So glad Camper is okay, nothing scarier than when our fur babies need medical care. Never heard of foxtails getting in the noses of dogs, so thank you for sharing and bringing awareness.
There are tons of foxtails where I live and something you have to be careful with as they can accidently inhale it as they are sniffing around
Thanks for letting us cheat by reading the comments to see what happened. Now I can watch with less anxiety. Thanks 👍🏽
The so called 'danger' of Foxtail grass for dogs is way overrated🙄 Dogs are fine running or even rolling around in it without a problem and will cause zero harm. A hooked burr inside Camper's nostril would have eventually been blown out through sneezing, although the vet extracting it with tweezers obviously relieved the discomfort a bit quicker.
My dog died from a foxtail in her nostril
@@exploringnext1111 That's life. 🙄🤣🐕
Glad you took Camper to the vet and he was treated in early stages!! Don't wait if you have pet concerns, folks! 🐕
That's the thing... we know our pets. I know immediately if something is going on.
I love that last shot of camper in the front seat, just laying his head down, in his home, with his pack, just so relaxed and recovering in peace. LOVE THAT! Glad he's OK.
Yes, it appears that his mom rigged up a type of extension of his front seat for a &more comfortable ride ❤️ The things we do for our dogs. I miss my dogs so much. After seeing my neighbors’ 2 normally friendly dogs keep a creepy, middle-aged man at a distance, I really feel that I should seriously consider investing in a guard dog for safety then, we can grow old together 👵🏻 lol, I’m in my 60’s now and completely intimidated about leaving my current abode because of creeps! In the meantime, I need to seriously prep myself with mace & a taser again! 😟
I literally cried seeing Camper come out from the vet! So relieved he is ok ❤
I’m glad Camper is ok. Foxtails are the worst. They also like to burrow on their paws. Make sure to always check Camper’s paws after being outside. My dog Shelby got one and my poor little thing needed to get on antibiotics since it left her an injury on her paw.
yes these things can even enter blood vessels in the paws and go further up, this is extremely dangerous and needs a fast surgery. And they can also enter the ears and create harm there, not to forget. Really horrible enemies for dogs.
They burrow anywhere they make contact. They are all over NV as well. My Chow got one in the side of her cheek as a puppy. Found it before it burrowed into her jawbone. Nasty horrible things. Always check your dog over
Thank you! Goodness, THEY ARE TERRIFYING! Yes, I check every day now, so scary how threatening they are! Glad Shelby was ok!
@@NikkiDelventhal ...please
@@NikkiDelventhal they also get into ears.
Sweet Camper, glad he is okay! That watering hole looked amazing! Enjoy your break and have fun.
I’m so happy to hear Camper is okay! He’s such a sweet dog! 🐾❤
Thank you for the PSA on foxtails! I've been taking training and boarding dogs for years and had never heard of that being an issue. So glad Camper Puppy Pie is ok❤
About 2 months ago we had to take our pup to the emergency vet. It was the worst feeling, watching her vom blood and then leaving her overnight. Sending virtual hugs if you need them. Being a dog parent is a whole nother level of stress but the love they provide us is soooo worth it ❤❤❤
Poor little Camper! So glad you caught it. Those fox tails are no joke. And unfortunately, they’re all over the California coast this summer. Safe travels! 💜
What a nice water area!
Never heard of that - foxtails! Ugh... So glad that you realized that Camper's continuous sneezing might be a problem, and you checked it out. Sometimes ignorance is NOT bliss; you averted a major problem and got it in time, due to your caring and vigilance - a Wonderful Dog Mom, Nikki ❤ ❤ - 👸
Boa noite
Boa noite
Yes, foxtails are BAD! My poor dog got one in his ear and it was sad the infection and pain he experienced!
Bom dia
Hi Nikki. OMG. Good to see Camper is ok!!!!!!!!!!! I can't imagine what was going through your head. Super smart to take him to the vet!!!!! It certainly proves what a caring person you are!!!!!!!!!! I had no idea they could be that serious. I have a neighbor with foxtail right beside their sidewalk where people walk their dogs. I promise I will go cut it and dispose of it tomorrow. KEN
Wow! Thank you for the heads up about the Foxtail! Been around it forever and never knew the danger it is for the furbabies! Camper is such a good boy, Glad he is OK!
I'm so glad Camper is ok, and the relief on your face just shows how much you love him.
Poor little guy. You are truly a great dog-mom. Love your adventures with the great Camper.
NOT YOUR FAULT, it happens and a lot of people don't ever realize. Poor buds glad hes ok!!
Yep, When I lived in California... 30 years ago... had yellow lab... Looked like Camper but bigger... he snorted a Foxtail... while on a creek that looked just like the one you were on... a big one right up his nose... and as soon as I saw poor Camper sneezing like that, I instantly said... Foxtail. The Vet pulled it out under antistatic cuz it was way in there. They used forceps and pulled a four inch long foxtail out... no worries after that. Happy to see he's OK.
It’s the absolute worst when your dog isn’t feeling well! Great that Campers problems weren’t worse 👍🏻
SO Glad you got that foxtail in time and sweet boy is fine. I live in California and we're surrounded by foxtails in the summer, so my dogs get foxtails from time to time. It's important to keep an eye on their fur, ears, between their toes, genitals, everywhere, because those awful things can burrow in anywhere, especially hidden spots like between the toes, and cause awful problems. Big Hugs to you both.
Yep. And the biggest issue is that they have a barb like surface, so they only go IN. Used to have problems with some long haired dogs getting them lodged in the roof of their mouths trying to bite them out of their fur. When they get in the animal's nose, they can work their way up into the sinuses. If lucky, you can catch it while still in the nasal cavity and pull it out without anesthesia.
Great video. Glad everything turned out ok. It's really crazy how fast everything went from "Living the dream!" to "OMG! WTF!" Just another example of not taking anything for granted, cherishing the good times, and grabbing happiness wherever you can, whenever you can, while you can. Life is too precious, too short, and too unpredictable to wait for happiness. We got to be happy, right here, right now.
Long ago (1964), when we lived in La Mesa, our neighbor, who had two dachshunds, had one of the dogs get into some foxtails. We left that area before I learned the ultimate outcome of that situation. Obviously, foxtails are still around. Not to mention poison oak, which we were cautioned about. Compliments to the vet.
I actually cried when you said he was fine. Funny how you get attached to animals when watching all these videos. I’m so happy you both are well. ❤❤❤❤
Aww, poor Camper. Foxtails are no joke. I'm glad you knew to take him the the vet ASAP. He's lucky to have you. Take care, safe travels!
They way Camper sneezed that was the first thing I thought of. Our min Dachs got one stuck in her eye under that second eyelid.
These foxtails can also get into your dogs ear too! If they constantly shake their heads, get it check out by a Vet.
We were getting near the end of the video and Camper was the only one who seemed to be having problems, so I was like, "OH NO! CAMPER is the one who has to go to ER!" I'm so glad he's okay and I had no idea about foxtail! Thank you SO MUCH for this video, Nikki! Give Camper a big kiss from me and Sage!
oh camper i wish you nothing but health and happiness! you have an awesome dogg mom! much love to you nikki for being great! have a great weekend to you both!
Thank you! Right back at you. 🫶🏼 Big hugs!
I'm so glad Camper is ok. I had to take my dog to VCA here in Murrieta this week. We had to make the decision to end her pain. She almost lived for 12 years and she was my baby girl. I hope for many many healthy years for Camper.
So sorry for your loss.. :( sending healing your way ❤
Hi Nikki! Delighted that you are visiting us here in Southern CA. Let me know if you'd like to meet up!
So happy to know Camper is ok, big hugs mamma, I could tell how worried you were, hurts our hearts when our fur babies hurt. ❤
Oh… hugs and kisses to Camper for a speedy rebound! Such a good boy! It is so scary when our fur babies are in trouble like that! Hugs to you too Nikki! So glad you caught that as soon as you did!
That was the same VCA specialty group in San Diego that my pup was going to for chemotherapy before she passed away on 6.17. They're amazing but my girl had so many things going on like cancer, tumor on her liver and one on her spleen, pancreatitis at the end that we couldn't save her :( I miss her a lot and it's a joy watching you and Camper every week
So happy to hear Camper is feeling better! Love the journey! Thanks for always bringing us along. ❤️
Cheers to you and Camper. What a great relief when you get to pick your dog up from the vet and all is well!
much love to you, Camper. So glad your Mom takes such great care of you.
I am so glad Camper is ok, It was so exciting to see the look on your face and see how happy he was to see you when you got him from the vet.
I’m glad Camper is ok. Foxtails are nasty little things, check his paws often because they can enter his body there too. My little Jellyroll has a couple of surgeries at different times to remove them.
Thank you Nikki for alerting me about Foxtails. I had never heard of this. My dog & I have hiked all over VA, and some in North Carolina & South Carolina...but I just read, they are not located here. I am so happy to be warned about this should we travel elsewhere in the Country. This is pretty bazaar how it will travel thru the dogs body. So happy that Camper is going to be okay. 😍
I sure am glad Camper is going to be OK. I didn't know about foxtail. I've seen them around but never give it any thought. Thank you Nikki for sharing that information 😊. You could tell he was still pretty much out of it on your way to the van. It's a great day when you find out your best buddy is going to be fine. Happy travels to you and Camper. Until next time 🍻. Peace 🙏
I'm glad that Camper is going to be fine. It's definitely one of those live and learn experiences. You're a great and loving PAW-parent.
Foxtails can be found throughout California, including where I'm at in LA/Orange Counties. I used to actively try and keep my Aussie Shepherd from shrub areas (with her being born deaf/blind, I was her eyes and ears for 14 years until her passing last month after just turning 16). Even then, I still had to carefully inspect her coat and skin to make sure she was all clear of those pernicious things.
Awe Camper, I'm so glad he's okay!! I love your videos with Camper. You're such a good dog momma.
So glad Camper is OK 🥰 So scary for you guys…I made a big note on my dry erase board, on my fridge, in our RV, fox tails are dangerous for dogs!!!
Oh poor Camper.
The same thing happened to my dog when she was a puppy. The problem was that she was a small breed and was very close to the ground. Every time she sneezed, she would violently hit her head on the ground. She too ended up being fine. It’s good that you put the post and a warning/awareness to others ❤
SO glad Camper's ok. Thank you for educating us about foxtails! Also, thanks for reminding us that van life isn't 100% beautiful sunsets. It's nice to see what a normal day is for you, positive and negative.
In all my decades of having canine companions I had never heard of this. Glad pooch is okay.
Thanks for sharing Nikki, so glad to see that Camper was OK in the end! Safe travels you two! 🐕🚶♀🚐🗺
Oh Nikki! Foxtail is so horrible!!
Please check between Camper’s toes after a hike. One got between my dog’s toes and worked up to the top of his foot and made an abscess! $200 vet bill. I didn’t know about them until that point either! I pulled out every blade of grass of it in my yard and avoid walking paths & sidewalks that are lined with dried out foxtail grass!! 😱 check thru Camper’s fur each evening too!
Shelbo and I are so happy that Camper came out OK. Safe travels ND.
I'm so happy that Camper's okay and that he's gonna feel so much better soon 💜💜
I’m so glad my nephew is back to feeling ok! What’s it like to share a dog with all of your viewers? Hope the week is SO much better than the last! -Auntie Erin
Cringe.
@@fh1980ram😭😭😭💀
So glad Camper is okay ❤ he’s such a lovely boy.
The new van is awesome!!
I'm so glad Camper is OK! How scary 😱. Something to pick up the next shopping run is a bottle of Tecnu. It's a soap that you can use on your skin, on Camper and on any contaminated laundry. It binds to the poison ivy / oak or sumac oils and removes them with cold water. You can also apply it beforehand as a preventative, and even after exposure without water if you can't shower off right away. Hubby does landscaping and it's saved us many times!
I've had several foxtails removed from my cats eyes over the years and you're right they're no joke.. I hope Camper feels better soon
I'm so happy Camper is doing well. Don't feel bad. You're not expected to know everything. It was caught in time and he is doing good. Enjoy your journey. ❤❤❤
Am Happy Camper is doing great Nikki. Camper is such an adorable obedient wonderful dog
My heart dropped when you said camper had an issue!!! The…. Moment…. You said the world was lifted off your shoulders, it was for me as well. I couldn’t imagine my little Scooter (golden) and Dash (mini Aussie) with a foxtail incident😢😢😢
You are a beautiful person for living and learning. Thank you so much for sharing this rock with us, I'm so glad you're here Nikki! Keep living! The more you learn the more you grow, the more you grow, the more you can help others. I just looked this up today and you might have saved MY pup with this information. THANK YOU. Live long.
Something got in my eyes when you picked Camper up from the animal hospital. Probably just some dust. 😊 So happy that they got him all fixed up. ❤ Safe travels to you both.
Oh wow Im so pleased Camper is okay, I never knew that about 'Foxtails' I didnt even know that name. How scary, poor little boy and he is such an expert climbing those rocks. He loves his hikes, no wonder you found each other as he is definitely the dog you were meant to have. Take care and have a great week x
Glad you got Camper taken care of. Safe journey. 🐾🙏🏻✌🏻
Nikki and Camper y'all rock! So glad Camper is ok and you actually knew something was wrong. Peace
Foxtail is found in every state, bar seven. If you own a dog and spend time outside (which you should, given you own a dog) please look up this plant and which species grows in your state. They can be found in fields, areas of water etc. and tend to grow year round in the west. They can be deadly to dogs if not treated. Incessant sneezing is the most common sign. So glad Camper was treated quickly. You are such a good mom.
I teared up when I saw Camper come out of the vet. So happy he's okay and back with you. Blessings to you both!
Oh Nikki. We love Camper so much. We are glad he is ok. We have a dog that has ibd and colitis so we know it is tough when they are not feeling well. You have such wonderful videos. We look forward to a new one every Friday. Thanks! ♥
I'm sorry Camp had to go through this, and I'm so happy he's cool. Cheers you two.
You are such a loving mother, once I was doing some work on my garage as a teen ager and a wood
header fell and the a nail on the end of it cut deep into my arm, I was in pain and bleeding like a faucet,
my mother looked at it, grabbed a towel and said, " You will live, get back to work."
We have those "foxtails"plants in France, and nobody ever told me some species were so dangerous for dogs (and cats and other domestic animals, according to an Internet page I've just read now) !
Thanks to Camper (I'm glad he's okay), maybe several dogs of the viewers of this video will be saved from trouble by their owners, now that they know 🙂
Thank you Camper !
How scary for you and Camper! I know how much he means to you, and as a dog lover myself, I'm so happy he's OK and that you have some relief from that as well. Don't beat yourself up about not knowing - be proud of the fact that you used your platform to inform the rest of us. That's what's important. That stuff is everywhere - even here in the midwest, so it's nice to know about the dangers of it to doggos. Safe travels, Nikki!
You are such a good momma! I am so thankful Camper is okay❤️ Thank you for the information on foxtail. I had no idea it could cause such a problem.
Poor guy, had quite a rough day. I'm glad they were able to treat him quickly. Also, thank you for the tip to keep a lookout for plants like that.
Hi Nikki, I'm glad you caught the foxtail in time and Camper is going to be fine. I too live in an area with foxtails, fortunately my GSD hasn't inhaled one yet, but now that I see the symptoms I will be watching for that. thank you so much for the tips to keep my dog safe. I love following you and being taken along on your adventures. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for being such a good pet parent that you were observant enough and concerned enough to get Camper checked out, and caring enough to get it fixed. Emergency visits aren't cheap.
THANK YOU!🫶🏼
18:23 Wow! I had never heard of foxtails before!
