    Personally think it’s far better to merge the two into one personality. It erases the both of them but it also erases their trauma. It creates the true unfiltered person behind the two masks, one without a God complex and one without a Slave complex. Both God and Dog are facades unconsciously crafted to adapt to the trauma he had to deal with.

    The amount of creativity went into this game is absolutely beyond normal. In what other game can you find an ethnos of quasi-humans suffering from DID, and within that ethnos, have 2 of the personalities living inside one of those quasi-human heads, changing cages here and there, then going insane by the end with the cages changing every 10 seconds, with 4 options to kill either voice, merge them together, or kill the body host. That is so many layers, in a small game that was given 18 months to make and fuck all money

    i love that they used the Cathedral theme/"Acolytes of the New God" track from Fallout 1 for this area.
    Really poetic for curing Nightkin - one of the Master's finest of his schizophrenia.
    This is where Dog (literally) learned to let go(of God, his alter ego)

      yah they reuse a lot of tracks from the 1st one in nv, but dead money's approach just hits sooo different, the original brotherhood of steel theme plays when you meetup with/confront christine in the suites and it's so depressing and melancholic and thematically layered oh man

    My final confrontation with Dog/God is less aggressive, as I only ever interact with God in the Sierra Madre, and make great effort to gain God's trust.
    Curing Dog/God of his split personality, bringing peace to his turbulent mind and mangled body, is one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done in a video game.

    when you have less than 4 int dog tells you his backstory and says that before “he was colored like the sky” he had something like a collar in his wrist were he now has a bear trap, maybe he used to be a vault dweller like Lily before being converted into a nightkin?

      He probably is, since all original supermutants were converted from vault dwellers, enter the OG Fallout main quest. The second gen of supermutants generally does not suffer from the lack of the Master, only a master.

      Huh I remember him talking about the wrist device but iirc it was supposed to be a stealth boy, he said with it he could turn into color of sky, turn into color of ground, so it's probably a stealth boy

    Ah, the emotional payoff of the Sierra Madre… Absolutely worth it.
    Managed to trap Elijah in the vault while stealing all the gold in my most recent play through, too. After that, though, it was… too empty. I killed every ghost person, cleaned out every room I could find, and I left a few challenges uncompleted because it was too unsettling…
    Wonder how it looked seeing my courier waddle back into the Mojave with thousands of pounds of stuff on him.

    I still remember how I ugly cried when I reached this moment in the DLC. It still gives me chills, though doesn't bring me to the brink of tears anymore. I was probably under affect of being very nervous and tensed because I didn't expect the DLC to be so hard for me, a casual player, especially taking into consideration I tried to play sneakily yet due to the bug most enemies had perception of 0 that resulted in infinite perception that ruined all the possibility for stealth. So after all the dread, this is almost the finish line, all the time spent with the companions pays off, and I am hit with this. Felt good to pause and cry for a while afterwards ngl. Such a good DLC. Thanks for reminding me of that first playthrough!

    • @HeadHunter697
      @HeadHunter697 5 місяців тому +1

      Really, that was a bug? I just figured you were facing supernatural enemies so stealth is useless

    • @winniefrankin4010
      @winniefrankin4010 5 місяців тому +1

      @@HeadHunter697 I just googled and turns out I was wrong. It is not caused by the infinite perception, but by the lighting mechanics being inconsistent:
      Ghost people should be exceedingly easy to sneak by, as they have minimum Perception, however, sneaking is very inconsistent in the Sierra Madre; the reason for this is that New Vegas' sneak calculations account for light separately from Perception, so being near lights will allow ghost people to notice the player from further away than expected. Despite looking relatively dim, the lights scattered around the Sierra Madre are considered nearly as bright as daylight, and so stepping into one can cause the player to be spotted instantly. Additionally, Ghost People level with the player character above level 30 (the level cap for creatures in the base game), up to the maximum of level 50. This exponentially increases their ability to detect the player from further away than Fallout: New Vegas' highest level creatures, such as the legendary deathclaw.
      Other than the obvious lights, the visual effect of stepping into fog is partially achieved by changing the current weather, and during daytime the toxic fog weather is nearly as bright as daylight, so ghost people may detect the player when this happens. Finally, while most Villa areas have dim ambient lighting, in Puesta del Sol, the ambient light is always comparable to Mojave daytime, making sneaking effectively impossible in this area.
      Ghost people do not have infinite Perception due to a supposed bug in their AI affecting their Perception. Their base Perception of 1 is reduced to 0 through gameplay modifiers, but this does not cause any changes to how they detect the player. Sneak calculations do not allow for enemy Perception to go below 1, and even if a NPCs perception is reduced to 0, this would not cause an overflow. The reason for frequent detection by ghost people is because of light detection, as mentioned above.
      So I was wrong in explanation, but right in conclusion. You were supposed to be able to sneak around them, but it's not hapenning not because of perception fuck up. My bad.

    I healed him as my first instinct. I wanted to see what would happen if his personality merged; and it just pained me to see Dog suffer. As much as my character was a sadistic bitch who drenches herself with the blood of her foes, someone like Dog makes her motherly instincts emerge, and so she helped him find his way.

    Could it be that when he the courier said something about being the Master, Dog thought it was, “The Master” from Fallout 1?
