Wow! this really works. Totally freed up my wrists. You think you know what you are doing then you learn something like this. Absolutely an insane drill. Awesome Thanks Fitzy!!
@@fitzygolfpro Hi Brian. I tried this at the range and it was great thanks. I moved my feet progressively as you did but went back a stage if I started to fade/slice the ball. After a while I managed a nice draw or at least a straight shot most of the time. Thanks again.
40 plus years ago I joined up with single on the course with a beautiful draw. He gave me a similar drill with my practice swing that eventually had me hitting a draw. I like your drill!
I like the simplicity and how it frees my trail arm away from getting stuck at impact. I feel like I’m completing the swing and rotating better. Many thanks 🙏
As usual Brian, another great video on drills to promote an in to out swing path. Although my normal club path is in to out, I have used your recommended drill over the years. I have also used the frisbee toss drill. For those golfers who have had an out to in swing, I highly recommend Brian's suggestive drill! It does work! Well Done Brian! Keep Up the Good Work!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with this community John. You have sure been around the block a few times so we can all learn from your experience. Brian
I recently discovered this drill on another channel and it worked so consistently that I've now taken it to the course for ALL my clubs. I've recorded the best scores of my life. I don't care what it looks like, I love the results so much I'll keep using it. I like your suggestion to gradually trying to move back to a square stance and that's my goal. But for now, I'm playing the best golf of my life. Many thanks.
My teacher taught me this about three months ago. It's bloody fantastic. After half a dozen shots it came good. Now I'm almost square to the ball but this technique is always in the background. It really is good.
I am so pleased it has worked for you. It’s never let me down having used it with thousands of clients over almost 40 years. Thanks for sharing and all the best with your golf. Brian
Terrific drill & it does work. Brian is a great teacher. With his videos he's helped me get my "old" swing back after 2 back surgeries & I'm a 75 yr old woman who had a 2 handicap for a long time. My goal for this 'oldie' is to get to 5 a handicap! I'm confident with his help even tho I live a long way away in Texas. Thanks, Brian.
Thank you sir. I have been using the 7 o clock to 1 o clock. I’ve fought a hook my entire life. It has improved my swing but I still get the odd slice. Today I tried the drill on the range before my round. Wow! I I decided to take it to the course. Yes it looks funny in your set up - chest facing rear - but results weren’t. I only did the turn halfway back. Great draws today. I shot 84 on a difficult golf course - greens undulating and were 12.5 on stimp - club championship this weekend. I just need to work on nuances for set up. But first time I’ve done it so,practicing will help. Thanks again sir - I spent a few dollars on lessons - why didn’t they just give me this.
An over-the-top swing can create 3 different shot shapes, depending on the relationship of the club face to the path: a pull slice if the face is open, a straight pull with a straight face, or a pull hook with a closed face. I tend to swing over the top if I yank the club too quickly to the inside. The club then continues in a loop to the outside to inside swing. A slight pause at the top allows me to start down on the proper, inside path.
Exactly the drill i used years ago to get rid of my slice, played with it since, with a closed stance, only time i don't is when i have to hit a intentional fade, then i stand slightly open
I have rarely seen that. Your hook and pull is probably not caused by an overactive right hand but more likely a very strong grip and/or an open shoulder alignment at address. Brian
I have found an easy solution , if you slice but other mechanics are fine, then move your start ball position. Stand further away from the ball so you line up on the end of club. This promotes an inside out swing path since you have to reach for the ball. If you hook move ball closer to hossel to promote a neutral swing.
Your answer lies in this video when I mention tension in your left wrist through impact. Your club face is remaining open to your path which is why it is ending further right than your start line. I have another video which talks about it. Hit Your Golf Ball Straighter With Just One Thought ua-cam.com/video/G6WGrCDtUyE/v-deo.html I hope it helps. Brian
Tried this at the range with driver Brian as I've always had club path issues and hit the longest high draws I can remember hitting. I wonder what my playing group will say if I set up like that next outing? Lol
Just like Fred. It has never let me down yet. Just keep trying to work your way back to square as I suggested in the video. In the mean time just keep taking your friends money. 😊
I've got the opposite problem. Can i do this drill the other way round to develop a fade? There are a couple of holes on my course where my draw puts me in the trees and/or bunkers.
I wouldn’t recommend the opposite version of this drill but have you looked at your grip? Without seeing you (not ideal) I would suggest you look at your grip. It could be on the strong side. Play around with it on the range and see how it goes.
I think the inside out swing is caused by a faulty conception of the shoulders. When I was doing it I had an image that the club swung vertically backwards and forward. Imagine your body laid horizontally in the air and the swing you would make by turning the shoulders. Trying to make that vertical swing will cause the inside out swing when you take a normal stance.
As soon as you stand square the bodies natural backswing will often start going away from the body creating the out to in. Just move your right foot back a bit from square and you’ll notice the change in natural body turn starting more easily on an in to out swing plane.
I hit a draw with most clubs, but my driver has a two way miss. So i tried this with my driver with immediate success with 86% fairways hit, distance was ok about average, but a much higher flight. If i want to draw with my other clubs i just drop my right foot back, a also get more distance that way
I am sure I am not the only one using this drill. I have been using it for almost 40 years so I am sure others have used it too. It is such a good drill. Brian
