I’m 45 and aiming to retire with $2,000,000 by age 60, but it feels like an uphill battle. I have about $550k saved in my 401(k), but with inflation and market fluctuations, I’m starting to question if it’s even possible.
Agreed, I've always delegated my excesses to an advisor, since suffering major portfolio loss early 2020, amid covid outbreak. I'm now semi-retired and only work 7.5 hours a week, with barely 25% short of my $6.5m retirement goal after subsequent investments to date
@waldenharvey Thanks for sharing your experience! I've been managing my portfolio myself, but it's not working out. can you recommend this expert? I could really use some help

When we retired, over twenty years ago, we took our bikes to Europe every year and toured a different country each time. We also went to Whistler skiing for a few weeks every year. Eventually moved to France, studied French in Paris and now we live in Switzerland, we spend a few weeks skiing every year and otherwise mainly cycling with some hiking. I enjoy cooking mainly from fresh local foods, we buy as much as possible from the local farm shops, and we share a bottle of wine every evening. It is a fantastic retirement.
I have Mark’s sleep schedule. I am now trying to sleep in until 4am, but resetting an internal clock is not easy. I exercise at home, and I am very disciplined at it, but I do miss the community I had when I used to exercise at a smaller gym. The large gym I ended up with, even early in the morning, never had a community so working out at home was an easy choice to make. One thing I am curious about, as a person with very little Florida knowledge, is how do you think about the risk of hurricanes and the issues surrounding flood insurance? Do you think Marco Island your forever home? If I ever move again, I don’t want to move after that.
Admittedly they are in a privileged retirement position from a wealth standpoint but they worked for decades to get there. So now they are sharing how they live their best retirement. They also make videos about mistakes they made in their first year of retirement and unanticipated challenges they’ve encountered in retirement.

You're not alone in feeling that way. Many people underestimate how much they’ll need in retirement or rely too heavily on one type of investment

Prime rib is just about the most nutritious thing you can eat. Ignore your "trainer".
what is the issue with prime rib?
Ugh! The bots in all the YT channel comments advertising financial advisors.
Eating dinner is not a guilty pleasure.
You both are talking in circles, please get to the point.
Their presentation skills are great. Maybe you’re seeking different content than what they have to offer.
