Special thanks to Lessmod for narrating this tutorial and editing speech for it. Also big thanks to UnderMineBlox for making 3d background used in this tutorial and also for general help in process of making it. I wanted to release this camera on 31st of December as happy new year gift to all animators, but was stuck with tons of issues. Camera may contain problems. One of them is parallax working incorrect with ratios different from 16:9. I was trying to fix this issue for a week and got way too exhausted and brainded during the process. Probably, i will try to fix it later. I don't want to release this camera at this state, but tons of people are eager to use it already and i am too mentally exhausted to keep working on it. Hopefully, you will find this camera useful. Now i want to return to developing Zozo game that was on hold for half of year. This game is my number one priority.

If anyone is confused as to how to actually make these features work in your animation, don't worry. All you need is to have the control panel in your animation, and it will work if you play your animation with Ctrl+Enter.

Great work this is really a god level work, but I wanted to ask if it's possible to add a feature to use frame effects like blending filters for as3 camera? When adding those the camera stops working

I want to tell you that the camera Shake you have made works fine with ActionScript 2.0, but not the new 3.0 ActionScript. I use Adobe Animate CC so this V-cam Shake will not work. Can you please fix it!
Ok, i checked the file and fixed the shake. Actually, i fixed a lot of stuff in it. Camera is re-uploaded and ready to use. Thank you for the bug report!

I don't really know what does "swf panel" mean. I think keeping it just in the main timeline is good enough to change it's settings during the animation.

Thanks for the tutorial, this thing helps me a lot at animating, but i have a one tiny problem. Every time i turn on the filter effect it seems the camera stop working, anyways to fix it?
Are you trying to use Advanced Layers? The scripts work weird with advanced layers, unfortunately.

I'm having a problem here, when i activate the Advanced Layers, it doesn't work, and when i open it, it says that that AS2 doesn't work anymore (I downloaded the AS3 ver.) do i need to install the plugins and everything else?

Really cool! Like the idea of adding blender backgrounds as well. However, is there any way to add a blender background infront the fla animation as well? E.c.; 2 characters are fighting at the sidewalk with the blender background insert behind. In some moments during the fight, cars would pass by in front of them. How do you make something like that? Either way, amazing v-cam! Will be putting to use when I can.
Also thanks for fixing the error code #1009. It was getting a bit on my hands too much.
You can change background holder's symbol name, use "Place Background" again so it creates and places the new one and move it on top of stick figure layers. Now you render png sequence instead of FLV file ONLY with stuff you want to be on top of stick figure (that means disabling objects that are behind of them for render). Then you just import png sequence into this new background holder. Are you the one who said camera was breaking and spamming into console when swf was changing scenes? If yes - this issue is supposed to be fixed now.

Oh, and hey! I have been using this vcam for a bit, and so far it’s really good! I think it’s useful in many ways. However, there is one feature I may ask about. Adding a mp4 of a 3d bg is really useful when rendering 3d in flash, but I find it a bit weird that you can only make one symbol of it, and not mutiple symbols of renders of 3d Bgs mp4s. Is there any way you guys can get this to work? Otherwise, this vcam very useful in many ways and I continue to use it when necessary. Thanks in advance.
@@misterj_j If you are talking about having multiple background holders, just rename one you have and then call "Place Background" function again. It will create a new holder for your background. But the thing is: videos are not transparent, so you will need to use png sequence instead of flv file. This thing is quite heavy, so i would split fla file into multiple segments if you have a really long scene.
I use Adobe animate 2023, ANd when i open the "V-Cam AS3.fla file, it donset open it just pulls out a message that says "An error ocurred while openin the file"" How can i fix that?
I uploaded the "VCAM_AS3_for_Animate_2023.fla" file in the folder. Did not know that backwards compatibility with Macromedia Flash 8 stopped since Adobe Animate 2023.

Hi Shuriken, I’m having one issue with the parallax. Anytime I put the parallax symbol in a movie clip, that movie clip appears way too large and in a completely different spot in the swf. I haven’t even moved the camera yet, it matches the stage, as well as the parallax boarder. Everything is in separate layers, and the movieclips are top left registration. I’m using AS2 v0.1 in Flash 8. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Question, when using this it keeps saying certain elements like camera_shake and camera_shake_power_controller and binding cannot be loaded. It also returns script errors, what do I do to counter this?
Try to add these into your project's library. That should fix the issue.

What do you mean? Which filters? On which symbols?
@@Shuriken255 yeah, the blur and glow filters didn't work when I placed the vcam, also the symbols were movie clips
@@chamomileteatrebleclef I just checked it. Glow and blur filters on symbols show up in both: FLA and SWF files. Maybe Flash automaticly disables filters when camera zooms in due to performance issue. Maybe your resolution is way too big.
@@Shuriken255 weirdly enough, it started showing the filters correctly today. If I encounter this problem again I'll turn down the resolution, thanks for helping anyway!
@@chamomileteatrebleclef No problem. You can always lower the resolution for SWF file and then render full-hd animation in Swivel when the animation is done.

i have adobe 2021. i cant find the folder in my appdata, it only brings up animate cc 2015 which i dont even have anymore. i cant upload the jsfl files on that one cause the program is entirely different. any advice on the matter would be very much appreciated
I did some reaseach about your problem, but i was not able to find anything. It's very weird. Probably Adobe decided to either change location of their program data or the worst case: they removed JSFL support. I don't know, i can only hope for the best. I may also ask animators in Hyun's Dojo about your problem.

yes, if you don't sort the controls by layers, then the scripts won't work
Sorry to answer this late. When you have the entire Control Panel copied in your work right click it and select "Break Apart". That will make every control separate. Now, with the selection tool (V on your keyboard) drag and select all of it. Now, right click all the stuff you have selected and select "Distribute to layers". That will send each separate control into different layers, each with its automatic name. Hope this helps, I know it's late and you have probably figured it out by now, but anyways y hope this can help you.
as3 parallax is a bit weird, when ever i try to set it up, mind you that the MC are on the top left. The camera will show them zoom up to close up.
I don't really get what you mean. I don't think it's a problem that symbol should have registration point on top-left. And parallax symbol is placed in 3d space the way, you will never see it's borders if your camera stays inside red border you set on stage.
@@Shuriken255 i tried the parallax with as2, language and it works fine. As3 is a bit weird, trust me when i say it.

If you meant why i put "Zozo game" on hold for half of year: i thought my family had a really bad financial state (at least they told me so), so i spent most of it on working for Alan Becker. While working on him i figured out a lot of features in my v-cam work wrong, so i decided to spend a week fixing it. The week turned into a month of painful and hard work. I am going to go back to Zozo after i rest.

I got a problem. When I put the PARALLAX image in the background movieclip (the registration point IS in top left corner) and then do all the same + add the border, my background just breaks. What did I do wrong?

@@Shuriken255 pretty much been having the same problems. I'm using adobe animate and did everything including turning advanced layers off and also tried both AS2 and 3, placing the parallax symbol inside the movie clips makes the movie clips disappear. The camera itself works fine but the parallax kind of bugged out.

It tries to adjust the background's bounding box (the one you see when you select all elements inside the symbol that are not in the guided layers), so it would always be visible if the camera is inside the camera bounds specified on the stage. Unfortunately, this version of parallax is quite bad and unfortunately the better way to work with parallax currently belongs to Alan Becker (I was paid hourly to create this camera for him) therefore I can't really freely share this camera with proper parallax. It's a very sticky situation and I feel really bad seeing people still using this camera when I have finally figured out the better workflow for it.
