Hope you all had a great holiday week! This cover was a lot of fun to put together. Next week I have a song coming out from a game I haven't touched in way too long. Hope you enjoy! As always, tabs are available to all silver level supporters on Patreon! Thanks for the support!
You know, something I learned a while back is that anger and sadness are really the same emotion, just expressed in a different way. The differences is that anger can hurt others, wheras sadness really only hurts yourself. This begs the question: Is it better to hurt yourself, or others? Do with this as you please.
Yeah. There's evidence from the way she acts that she might have trauma/ have a bad home life, so it probably really hurt her when Lancer betrayed her... I feel bad for the edgy Barney girl now. :(
@@memeurr--dreemurr8530 I could be misremembering something, but I think Toby said that Susie's story will be explained in later chapters. It wouldn't be surprising if she is/was living in a hostile/toxic environment.
@@JameyMcQueen aged like a fine wine, in chapter 2 when she is asked by toriel to call home and ask her parents if she can stay at kris' house, the moment toriel leaves the room she doesn't.
this is the theme of Susie's struggle with herself. she hates herself. she secretly thinks everyone else hates her, too. and in her, this pain turns to violence. violence to lancer, violence to herself. she's been through something truly awful. i honestly think she's the main character, because she's the character with a development arc. and i think it's far from over. we haven't even begun to see her demons yet.
@@Gamer2002 I mean, we haven’t really been able to get Ralsei to do anything either. Though, that could be for a lack of trying. Since we never get the opportunity to suggest or tell him something. And considering how it’s implied the players voice mimics Kris’s own, it’s a toss up on whether Ralsei would blindly follow a random voice much like Noelle did.
@@cantmakeacreativename2072 Either way, Ralsei seems to know we're there. I don't buy the whole 'he's evil' schtick, but he's definitely plotting something/not telling us everything. Every time we cut to see what Susie's been doing, it seems like Ralsei just finished telling Kris something very important as soon as we get back, conveniently when we aren't around. In Snowgrave, the scenes between Susie and Noelle even happen off-screen, and Ralsei is visibly frustrated that we don't break away like we should. I think he's like Flowey, where he has, somehow, transcended the 'game' and can see past what everyone else can't.
@@Going4Broke2528 good point, but I’m not sure if this is enough evidence to conclude that. Don’t get me wrong, it is an outcome I can see being true, but as of now a lot of the supposed evidence is still just speculation. Nothing meaty enough to support a claim as big as this. I am hoping they go with that direction though. Would make his character a bit more interesting and would give him more relevance in the story.
I can't think of any other track from a video game - or even not from a video game, honestly - that just hits you with an overwhelming sense of dread like that. It may help that on my first playthrough, that part with the deep bass hit *right* when Lancer started missing on purpose like Toriel and it really dawned on me how much he didn't want to do this. And there was just like that shock, where I instantly went from "nice, I'm doing pretty well in this fight" to "oh my god, I'm killing my friend, STOP". For the purpose of bringing up that specific emotion, I can't think of anything that can top this.
When I played I really noticed how much character development Susie has had, first she was violent and rude, then she kept getting kinder towards the party And that also means that Susie and I have a lot in common
God, I love this. It has kind of the same energy as some of your Super Meat Boy covers, particularly the Hell Theme. And your SMB covers are my favorites, so that's definitely a compliment.
You know as far as covers the song goes I think I like yours best it seems to enough to the original and yet mixes it up just enough to be like its own thing mad respect
I love your cover! Especially the part where you slow down and give us a chance to experience the melody peacefully- then swing us right back into jamming.
This song sounds kinda heavy, kinda like water when you don’t wanna drown and are trying to fight to stay up, in the same way your emotions can be heavy and you have to fight like hell to not drown in them and let them take over, who would’ve thought such an insightful epiphany would come from a youtube comment
I have never played Deltarune but the part at 0:55 kind of reminds me of something... if only I could tell of what it remindes me. Does anyone know of soundtracks of (probably) older games that sound similar?

Absolutely beautiful work you did
i'm surprised i'm the 2nd reply
why isn’t this in the deltarune playlist?

Love what you did at 1:55-2:22. This scene in the game is as much about sadness as it is anger
It almost sounds like "Gene Wilder - Pure Imagination"
its not of sadness is about darkness and chaos like jevil my favorite character of all the games

I really like what he did with 0:00-3:09

That transition from hardcore metal to a softer tone was an awesome change. Gives the song so much more depth!
I've always said that's been one of my favorite things about Jules' covers.
You are the only person who has covered this song and actually did this part (0:54 - 1:21) the right way.
that is true!!!
Everyone forgets the note bends which add a huge amount of emotion

You can really sense the pain Susie feels in this song.
How is that edgy? Being honest is edgy, in some people's (provably wrong) opinion

Finally, A cover that seems to understand the original intent of the song!
Well, it's Doorbell Guy, of course he does
Literally the same thing I was gonna comment
All other songs make it sound epic or something of the sort when it's supposed to be menacing, and tragic
My thoughts exactly! It’s supposed to be sorrowful, which was actually focused on in this cover!
I mean, a song meant to be sorrowful could also be made epic to show how a character develops...
I know, @@justin2308. This guy actually captured the betrayal in the theme. The other covers lack that emotion.

I wonder if one of the dark worlds will be themed around Susie and her life struggles. Like the fountain appears in a place dear to her
YOU KILLED IT!!!! THIS IS THE ONLY COVER IVE HEARD THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT CAPTURES THE ORIGINAL FEELING
This is why Vs Susie is my favorite boss theme in Chapter 1. Not only does it slap, it’s fucking tragic.
Listening to Death Imminent followed by this song on Deltarune genuinely made me worried for Lancer during the fight sequence against Susie.
I felt the same! I honestly didn’t know what was going to happen, to Susie or Lancer.
Finally a cover that does justice to the original. You got the emotions of this song just right.

my GOD. that second, softer wave -where the guitar is just whining, is absolutely lethal

How many guitars do you need in one video?
Three usually. Rhythm, bass, and lead. Different guitars are more comfortable for different parts depending on tuning, strings, and tone.
this is awsome
The ending is always a great part because its the part where susie comes to terms with what she's doing is wrong.
I see FamilyJules made a Black cover too. Glad Homestuck music is becoming more popular.
