I am also a sweaty little nerd with a 3 Star Sear Pen Enforcer Blade, 2 Star Dmg Heroism Scythe, Railblade , 500 HP thundercall link strider that ganks freshies for a living for them to call their friends. At the cost of watching the light in their eyes fade away for the chance of a war.

slight correction, you can press f when the white flash towards the tip of your opponents weapon and that'll parry. If you parry at the start for slower heavy weapons, you'll miss your parry and get comboed up. especially important when 17 max levels flood on your power 1 freshie.

i mean that tip wouldn't do much when you're a freshie going up against an entire guild

Just a quick tip for players. Do to how parrying and blocking is set up, you will ALWAYS parry before you block, even if you hold the button. For some reason certain weapons can block without partying however it will still put your parry on cooldown. This is quite annoying but you will get used to it.
That’s actually due to the parry cooldown being seperate from blocking the cooldown it used to be 0.5 now it has been drastically increased to 1.5 this change was made so offensive players would be more rewarded while playing passive will give you a disadvantage

this is really helpful i just bought deepwoken and kept dying constantly losing my 1 level every time
One small tip i can give, is change some of ur keybinds, like 8 9 0 or 7, if its difficult for ur fingers to reach, or change or feint button to something like e, now do note that you needa be careful that you dont change ur keybind to anything important so you dont accidentaly click z or y and hit one of 100 other dudes who are not in a good mood, and give you that jjk treatment

I like how you said that Deepwoken is a glorified rhythm game, since basically everyone, and everything, is using the ‘song’
and funnily enough the entire game is about rhythm
parrying takes reaction time and rhythm to the sounds
plus combos afterall need rhythm to be understood
I only stayed til the end because I'm tired of getting violated by some guy camping spawn with a monster mantra 😭

Deepwoken is not a turn based game. Hits don't cancel each other out anymore, both hits will land and you'll both take damage, as long as they land at the same time.

I think I might just quit the game I’ve been trying to learn this combat for about a whole week and I can’t get it down
i have a question, for some reason when i m1 with my weapon then switch to a mantra my character gets like a glow or forcefield or something im just a power 6 i have no really rare talents so idk what this could be is this the perfect cast?

you could've also mentioned the different attunement's specialties, which i will list below :
- gale : its useful for keeping pressure on the opponent by closing gaps but its a duelist attunement, meaning it works best when used in a 1v1.
- lightning : similar to gale in it being a duelist attunement but it focuses more on stun and cancelling the opponent's moves
- flamecharm : jack of all trades since it can sustain itself by regening health (phoenix impact, phoenix flames etc) and its excellent for situations where you're being ganked by 3 level 20s
- frostdraw : this one is meant for crowd control since most of its moves are AOE or area denial, it also hard counters regeneration by stealing it with a talent called "saint jay"
- shadowcast : this one is basically the same as frost except it doesnt have the regen and replaces it with more crowd control and hard damaging moves, it serves for extending fights since it'll drain the ether of the opponent
even though after all i mentioned, you can still use gale for fighting multiple people, its just that for example frost or shadow would do better in those situations

Another thing, when using a heavy weapon, parrying, even against a light weapon, gives you your turn priority back through hyper armor, just thought I'd mention that.

i still dont get the combat. Npcs hit me even though its my turn priority, i get stun spammed and die over and over and over its making me go insane
If you miss a parry you get put on a parry cool down which just puts you deeper into a combo
you should activate windows man!

im still a bit confused, i just started deepwoken yesterday and i lose to all the npcs i fight or have to fight. When i try to parry they can still hit me and i cant respond with an attack and just keep getting hit, pls help '-'

make sure you have a good internet connection as well, because if you try to fight a light weapon npc with a high ping you're doomed

@@wtfnickhax so like say I'm trying to show this to a friend right most important part of deepwoken would be attack priority in my opinion and if you're new to the game I feel people would have a trouble imagining it in there head and i feel like a better visual would work for that part. but idk man when i wrote that comment i didnt even watch the full vid i just picked that part cuz i feel like when i was teaching people this game they had a hard time understanding attack priority so thats why i nit picked on that part.

Missing a single parry means you lose over 2 bars if you're fighting a shadow user.

And feint, and vent, and close your gaps, and apply pressure via mixups. Also understand how attack priority functions. But yeah, just block parry dodge.

In short I just need help making my first character and not just having it be a complete pile of crap or even better dead before even knowing how to get to that road.
@@anonymous_user815 having pile of crap characters is part of learning. Having a meta build at a new player won't benefit you at all because you lack the experience in playing the game. Don't worry about builds right now because they won't save you from a voidwalker or a boss fight lol. Just practice man. Spar people as much as possible if PVP is what you're trying to get good at

Me and a few friends have been really trying to get into this game. We’ve been playing a few weeks and players have been horribly toxic it kinda ruins the experience when super strong players come out of no where and constantly bully and kill us… it’s toxic and has been ruining the game since we can’t even do anything about it. The get gud response is useless and really just makes it impossible for new people to get into this.
It's possible I promise you got this! The game is supposed to feel unfair but it rewards you for getting better. Don't be afraid to wipe and never stop practicing! It's a pvp game so that will never be avoided. I always recommend dedicating a solid few hours a week of sparring with a friend
What is fainting for
Feinting is for baiting out the enemies parry. When you block/Parry you get a short cool down before you do it again. So in theory if you feint your attack the enemy may try to react and block/Parry it which puts them on cooldown and should allow you to get a hit in.
