  • A long trek up Glaramara via Thorneythwaite-fell from Seatoller on an extremely humid day with numerous RAF fly-pasts, thunderstorms were forecast for the area so wanted to get up and down as quickly as possible.....''the best laid plans of mice and men'' come to mind. Hope you stick with it, its a long one............thanks for watching.

I saw those jets when I did Glaramara but could nit get them on camera. Didn't look as steep as Hind Gill but still a canny pull up and good call on turning back with the clag dropping. Surprised to see the jets back with all the low clouds and I bet you got a right bollocking of Wendy when you did get back to her lol. Some of those paths up there were so confusing so I bet you were both pleased to be back down again but poor Wendy falling in Combe Gill. I have had enough of wading through ferns this year, especially shorts and too many rich people buying up land and blocking off pubic footpaths, cheers Alan

Thanks Alan.....yes there were a few ''choice' words exchanged on my return ha ha......the jets were a bit of a lucky bonus, usually my camera is in the bag when they arrive so just lucky. The Gill was quite dry but she still managed to get her boot covered in mud and water. Yes was glad to get down into Borrowdale, quite a tough walk that mate.......ATB.......Stu/Wendy....👍👍

That looked hard work on such a humid day Stu. I think you made the right call with the clag closing in on the summit and the threat of rain, not to mention Wendy wondering where the hell you were!😉Again, stunning views all round and your own private air show courtesy of the RAF! Lol!👍👍

Thanks Anthony........It was one of the most energy-sapping walks I have ever done Anthony(not counting a 2 day wildcamp with a 18kg rucksack 7 yrs ago).....and the 1st ever lake-district hike that I did not actually reach the true-summit when planned........yeah I have left Wendy on a couple of occasions below a summit but where she was would have been a waterfall if those thunderstorms had actually materialised lol.....so had to go back. Once again I must thank you for being my most consistent subscriber. Much appreciated .......Stu/Wendy...👍👍

Yeah, getting so close and not actually going on the summit was very disappointing Phil, but no point getting another 3 0r 400ft up to see nothing at all would have been even more disappointing for me, im still regretting not carrying on, but it is what it is. I enjoyed being alone up there, didnt see another person all day. The forecast scared everyone else off ha ha........I had my keela jacket so wanted it to rain so I could test it out lol...cheeers mate.......Stu/Wendy....👍👍
