There was a time where people would brag about mass harassing sellers on eBay for charging more than $70 for a Bratz doll(s). I found it very toxic to do that. I had left a little bit after the Bratz First Editions rerelease, and people had made complaints about the rereleases, and the majority of the group basically just called them entitled and childish for voicing their opinions on them. Even though they are the consumer and allowed to complain. Also, I'd be willing to spend up to $150 on a single Bratz doll even though most people will say $70 for a Felicia, even though if they had the chance they would no doubt sell her for $700. And yeah, I agree if people would stop paying the. prices they won't stop complaining about, the prices will go down a substantial amount.

My most expensive doll was my saks show white But I didn’t buy her my partner did for Christmas off eBay about 4 years ago for ($750) she was and will always be my ultimate holy Grail & now I see her on eBay for around (1500- 2500) Its insane. She is a favourite but my most favourite will always be my Anastasia doll I had as a little girl as I took her everywhere with me she is worn but she stays in my room as she is so sentimental to me . I personally would never sell my dolls neither as I buy them for nostalgia and personal contentment 💜 I’ve seen bratz take a huge jump in prices lately too which has put me off as the prices are ridiculous for the most part . Limited Disney dolls have became almost unobtainable my Ariel is now worth over 1000 bought her for 150 at the time I think prices will go back down after covid when people are Not as interested in dolls anymore
I think sentimental value is like really important for any collector. My Monster high dolls are important to me not bc someone else wants them but because they remind of my childhood and my relationship with my parents

My Snow Queen Elsa is my most prized doll, but not for how much she's worth. I got her on eBay (unfortunately wasn't there for her release) for what she would have sold for in Canada. I saw people selling her for $500, but for me it was like "I love her but I can't justify spending $500 on her she's just not worth that." That said now that I have her she's my favorite because I love Elsa and this particular Elsa means a lot to me, not because I could sell her for a lot of money.
I've been asking myself questions about value since I picked up trying to collect Magical Girl (mainly Ojamajo Doremi and Pretty Cure) toys. Doremi in particular, because the toys are older, goes for a lot and I understand the idea of time driving up prices. BUT, I'm also not going to pay $400-$800 for a piece of plastic that probably retailed for like... $25-35 in 2001. I'd probably pay $50, maybe closer to $100 if I really, really want it, but not $200 if it's broken and not $550 even new in box. That's just me. Clearly there is market for them or they wouldn't go for that much, but it doesn't mean I have to pay it. Depending on the series, Pretty Cure can be more reasonable. You often find people selling lots of just random PreCure roleplay toys for good prices (likely parents cleaning out the house, to be fair). But when you have people who KNOW what they have and know that overseas fans have little options, they can get ridiculous. So I just keep looking and looking for deals. (It's why I'm short on Heartcatch merch. I was a broke 17YO when it came out and ten years later, it can be hard to catch up without breaking the bank.) I know that Glam Magic dolls were poorly distributed in the states (I didn't even know they existed until two years after they were released and I was an OG Winx fan), but I've heard that they're super common in Europe. Apparently people find them at flea markets and secondhand shops there all the time. When I was a kid, we only had one Toys R Us in my area and my parents never took me. They didn't like the area it was in and the traffic was a mess. If it wasn't at Walmart or Target, it didn't exist to my parents and I'm kinda sad I missed out. As far as Disney LEs go, the one in particular I know that sells for less than retail is Elena. I bought Elena close to her initial release (because I was naive and didn't realise that no one actually knew the show), but now she goes for around and sometimes less than her initial price. Not only because no one cares about her, but probably because there were 6,000 of them. I think they wanted it to be successful, but it just didn't work out because Disney hates their TVA and likes to dig their own holes and gave up on the merch way too quickly.

I don’t really like how the prices are so high right now but I did splurge a little bit of money for my winter wonderland Dana.. she was my childhood favourite when me and my brother had her. I treasure my dolls with all of my heart! Especially my monster high and Bratz. I try to keep them in good condition but over time playing with them you loose pieces and stuff but that’s what this is about. I care for my dolls they mean a lot to me, they are my inspiration my world, They make me happy just playing with them and all that. I don’t care how much they sell for I wouldn’t buy the dolls for value I’d buy the dolls because I love them. Thanks for reading XD. 🌈
I'm also into collecting old gen ponies and it's such an extreme difference to doll collecting. I feel like pony people raise the prices based on, how many were made, what country they're from, how difficult it was at the time to get the pony, and did anyone buy it when they were being released (this is mostly for g4, since any pony that wasn't the mane 6 are rare now) I look at my pony wish list for all gens and realistically, I could have them all at one point. Maybe only spend $100 max on a few. I look at my doll wish list and cry. I know I'll never be able to get all or any of them. Their prices aren't based on limited quantity releases, or anything. The prices are based on nostalgia and people are so willing to pay for that massive price tag. Hopefully it calms down later down the line.
I'm a reseller on Poshmark not of dolls but of clothes/ and handbags. I totally agree with you about the buyer and seller agreement. Value really is subjective just like beauty is. You made really great points!!

I've been wanting a Movie Star Sasha dolls for a long time now but every she sells for $50+ becasue she rare or something like that well thats what I've been told and yes I really want her but I don't want to pay that much and I don't have the money lol but my friend for Canada says she find them very commonly going for like $10 and she says she got hers for $5 which is CRAZY to me to be honest
My opinion on value collecting only is that dolls aren't like Birkin bags, Birkin bags go up in price the longer you have it but dolls go up and down in price and only a few are worth a lot of money.
My favorite doll is Sasha cheerleader cuz my mom didn’t like bratz so I was never able to get them but one day we were at the store and she said I could pick out a toy and I picked the cheer bratz Sasha and she let me get it! I was so excited & ive loves her ever since. I would love to buy a new one because I lost her shoes and Pom poms, but I have such a priceless memory with that doll that the memory makes it the best doll I personally have
Your talk videos are good to listen to whilst I do my RHs hair so i’m glad you post often. My only recommendation would be set yourself dot points so that your video is a little bit clearer, sometimes I get lost in what you’re talking about but regardless of that your videos are fine the way they are it’s just something that may improve them
I've learnt with collecting, if there's one you really want that you think costs too much, don't have to buy it because you'll most likely find the same one cheaper in a month or two later I love your perception on this aswell, because there is so much more meaning to your collection that just the price/value

yeah it’s definitely a worth all sdcc dolls are limited editions so ur not going to find them frequently since their really hard to find so i will take the chance while at it :) remember you can always check OfferUp mercari eBay Craglist and many more online websites
I totally agree with you, recently I got draculaura and clawd schools out set with the box (they're in perfect condition) and I paid 100 bucks, I don't regret. This was my dream since they came out, but in the same specter I wouldn't pay the same price for deuce and cleo 2pac so yeah, emotional value is there for sure at least as a buyer.
I live in New Zealand where we are mostly covid free and already the prices of monster high dolls is dropping on the second hand market. I joined the Bratz facebook groups and people are soo negative towards each other. Not be mean, but hopefully after covid the trendhopping collectors will kinda disappear.

i tottally get you. im not a collector,but i just bought an original cabbage patch doll in box with adoption certificate from the us (im in liverpool england ) for a really good price as a present for my new niece . They can be quite expensive but i think it will look lovely in her room untill she is old enough to decide whether to open her or not (by then it will be over 30 years old but brand new ) ps i tottally enjoy youre enthusiasm for your hobby.
im in the squishmallow collecting community and two of the most popular squishes that used to sell for $200-$300 on mercari have gone down to $50 (which is CHEAP now) because people stopped buying them for that price. if buyers stop buying felicia and dresden for over $200, sellers will see that this doesn’t sell. all it takes is ONE person to buy a doll (even like a funk out yasmin) for a higher price than normal, and then every other seller sees that and assumes that she can sell for that price and her price is now higher!! why don’t people get this 😭

I think when it comes to anything i notice a lot of folks are just really self righteous and its sad that it has to be that way for them :/ that their way is the only way even in something as fun a hobby collecting. One of my parents has that type of mindset and yes it is a big kill joy always having to over-explain why you do this or that when it comes to your own money/purchases ): I kinda feel the way in terms of idc if an item is really rare theres a ton of rare stuff out there i thought was personally meh or im just not the type of person who like hunting down or chase rare/expensive items it is not fun for me at I wanna own stuff that i actually enjoy and bring happiness into my life whether it was 20$ or 200$ . plus I do tend to tread more on the curated side of things so with dolls as i only just got into being interested in them in the last 6 months i missed out on a good 75% of most people fave doll lines/limited edition releases that i would of been into if my situation had allowed me so i tend to be realistic i do want most of my dolls in box(i dont even own 30 nor do i think i want more than 50 tbh) so that might be easier than someone who owns lets say 630 dolls.

I really love saving money and getting a deal on things! For me it adds "value" to the doll itself when I find a good deal because it makes me happy lol However I would never ask somebody else if something was a good deal or not, thats kind of weird and it doesn't matter to me if they think it is or not! I have bought old powerpuff girl toys for 100+ dollars and I will brag to my non collector friends about the "deal" I got and I know they think im insane for spending that much on a toy 😂 but for me it was still a great price and it made me happy!

I really really want the glam magic winx club dolls but the seller are literally selling them so much. Stella is 3,000 WTF really? Why just why? The most I payed for a winx club doll was..... I don’t really remember but the most I payed was between $160??? I mean for me that’s a lot. My mother thinks I am crazy. She is probably right. I don't think dolls are an 'investment'. I wish for sure lol but let's face it, it's generation based. Once the generation is gone or not wanting certain lines anymore, the dolls loose all monetary value... We collect dolls because we love them ❤
I don't really buy expensive dolls. The 2 more expensive dolls I have bought were not that expensive. I have Collector Draculaura but I paid very little money for her because I found her on Ebay very cheap. It was during the time when nobody wanted MH anymore. How can people suddenly dismiss dolls like this surprises me. I would never pay £50 for a playline Bratz or a MH. I know that if I am patient, I will eventually find them thrifting. Sometimes I find dolls in boot sales that I buy very cheaply. When I research them on line, I can't believe how much they cost. I would never buy a doll for its value. I only buy the ones I love.
yep I agree I feel like the pandemic came and many lost their jobs so the current thing to do is buying dolls and reselling for double the price or selling their collection for financial issues which I understand like you need money but it’s just too overpriced yk and once it’s over people gunna forget and us collectors have an opportunity to take over lmfao 😩

There is also a problem with doll collectors selling their dolls for prices that they would not pay. There is one doll youtuber (will not name them for their safety) who sells their dolls for more than what they would buy them for and they do not even sell something rare. They just sell regular common dolls. And many other doll collectors do the same!!! How do these kind of people sleep at night? I understand you want to make money but show some dignity and sell them for appropriate prices.
Oh well I'm not going to name any names but its largely the European boxed collectors. The way they coveted and acted like they were the ultimate dolls and treated them like a status symbol and then for some reason they fixated on Musa. Then people actually started paying more and more (these collectors are also prolific for scalping/selling cheap dolls for stupid prices). If spending that much makes them happy then it's fine but the Glam Magic price inflation is truly one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen

There is literally only one doll I would spend over 200$ is sweetheart Dana, on any other doll I would rather spend under 150$

I was curious ..what are your favorite dolls (my guess would be winx) and what dolls are not for you?..What age did you start collecting dolls (not just playing with. Lol)? When did you start making your you tube videos and why did you start? You don't have to answer..and maybe I could find the answers if I saw all your videos..I have tried.. anyways. I really love saving money and getting a deal on things! For me it adds "value" to the doll itself when I find a good deal because it makes me happy lol
However I would never ask somebody else if something was a good deal or not, thats kind of weird and it doesn't matter to me if they think it is or not!
I have bought old powerpuff girl toys for 100+ dollars and I will brag to my non collector friends about the "deal" I got and I know they think im insane for spending that much on a toy 😂 but for me it was still a great price and it made me happy!

I love my dollies but every time I had to sell some I at least try to get back what I paid for them. It always worked for me

I really really want the glam magic winx club dolls but the seller are literally selling them so much. Stella is 3,000 WTF really? Why just why? The most I payed for a winx club doll was..... I don’t really remember but the most I payed was between $160??? I mean for me that’s a lot. My mother thinks I am crazy. She is probably right. Like you said I should probably do my research on them 😅 but I don’t? I don’t know why😅😂
I don't think dolls are an 'investment'. I wish for sure lol but let's face it, it's generation based. Once the generation is gone or not wanting certain lines anymore, the dolls loose all monetary value... We collect dolls because we love them ❤

I don't really buy expensive dolls. The 2 more expensive dolls I have bought were not that expensive. I have Collector Draculaura but I paid very little money for her because I found her on Ebay very cheap. It was during the time when nobody wanted MH anymore. How can people suddenly dismiss dolls like this surprises me. I would never pay £50 for a playline Bratz or a MH. I know that if I am patient, I will eventually find them thrifting. Sometimes I find dolls in boot sales that I buy very cheaply. When I research them on line, I can't believe how much they cost. I would never buy a doll for its value. I only buy the ones I love.
I bet you as soon as Covid is over, let it take a couple months people are going to stop collecting. Just like Pokémon.

yep I agree I feel like the pandemic came and many lost their jobs so the current thing to do is buying dolls and reselling for double the price or selling their collection for financial issues which I understand like you need money but it’s just too overpriced yk and once it’s over people gunna forget and us collectors have an opportunity to take over lmfao 😩

There is also a problem with doll collectors selling their dolls for prices that they would not pay. There is one doll youtuber (will not name them for their safety) who sells their dolls for more than what they would buy them for and they do not even sell something rare. They just sell regular common dolls. And many other doll collectors do the same!!! How do these kind of people sleep at night? I understand you want to make money but show some dignity and sell them for appropriate prices.

Who's *really* to blame for GME going for insane prices and being over hyped in the Winx doll community though?
Oh well I'm not going to name any names but its largely the European boxed collectors. The way they coveted and acted like they were the ultimate dolls and treated them like a status symbol and then for some reason they fixated on Musa. Then people actually started paying more and more (these collectors are also prolific for scalping/selling cheap dolls for stupid prices).
If spending that much makes them happy then it's fine but the Glam Magic price inflation is truly one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen
