It's honestly hilarious to me that the best part of this ride isn't even the ride part, but getting to look at the advanced animatronic at the end. The queue and facade is more fun to look at and walk through than the ride itself, really wish we could've gotten more stuff like the bats at the very beginning between the simulation segments to make you feel like you're actually at Islands of Adventures rather than an escaped Studios ride.
Sadly, most people don't get a good look because they don't think to take off the glasses. In fact, I wonder if everyone realizes it's a real animatronic....
Yeah but it's way better than Fast and Furious SC. At least they plussed it over the Hollywood original with AAs and more scenes, unlike FFSC. For me it's not the best but it's still a good ride.

To add insult to injury they just did a rip off of the KONG 360 at Universal in California almost same exact thing except they replaced the tram. It’s not a bad ride but it could’ve been so much better. Just saying. 👍🏾✌🏾
I haven't been on this ride, but after looking at it I'm not impressed. Also I miss the Kongfrontation ride, and I feel like it's way better than this one because it made you feel like you were in New York City trying to escape from King Kong. Plus the special effects with the fire, the fake cop cars they had, the fire hydrant, the buildings, and the fact that you felt like King Kong was trying to destroy your ride while the ride drops down made it a very dope ass ride.
Loved that ride as a kid, it was terrifying & exhilarating all at once! My favorite parts were peeking around for the all the little details in the streets & apartments, like roller skates on a fire escape, TVs playing the news broadcasts & of course, Kong's banana breath! 🍌 I wish I could take my kiddo back in time to show him the original Universal Studios Orlando, he loves Back to the Future, Jaws, Beetlejuice & Ghostbusters movies & would be so psyched.

Anyone else skip forward past the stupid screens just to get to the animatronic? When are they going to learn that's what the people really want. Nothing impresses more than REAL LIFE figures. You can put anything you want on friggin' screens, but you get the real feel of the size and presence of the moving object, fake or not. Also, wow seeing the upper half of his torso was so nostalgic for me. I never knew the ride had burned down back in the old days. I remember it so vividly and was sad to hear they replaced it instead of rebuilding it. Legends never die. ✊

For people who rode the studio tour and saw this it’s fine that people don’t like it. But for someone like me who hasn’t been to the Universal Park in California, this is a fun as hell ride.
Based on these comments I’m one of the few that absolutely love this ride! It’s funny because this ride is basically exactly the same as “Fast and Furious” and hate that ride. I absolutely love Peter Jackson’s 2005 King Kong movie so I’m biased haha
I have always loved universal, I was born and raised in Florida, growing up my brother and I always got season passes to universal and Disney, fortunately I got to experience some of the greatest rides universal and Disney had to offer, unfortunately universal and Disney (more so universal) have been in my opinion taking the lazy approach to rides, I just can't get onboard with how they use basically giant TV's for everything...sorry about the long rant, losing the rides I grew up with as a kid is definitely heartbreaking
I personally like it bc I don’t like coasters, they have to try and accommodate to everyone. I prefer 3D / VR rides anyways which helps accommodate to people like me and then there’s tons of cool themed coasters for everyone else :)

So after 2018 they listened to everyone, because remember even though people were complaining before 2018, the rides were probably already in development, and now Disney us putting less effort, more screen, less animatronics, and less practical effects.

I was happy they brought king Kong back to Universal, but I much prefer it taking place in the city rather than skull island. I feel we have enough dinosaurs with Jurassic World section of the park. It would’ve been cool to have the setting more like the original ride.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong in Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando is better. The King Kong ride in IOA is longer because the story of the ride is extended and there are more screens and special effects, and at the end of the ride there is a King Kong animatronic and it’s huge and so life like. I would definitely ride the one in Orlando.

Was a very fun ride when it didn’t break down on me when I went on it for the first time in November haha got stuck right when the weird larva were taking over. Was cool tho to see with the lights all on with we evacuated
The thing people might not think about in regards to the rides in the 2010's that utilized screens, they're cheaper attractions, sure, but just think about all the money that had to be put into the Potter sections in 2010 and 2014. It's no wonder any other new attractions during the decade we're screen reliant. When Hagrid's opened in 2019 it was like they were finally going full throttle again in regards to budget/creativeness/innovation. Then a new stunt show follows, then VelociCoaster. I think they're back to being in a good place overall in the Orlando parks. And now they're going ahead and replacing stuff like Shrek so that after Epic Universe opens people don't just shrug off the Studios park.

Universal spent too much money on Hagrid's, so we get this bad Kong ride. This should've been like the jungle cruise except with more thrills.

Could see the bus 5mins away in line and the ride broke down for the rest of the day on my birthday 2/17/22... At least we got a Single Admit Pass to skip any other ride line tho.
Not as good as what came before, but still looks very fun in its own right.
Was a very fun ride when it didn’t break down on me when I went on it for the first time in November haha got stuck right when the weird larva were taking over. Was cool tho to see with the lights all on with we evacuated

The thing people might not think about in regards to the rides in the 2010's that utilized screens, they're cheaper attractions, sure, but just think about all the money that had to be put into the Potter sections in 2010 and 2014. It's no wonder any other new attractions during the decade we're screen reliant. When Hagrid's opened in 2019 it was like they were finally going full throttle again in regards to budget/creativeness/innovation. Then a new stunt show follows, then VelociCoaster. I think they're back to being in a good place overall in the Orlando parks. And now they're going ahead and replacing stuff like Shrek so that after Epic Universe opens people don't just shrug off the Studios park.
