So I was one of the first on the west coast to have Rezum done over 7 years ago and it changed my life for the positive. I researched the heck out of everything out there (staple my prostate and urethra open?? Heck no!!). Went through all the remedies that were offered but nothing worked. Family history told me I was in for the long term! Never taken a single pill since the procedure and within a couple months I had normal bladder function. I was 48 at the time so relatively young but I suffered a lot prior to the Rezume procedure with prostate pain, etc. as many of you might know. 7 years later I do notice some mild symptoms coming back but nothing even close to the major issues prior to the procedure. I have some night peeing now but I chalk that up to perhaps a reoccurrence of BHP as I get older. Good news is that I could repeat the procedure if things get worse. No way in hell am I going to take any Pharma drug for the rest of my life. I’ve seen that ruin lives of several people around me from the prolonged exposure to them. Anyway, my story is purely my experience with this. Best 2 minutes of my life. Oh and by the way, those two minutes were some of the most excruciating momentary pain I ever felt but it was well worth that pain.

Just let you know all I had prostate size 130cc, I had retention with catheter for 3 months as I couldn’t pass water. A month ago I did Rezum procedure done by Mr Kalsi in London. It was absolutely painless procedure, unlike the comments I read which talking about terrible pain, lat Monday the catheter was out and I been ok since.
I have read somewhere that Rezum will even work on prostates as big as 186cc which was done successfully.
Hope this will encourage some of you to go for it.
I was done on general anesthetic and felt nothing even when I was up. The only bad thing is you need to have catheter for at least for 3 weeks so the swelling will go plus it takes up to 3 months to shrink the prostate. I kept my catheter for 4 weeks to make sure as I was very worried and didn’t have that much faith on procedure.

A most helpful video. Now getting older and find the sensations needed to trigger an orgasm are not as strong. OK so I’m getting older but am really struggling with this. Ideas that can help?

Does Rezume work if you’ve had surgical treatment 20 years before, and the prostate has regrown considerably?

It can do but the first thing to assess is the particulars regarding the recurrent symptoms. This will require some additional investigations including a cystoscopy or camera inspection.

So why would you not offer this treatment to men with urinary retention? I have a large median lobe and I only void ~ 180 ml/cc so clearly I am retaining a significant amount. I'm assuming the retention is caused by the ball-valve effect of the median lobe.

Hi Mike is all about trade offs. Firstly there are different degrees of retention. Some can be acute and are characterised by pain and a complete inability to pee at all. It can also be chronic not associated with pain and characterised by incomplete emptying. Creating a cavity such as with GreenLight maximally unblocks the bladder. Whilst Rezum also unblocks a bladder it doesn’t perform this to the same degree. So treatments need to be tailored to the individual to achieve the desired outcome. Hope this helps👌🏻

Do number of sticks increase the effectiveness of the Rezum? I had one done three years ago by a doctor that well let us say wasn't that good. Just had another procedure Monday he uses eight sticks. My prostate was 63 grams. I am hoping I can go longer than three years before having anything else done.
    Thanks

Hi Steve each injection delivers 1 cc of steam to an area of BPH. The greater the number of injection sites the larger the treatment area and in theory should correlate with an improved result. The more injection sites used however can cause more swelling of the prostate and a slower recovery time, so there is a balance to be found. Good luck!👌🏻

How likely is a Urethral Stricture after the catheter ? Is that possible ? Thank you in advance for your answer

Whilst it is possible it is a very low probability event.

@@TheProstateClinicTPC Thank you for the quick response
      I had rezum in January
The healingprocess was fine but since the last 5 days I have a lower urine flow from about 10 ml/s
Is that still part of the healingprocess ?
Thank you in advance for your answer

Hi Holger no that does not sound standard. I would touch base with your local urologist to discuss.

Why is resume limited to smaller prostates

    • @TheProstateClinicTPC
      @TheProstateClinicTPC  3 роки тому +5

Strictly speaking larger prostates can be treated with Rezum. The trade off is that the published data looks at prostates

Im 55 and been on flomax and finisteride for 9 years. Had procedure done with prostate size of 80cc. I recommend REZUM to any men eligible for it. In 2 weeks I was amazed at the improvement! I feel like I’m in my twenties again. Only side affect for me was burning while peeing, but that lasted a couple of weeks and was manageable.
      Thanks for posting this !!!

Why is this treatment not available in Canada? Couldn't one of you American doctors communicate with a Canadian doctor, and teach them the procedure , so we Canadians don't have to continue to suffer with the outdated treatments, and drugs that do more harm than good!

Hi John, sorry I’m over in Australia so cannot comment about what is happening in Canada. There must be someone though that is performing this treatment over there I would have thought. Good luck👍🏻
