-TERMS USED IN VIDEO-
Neutral - This is a fighting game term used in games like Tekken, Street Fighter, etc. It refers to the state of play where neither player has any sort of advantage, and both players are on equal ground in terms of who's attacking or defending.
Broken - In terms of blocking, being "block broken" is the state in which your character is stunned after receiving too much poster damage. It leaves you vulnerable for a few seconds. Also referred to as "guard break".
Spot Dodge - A term used to refer to a period of invulnerability, where the player stays in the same spot. Roll cancelling with perfect timing will allow a player to stay in the same position while also dodging an attack.
-(Not mentioned, but if you're here anyway, these could help you out a lot)-
Bait - Another fighting game term, refers to a tactic of throwing something out, like an ability or attack, in order to make your opponent react in a certain way. If you anticipate this reaction, you can "fake out" your opponent, leaving them in a vulnerable position for you to attack them.
Jump Ins - Not explored in this video, but if you guys want an advanced combat guide, I will add these in. If you sprint and jump, then press m1, your character will perform an aerial exclusive attack, which can be enhanced with talents. These attacks are really good for closing the gap between you and someone else, while also having an active hitbox.
Combos - You should spend your time figuring out which mantras work best in certain situations. A "true combo" refers to a sequence of attacks that CANNOT be interrupted, blocked, or avoided in any way once you have begun the combo. An example I can think of is using Astral Wind directly after a flourish, as this will always catch your opponent and it's just free damage.
Blockstrings - This is another thing that you should spend time figuring out. This term refers to a sequence of attacks that are performed while your opponent is blocking, in order to best maximise pressure. The goal is to not let your opponent escape without risking some kind of damage or guard break.

Thank you for actually showing and explaining how the mechanics itself function in depth like that, a lot of videos missed out on it. I was especially confused on why literally no one talks about spot dodge, or even uses them because I was interested in doing it for a while now. I've seen a rare few do it so quick they don't even move their character and it leaves me amazed.

Honestly its a badass guide quiet not too much very direct and to the point maybe add more calming music and if you can do a freshie guide it be much appriciated from lvl 1 to 25 ect.

3:37 An attack having a red mark does not necessarily mean you can't parry it, it just means you cannot block it (certain red mark attacks cannot be parried either, such as sharko's kick)

@@BackstabDW Yeah tbh it probably would, ive been pvping for a few days now. Im good at parrying and similar stuff but im horrible at move cancelling and some things similar to that
@@Potings Atm those things aren't really essential as most players have no clue what they're doing. As the meta evolves and everyone gets better, I think roll cancelling and stuff like that will be super important. Good luck to you though!
@@BackstabDW Yeah true thanks, but the issue is im getting into really long parry chains with other ppl so I try to end it with cancelling my M1 but because i find it difficult to do i just get hit after cancelling it.
@@Potings Some advice, after you parry someone's attack, they'll try to instinctively start blocking to parry yours. Sometimes I mix it up a little by doing a critical right after I've parried someone, because all they're doing is holding block. You can check out my other 1v3 video and see how I mix up my attacks, maybe that'll help !

I lost two progress of a freshie namely 10, 16 levels and now back to reckless and chaotic beginning. Tried to challenge the Depth Trial but couldn't handle since i never fought sharko or Angel before. I basically panicked most attacks and fail to even overwhelmed the monster since i never understood its pattern. Hope this helps me bring back what i lost and avoid Old players gripping me at the time

I was getting mad because my parry wouldn’t let me get a combo on them and then I try to hit and I get parried then comboed so this was nice to know it’s not my skill it’s just not supposed to let you combo off parries

how do you backstab (like staying behind an opponent and it deals massive damage)
crouch behind someone (when not in combat) and left click
the damage is not really massive but it is still good for initiating fights
Now do an advance guide to combat with high ping
hey backstab do you have any tips to fight bandits cuz its a little different to fighting the sparring guy as its like a 3 on 1 kind of thing if your not being boosted
they don't normally all attack you at once. if you hold S, they'll just form a line and you can 1v1 them individually

how do u do that grab mid m1 im confused
My problem is when to parry. I don’t know how long I should wait into the attack animation. Bc it never works when I parry right before I get touched, only if I somehow predict the attack will I successfully parry. Idk if it’s just I have crap wifi and am at a disadvantage naturally or what
Keep practicing against NPCs and in arena, you'll get the hang of it. Try watching my advanced guides to see if they help.

sometimes the basics are just as important
do you know that you can spam (press R)or critical attack then roll back im no longer parrying or doing M1's use silleto or dagger for unlimited crit
in PvE yes, doesn't really work PvP
to be honest the main struggle I have is with parrying, instead of parrying on based of reaction I parry based on just guessing when they attack
You know how the weapon draws back before the attack? Right when you see it moving after the drawback, hold f
@@shreknoblade2861 high ping for you. You CANNOT parry by "seeing it" if you have it, you need to press parry and pray you get it right.
btw tip dont use light weapons bc its does low damage but fast swings dosent work on high level (except they hading skill issue)
fists are one of the best weapons in the game for high level pvp
@@BackstabDW i said light weapons The fist are just other weapon its pretty good and had decent damage and swings and can fucking do one punch man build

what do i do when i get hit over and over again, because i cant black or parry and i cant dodge either
let go of block - there's a small delay when you're spamming parry, so you have to let yourself get hit once and then try to parry
when someone hit me i get stuck into a infinite combo and die, can anyone help me how to deal with this? (i still cant kill instructor)
