Velliangiri is a place located in the Western Ghats of the western border of the district Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The area at the foot of this hill Velliangiri is called as Poondi. There is a beautiful temple at this place Poondi, which is facing east with the shrines of Poondi Ganesha, Lord Velliangiri and the Goddess Manonmani. Recently, a 4 1/2 feet tall ivory statue of Nataraja and a statue of 63 Shiva Devotees were consecrated.
To the north of the temple is the Pancha Ganesha Mandapam with five Ganesha statues. Next is the zodiac pillar made of stone and this is something that cannot be found in any other temples. This structure looks like a fully bloomed lotus flower formed by stacking 9 lotus flowers on its central stalk. At the base of this fully bloomed lotus flower are the 12 zodiac signs neatly carved. At the top is an umbrella with a portrait of a beautiful bird on it.

Hi Saskay thambi, overall-ah video is very nice. But suggest not to start vellingiri hills trekking on day time especially between 6 am to 10 am because of heavy summer heat, verum kaalule nadakaradhu suudu porukaadhu. but u can start the trekking by 12 noon or 1 pm because u will walk in the forest on mid-day. So kaatukule nelal(shadow) adhigam irukum adhanale problem illai. When u reach 4th hill open place u will not have heat as u reach 4th hills by 5 pm(close to sunset) & also u can enjoy the view of the hill/nature on the sunlight during sunset.

Hope this will open eyes for others who are not following guidelines and to those who dont know how to behave in this kind of places and to protect our natural wonders. Please try to go to Mookambiga temple Kudachadri which is a good place for trekking. First half through jeep and then by walk. You can see high altitude hill tops and sankrachariyar peedam. It is in Karnataka and have to go through train Konkan railways and then get down at Kundapura and then take jeep or bus to reach Mookambiga Temple. Keep up your good job. Thanks for entertaining us.

- Lot of buses there from Gandhipuram bus stand. ( ask for bus to poondi. )
- last bus back from poondi @ 8 PM
- Also share auto is there from poondi.
- 2 days before pouranami till pouranami or weekend lot people will go
- Weekdays less crowded
- Morning time hike too hot, but peaceful. Sometime I was only person no one around me.
- ok to wear slippers/shoes till 6th malai. 7th malai go barefoot.

@@mallikavasudevan2744 yes Amma, woman over 50 age is allowed. Same rules as Sabarimala, this year it will be closed at chitirai month end. Next year March ( Tamil month Maasi 1st ) will be opened again. Have seen people over 50 or 60 trekking, so with belief in God and good health everyone can reach the temple.
