  • Hi everyone and welcome to Sassenach Quilts at The Cloth House
Today we are going to show you how I cut up men’s shirts so that I can then use the fabric to make quilts on my @HandiQuilter MoxieXL. I "show and tell" the method I use to cut up a shirt and present a tutorial so you can watch me and learn how to do this to shirts from charity shops and thrift stores.
We love #sustainablequilting here at The Cloth House and for this tutorial we used a beautiful teal and white ditzy print 100% cotton men's shirt. I will show you how to deconstruct the awkward shapes, what to expect, hidden treasure troves of “surprise” fabric.
I talk about why The Cloth House has moved to #sustainablequilting and do a cost comparison with fabric bought in a shop to that from a shirt. I introduce the idea of changing the way you look at quilt patterns so that they will work with cloth from shirts.
Join us as we have fun cutting up a shirt !!!!
