With the plausible relationship between asian and native american I wonder if there would be some type of relationship between the battle pipe(war bong) and the peace pipe which sometimes had the tomahawk blade under the pipe bowl used before or during times of war
Has Brian never seen Game of Thrones? Eyes be getting turned into strawberry jam.....
The Tenacious D reference was totally unexpected and made me laugh so hard thanks guys. 👊
Headbag only becomes number one once a head is inside it.
Brian Brushwood: Cool rope stuff no dishonor.
Jason Murphy: S H I B A R I
Maybe he just likes bondage? Seems pretty fun
@@kirkendauhl6990 True point XD
@@kirkendauhl6990 Sounds more fun honestly
He knew that pronunciation
@@kirkendauhl6990 wut
Warbong is now going to be the name of a Stoner Metal band.
I'll play bass
I got guitar covered
I call drums
Or bass if John doesn’t show up

The famed thief Goemon, who was basically Japan's Robin Hood, was shown to use such a pipe in the many iterations he's shown in, like the Kabuki play or in many of the canvas paintings of him. Even the Mystical Ninja video game series shows Goemon with a battle pipe.
He even has a giant mecha that has a battle pipe.
I love the Mystical Ninja games man. I wish they made more :(
He has a battle pipe in Persona as well. It's cool as frig.
Do they make reproductions of these pipes?
They sound pretty cool.
I have learned some hojojutsu at my dojo and much of what we've learned you guys got here! Knots weren't used to preserve honour, and the higher ranked you were warranted a more intricate pattern to be tied up with. The idea is that the rope would tighten as you fought against it, like a finger trap. Sometimes the rope was poisoned so chewing on it to escape would make you sick. The rope could also be anchored to your neck (for example) so you would strangle yourself of you tried to get out; or around one's "gentleman area" so if you stood up to run away well... From what I understand the modern bondage "shibari" practice is mostly how the art has stayed alive until today. I could be wrong but I've heard the police in Japan don't all use modern handcuffs due to still using rope??
MR: "something something samurai"
Me: "I'll take your entire stock"
I think it's supposed to be "history of Wonderboy and young nasty man". If it's what I think it is, it's a Tenacious D song.
I love how they just randomly start singing wonderboy
Is that a reference to cyberpunk
Tenacious D
Goemon's weapon in Mystical Ninja makes SO much more sense now...
HEY IM subbed to you
And in Persona
I made a pipe out of a shotgun barrel as a kid, it was my anti-peace pipe. Guess I'm a samurai 🤷♂️
"crushed glass in a blowpipe"
Good to see the samurai finally admitted the superiority of ninja weapons
ninja were samurai and vice-versa, the whole yagyu clan were ninja
Imagine fuckin up and inhaling glass
The gang's all here to witness greatness
I'm only here for bdsm

Battle pipes would use typical stick fighting techniques specifically single stick. The stick could be well a stick a walking stick a cane etc or a battle pipe. If you look at allot of Japanese weapons they often had double purposes. So making a smoking pipe longer and out of metal or with metal fittings would be expected.
I mean yes. But their impression, although funny, is probably more or less accurate. If you had something like that on your person you were sending a message to any passing samurai: you’d better follow your honor code in my presence. Legally, they were allowed to do pretty much anything. Officially, they were supposed to act with honor. Of course, when has that ever actually worked? Never. Unless of course someone with a weapon is watching you.
@@sophiejones7727 So the official code was basically "don't harass commoners (honor system)"?
Yeah, for a stick about that length, I believe they call the single stick fighting Arnis. Eskrima and Kali would be two sticks, but they're all Filipino martial arts. Japanese have the Bo staff, but that's like a walking stick that's upwards of five feet long.
war bong is now my new favorite combination of words
Last time I was this early prison wine was fermenting in a bucket
Last time I was this early this meme wasn't old and annoying
The Magic rope thing is kind of true. Samurai were very good with knots and as such they had a efficient way of bundling rope. This pattern is used widely used today with climbers.
I have officially renamed my bong in honor of this video seeing as I've fallen on top of it and it bounced off the concrete under me and it survived without a scratch. War Bong shall serve this modern rogue honorably good Sirs, honorably indeed.
The only thing this video taught me is that I need to get myself a war-bong.
Opening with a Tenacious D reference is how you earn my like.
and finally one recipe for "eye-crushers" or metsubishi: poke holes in an egg, blow out the yummy goodness, crush up glass, funnel finely crushed glass into the egg, smash/throw it into opponents face.
This is basically just a cascarone, fun part is to make it a holiday tradition so you can stock up on hidden weapons ;)
And of course, it didn't have to necessarily be glass either. If they wanted to be nice, they could use flour or sand. If they wanted to be really _not_ nice, they'd use quicklime.
@@yetanother9127 😳 dang....

Hello Brian and Jason, I hope your Christmas was great and that the New Year treats you well
How 'bout the power to kill a yak from 200 yards away...
with mind bullets! That's telekinesis, Kyle
At one of my local pot shops, someone came in with a knife to rob the place, and the owner walked out of the back with a 3 foot glass bong, high as hell, and just knocked the guy out with one well placed baseball bat battle bong swing.
I guess you guys have never heard of Riot extinguishers. You just fill a fire extinguisher with powdered chili.
Shut up and take my money.
This is so weird. I've been replaying Mystical Ninja starring Goemon on the N64 for the first time since I was a kid, and I've always wondered why Goemon uses a pipe as a weapon. I always just figured if was meant to be zany. Then this video comes out, and I finally have my answer. I kept hoping you guys might mention that game.
I sang the Wonderboy intro with them and I now feel our souls are bonded forever.
The production quality of this show just cobtinues to amaze me
I love these guys 😁❤️
"What is shibari?" 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
BEST THING EVER SAID ON YOUR CHANNEL!
Robot man: "THE MODERN ROGUE LEARNS SHIBARI." That one's probably for the onlyfans.
Do another EDC video please. An EDC is everything for a rogue, throughout all of history.
Saw the thumbnail and went “Hey that’s a Hojo tie for making sure they don’t run off” the tie is designed so that it chokes the person if they drop their hands or try to pull away
Masochists be like: jokes on you, I’m into that shit
5:16~ Enemy heads, especially those of feudal lords, were considered the spoils of war, so they were not decapitating noble samurai for the metal feeling; they were claiming their prizes.
Dude that intro reference tho, y e s
The crush glass thing sounds like a thing I do when I play a rouge in DnD
I typically play as a *_rogue_* but man would it suck to play as rouge, getting smeared on some ugly chick's mug every day just sounds horrible.
@@BillyBoze I wrote this not wearing glasses fml lol
Woot! New video!
Furry detected mark for destruction
First shibari, now guns. There truly is no end to the things that Brian doesn't know about!
damn these videos are great
For me?! You really shouldnt have!! It's my birthday, what a wonderful present!!
5:40 there's also a sack with an iris blade combination from Mongolia, where they would throw it allegedly ( due to tests of recent it doesn't seem actually practical) over someone's head pull the string, closing the blades and ripping off the head while on horseback. Which is not exactly practical but it apearantly existed as a novel concept.
The flying guillotine?
A severed head bag looks like a pretty good shopping utility to keep people out or your way...... [Off to order paracord and look up net making]
Hr said war bongs lolol. The halls of bonghala await you Brian and Jason lolol
Glad one of them mentioned Shibari...
Oh man, I hope Jason got his Christmas head bag
Hey, make a video about sharpening knives with whetstones and stroping.
After watching them try with the axe I don’t trust them to 1 not hurt themselves 2 do it properly
Maybe if they collaborated with someone who knows what they’re doing
i was NOT prepared for a tenacious D reference
Please make a video on shibari! That would be just epic! :-)
HEY BRIAN
Nice cut g
War pipe/ battle bong meaks 'bringing the smoke' even better
YES WONDER BOY thats one of my favourite D songs
A Tenacious D reference! Epic
The Samurai were head hunters they would ransom the heads back to the opposing clan depending on the public status of the decapitated individual.
This may be the first time that I’ve know an obscure song reference from Brian!
You guys need to learn to use more weapons I love those vids! This would be a good excuse to say you should try out kendo lol personally I'd like to see modern arnis/escrima
Even though I don't get half the jokes cuz I'm about 9+ years to Young I always enjoy seeing jason and Brian giggle like 10 year old boys makes me less scared of growing up
The rope techniques are technically called Hojojutsu. Brian was right, the general idea is that you dishonor your prisoner if he is bound in public. If constables are arresting you, but you are not convicted, they don't want to shame you by binding you publicly, since you may be innocent.
Now that Jason has said it, there needs to be a video on Shibari. Preferably fully clothed.
That Tenacious D joke was fucking top notch.
When I heard battle pipes all I could think about was hunting horn lmao
Ah, if that intro bit was meant to be from Tenacious Ds Wonderboy, that song doesn't even reference samurai.
Not even surprised that Jason knows about Shibari
I never knew I wanted a war bong until now 🤣
You should make a follow about bondage. Thats really an art.
Check out a website called “The Duchy” he does shibari/Kinbaku designs everything is clean (no nudity) and his tutorials are easy to follow
War Bongs and Battle Pipes... yup, those are going to be added to my d&d games...
Exotic weapons or improvised?
@@Reddotzebra likely exotic (3.5) or martial (5e) weapons, possibly counting as monk weapons, additionally definitely going to make some magic variants. Also heavily considering a Hookah Hammer (meteor hammer/censer but... hooka) and a Fan Of Cigs (the multiple cigarette/cigar/cigarello holding things, but like a bladed fan...)
Am I the only one that got a mint mobile ad before the vid started and didn't expect the vid to be sponsored by them
The battle pipe reminded me of that scene in Kung Fu Hustle where the Triad boss was smoking his opium pipe when his servant made a mistake and he proceed to clonk him on the head.
I've seen what Happosai can do with a normal pipe so a battle pipe must be even more effective.
Samurai, the original men of culture!
I just realized... Modern Rogue (and modernrogue.com) is the "modern-day" Anarchist's Cookbook!
Ah, my childhood.
You were sponsored by the man Ryan Reynolds himself!
obviously the best weapon in a samurais arsenal is unagi, the warriors state of mind
unagi means fresh water eel lol
Unagi literally just means "Eel".
Not fresh water, not saltwater, just Eel.
Truly a master of metaphor, "a warriors star of mind is eel". Ponder it well and learn.
dorks, but we love you
Also. Hearing war bong I just think of the movie Grandma’s Boy and that line “you never throw a bong kid”.
Didn't expect Tenacious D in the intro
Battle Pipe = Dexterity
War Bong = Strength
Brian has had 4 different looks all year. Now rocking a pony tail 😂
5:16 I'm surprised that NOBODY has mentioned Geralt of Rivia.
kiseru pipes are so cool
We all know the deadliest weapon is a booger flicked from your finger
Especially in 2020
You would think that hank, bu.. POCKET SAND! SHA SHAW!
@@numerum_bestia Nah, pocket sand is intended to be a nonlethal but disabling attack. Once you've been hit your most likely blinded for a minute or two but no harm outside of that.
We got Samuri, Wonderboy, Shibari, War Bongs and Cowboys all in the same video. Nothing in this world makes sense anymore. Think my top is the Battle Pipes
I seen what you did "head" down to the merch store
this man owns brian club iykyk
About that misleading ad: yeah, plan starts at $15/month, for 3 months, after that it's $25.
By the way CEZARY is pronounced closer to tse -zar(like the russian emperor)-rih(like in river).
A nickname for CEZARY is CZAREK which sounds kinda like char(as in charizard)- reck
Ok whenever I hear war bong, instead of the sword like they mentioned, I just thought it would be just a Grenade.
“Eye crushers” Jason smiles
maybe the head bag if it did the cutting and the bagging then it goes to the top
I'm upset we couldn't see the eye crusher up close.
Haha, yes, don't forget the guns!
Battle Bowl!
Sabo be laying the pipe no lie
4:52
Morel Mackernasey from Hunter X Hunter lol.. First thing that came to mind haha
As soon as I buy ghost of Tsushima all samurai stuff gets on my UA-cam recommended feed
Mitsubishi's are also known to be hard on the eyes 😋
My finger just went straight for the like button when he sang Wonderboy
Nunchaku myth, they were never used for threshing wheat, or rice. Nunchaku are an Okinawan weapon developed to be easily concealed from imperial police. The word is a combination of two Okinawan words, nun- meaning two, and chaku- a unit of measurement.
"War Bongs" sounds like it could have been the alternate take to "War Pigs"
Born to grill!
Well now I'm wondering if Jason got his headbag lol
Warbong for the win :D
Crushed glass makes it sound really bad but if you say sand still unpleasant but who hasn’t had sand in there eyes
Me hears about battle pipes.
ME: why did I not see this in peaky blinders
I myself am training for making kiseru fighting pipes
