😁
@@midclockcompass can be used for both but for how we see it in the video most would call that a “protractor”
@@unitedlime6896a protractor is a completely different tool

That's exactly when it does come in handy. As long as you have a map and a compass (and a little basic navigational understanding).

Did it wreck your whole knife? :(
Nobody asking themselfs WHY someone put a plastic anchor for cement in wood.
To make the video showing what you can do with a corkscrew? 😜
To demonstrate the function on an easy to move and film -object?
Yes and why not use blade to remove staple
OK this got me laughing.too true.and I'm in construction
@@geom-dx6jm
the tip of the blade will brake easier than the corkscrew
Remember, the corkscrew is made for corks, and will break with enough strain beyond that.
I abused one and it unscrewed it then it wouldn't close properly
Plus carrying wood/weight beyond a cork top will put a lotta strain on the SAK joint with the screw (especially when it pulls in the wrong way).
They now sell an eyeglass screwdriver that can fit into the corkscrew, giving you an extra tool without wasting space. My Compact came with one.
Yeah! Mine too!

The other day I removed a little neodymium magnet from the inside of a magnetic bit driver…
