  • Dosewallips State Park includes over 1000 acres of woods, river and waterfront on the Hood Canal near Brinnon, WA. There really is something here for everyone. There is a lot of camping, a variety of different sites, as well as cabins you can stay in.
If you time it right you might see the resident elk herd, although I have yet to spot them on any of my visits. On this visit, the dogs and I spent an afternoon checking out a little of the water front area and watching the spawning salmon, as well as the birds that were around eating the salmon. I was surprised to see turkey vultures as well as ravens, crows, and gulls. We didn't spent much time on the waterfront, as the tide was coming in and some water was seeping over the trail in one spot. I wasn't familiar with how far up it would come, so turned around. Then we camped in the XTerra. It was a peaceful and comfortable night.
The next morning we went for a quick walk, had some breakfast, and then hiked the Maple Valley and Steam Donkey Trails as a loop. We saw several different birds, including a barred owl, a hairy woodpecker, and a red-breasted sapsucker, and a raven that was doing some amazing vocalizations. We got back to our campsite and enjoyed a final encounter with a cheeky squirrel before heading out.
I really love this state park, and the trails are lovely and well-marked. This was a magical and memorable weekend!
There is minimal music in this video - I wanted to just leave natural sounds this time, but there was one that Frodo was impatiently whining in so I edited the sound out and added a bit of music just for that clip - Beseeched by Asher Fulero.
This land is the traditional territory of the Skokomish and S'Klallam people.

Fun camping and hiking! We've stayed at that campground before, but not for 8-10 years. We really enjoyed the location, and went to the beach, but didn't do the woods hike. Beautiful trail and forest!! It was amazing that you got to see a nice variety of birds! The owl was awesome so was the sapsucker :) I loved seeing all the salmon in the river... I'll have to make a note and get over there sometime, try to time it when there's a salmon run. No wonder the Bald Eagle and Turkey Vultures were hanging out by the river. It was so clear- an eagle could have his pick of fish!! Wow!!

I'm always amazed at the instincts Salmon have to fight their way upstream. Loved the underwater shot too. "This whole mess is just for one person." 😂 Great video. 👍

Thank you 😆 I was a bit surprised when I saw how much I had out for just one person's camp breakfast lol. It was worth it though!
I'll definitely always be in awe of the salmon. Just everything about that journey is captivating to me, and to see such huge numbers - amazing. My dogs were less than impressed or I could have spend hours just watching them. 🐟

This is one of the stateparks my family camp every summer: clams oysters and was lucky one time surrounded by elks early morning.

That would be amazing! I was hoping to see elk, but it was such a great visit that I didn't feel let down that I didn't. I had visited this park before but never camped there, and I'll definitely be back. What a beautiful place!

Hello, I saw your UA-cam channel, very nice video on your channel, I really enjoyed it. The videos you create for your UA-cam channel are very important to growing your business. I noticed one thing: according to your channel, your channel videos are not viewed and subscribed. You need to optimise your channel and do video SEO to reach your target audience. Otherwise, if you upload videos to your channel throughout the year, none of your videos will get viral views. If your channel is optimised a little and if the videos are SEO then your channel will rank very fast and your channel will grow.

I’m not trying to grow a business or go viral. I just want to inspire people to get outdoors if they can and enjoy nature.
