Crazy to think his time as the reigning champion for Ferrari lasted 21 years, and yet I don't see enough people talking about Jody Scheckter these day.
Well reigning champion isn't exactly the term.
Because his successor in ferrari champions, michael schumacher were so dominant, if schumacher let say 'only' won one championship with ferrari, sheckter will be talked about more, but he won 5 with them. It is not that jody is bad and his name already in history book, it just that people who see sheckter race is not talk it on internet most of the time
🟨
People talk more about Villeneuve than they do about Jody.
I remember as a South African kid I was over the moon when I found out we had a South African f1 champ.
Very proud.
Good old south African accent
Back here in South Africa we call him Sideways Schekter. Much love Jody from South Africa
How about beyond the grid with Jenson Button?
We are always hearing from him on sky. His story is well known
Now I can't wait till a South African Grand Prix comes around!
Well it won't return to Kyalami anytime soon.
Na, fuck it, nobody needs a GP in socialist country run by racists
@@diogeneslantern18 It's certainly the best candidate for a South African GP, being an FIA Grade 2 Circuit, but the country itself needs a lot of fixing before it's ready, it's a massive shame. Going back there in July and I really wanna visit the circuit
@@gregoriusporosius SA is not a socialist country lol.
@@diogeneslantern18 They are on their way currently and with freakin huge steps
Thank you from South Africa for this chat with Jody. Were one of many of his fans back in the day at Kyalami et al. Amazing car control -even in a Renault - going sideways through the corners. A deserving world champion.

I wish Mika Salo would take part in one of these.
"You came out and said you'd received death threats after the race. How did that feel for you, I mean it must've been quite horrifying to put it mildly."
"What was it like coming in at Ferrari after Michael had broken his leg at Silverstone? What was the atmosphere like at Maranello"
"You got a drive at Sauber as a thank you. Can you tell us what it was like to work for Peter Sauber?"
"It's fair to say that you and Mika Hakkinen weren't the best of friends - why was that and how did it start?"
The Tom Clarkson question generator is here.
@@heliumtrophy don't forget "what did you thought about Max's move on Kimi in Austin"
He gave Max that penalty
@@heliumtrophy How quick was -insert faster teammate-?
@@TomiVuori he would say he nailed it.
Amazing person, live long Mr. Jody Scheckter.
I’m such a proud South African ❤️
Another great interview, great job Tom, always had a lot of respect for Jody, love his attitude to the sport!
All this time later Jody hasn't lost his SA accent.
Diplomatic immunity
Same with Gordon
His accent isn't that strong compared to others.
That accent is brilliant :)
Domenic D
A South African accent, most peculiar English rendition....ever. Super proud of this man. His brother and nephew, brilliant racers as well. Ian Scheckter... also a a great name in F1..🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
@Roger Dodger no its not you clearly dont know
Jody was a great driver 😃
One of the best living proof motorsports drivers are way smarter than many would think. Being able to make not one but two different career after F1 is quite admirable.
Also a former "crash guy" who became a great speaker about security.
Great respect for Jody
Awesome to hear a fellow South Africans F1 story. Ive always wanted to know more. Fantastic video.
One of my favorite champion because he recognizes the importance of healthy foods.
Would love Vettel and Adrian Newey on these
after having listened to about all of your fascinating interviews - i still have one living legend on my list: vic elford
If anyone from Bose is reading this, we'll happily let your sponsor our podcast...
Another great interview !
Tom thank you for this. My favorite pdcast without a doubt. Just some request. I really prefer longer podcasts. Like more than an hour. Besides I really wanna hear from RON DENNIS, VETTEL and ADRIAN NEWEY. Thanks again
vettel for what lol
Wow haven't ever heard of this story. Sounds like a cool dude ...
Best tasting healthiest food - that should be the brand name
AHHHHHHHHH JODY JODY JODY

Right boring twat
I'm gonna miss these classic drivers...
Haha. Wonderful. Always love the legends b4 senna vs prost.
Can we see Dany Ric, or Max Verstappen to do this please?
Danny ric was on Nico Rosberg's podcast not long ago
@@seanonraet8327 I mean full Daniel Ricciardo podcast
I'd actually want hear Jos Verstappen now and then Max a few years from now
Please do barricello
2nd from last place, i'm lucky
Jody!
My fellow Od Selbornian!
Grumpy. Yep. Love the story about negotiating with Enzo. Sharp guy, like most successful racing drivers. As always an excellent interview by a skilled journalist, warming up the subject as it went on. And I agree: Hamilton is by and large the most mature and masterful driver on grid at the moment. Max is his only true rival.
Thaks teamates
Jody on his time in F1: Did I finish 3rd that race? I don't know, I don't remember. I did suffer a puncture and that ruined my race.
Jody, the bio-farmer - A much more animated person to talk to.
How about beyond the grid with Mika Häkkinen?
We want to hear again about when he overtook the Michael
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
47 دقيقه سواليف ليه مجنون 😤😤
Daniel next pls
Now there's a F1 driver not those kids
We need episodes with Alonso and Hakkinen
Rory Byrne
Nigel Mansell? Mika Salo? Häkkinen?
🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Scheckter is South Africa ?
He's also Jewish
Yes he is South African. I wish he could come and invest in this country and help develop motorsport.
I do understand this is a podcast, which means "a listen along type show". And I have listened to (guessing) more than 10 shows. It is in my book one of the best podcast on You Tube. But on this podcast, I really found myself wishing for at least some still pictures. After all this is You Tube. What would have like to have seen was a current picture of Jody Schecker and a picture of the 12 or 13 cars he owns. Here's To Wishing!
Could we possibly do Mario or Michael Andretti? A little more Indycar crossover is great for open wheel everywhere imo
So Tom is now starting these with "Heil"?
Ricardo patrese
Hello, I'm Jeremy Clarkson and you're listening to Beyond The Grid
Bring ricciardo
That Hulkenberg talk at the end.... that didn't age well :/
Have Timo Glock on there one day
CDM 02 That would be a fun comments section...
"Is..IS THAT GLOCK?"
please please please activate the subtitles, we are not all English speaking
Eres Fons de Fórmula Fons?
Why do you guys in English don't pronounce Ferrari correctly? You all say something like Fur-harry , when in all other languages in the world it's very close to the italian.
Max P. He’s South African
2nd
5 second penalty 😭
2nd 😂🤣
First
Careful, might get a 5 second penalty
Hhahahahahaha
Tom Clarkson is contractually obligated to set an alarm for 4AM, walk to his bedroom window and scream "BOSE!" at his neighbours
Don't you get bored posting this same comment every week? :/
@@HammyMansell80 nope
@@SirGingerOfKnight That's a pity.....
@@HammyMansell80 no less repetitive than "first", "five second penalty", or "that's radillon, actually"
