amazon does that with New World. It was very obvious when doing chest runs, if it was done daily you would get trash and if you were out a few days you would get some very nice drops. The whole guild was talking about.

Yeah its bad but this has always been the case. This has a very simple fix play the games that are honest and respect you as a player. MMOs do not need to be random loot driven you can have deterministic loot kinda how most loot in New World is clear and easier to get than most games. Just make fun games and players will play.

I'm like you....I don't buy loot boxes from any game. I also won't buy keys that some games sell in their stores to open look boxes that you may pickup in game. It's all gambling, and I don't want any part of that in a game. As for rates - say you went into a store to purchase a new pair of sneakers, and the sign on the sneakers you want reads $50.00. When you get to the register, the rate goes up to $75.00 because of your zip code, would you still buy the sneakers? Would you be happy with the store? Would you shop their again? Probably not. The fact that this company knew what they were doing and knew it was wrong and did it anyway is disgusting and exploits a gamer's trust.

Yeah I read it as "geographical user location"... decrease rates when someone is playing from a posh area. "Ehhh, we can milk more out of them."

"Now we know people can do it, we know it's within the realm of possibility!" As an IT guy, I am sometimes astounded at some of the things your average user believes. Like, these aren't crazy feats of algorithmic wizardry... they have all the data, and sophisticated views and analytics on that data. With the attendant tools to manipulate the way the game behaves on all sorts of metrics. It's not like a magical random slot machine they set up without knowing exactly how every single lever on it works.

"A lot of the players would feel betrayed" That's the saddest part, in Asia at least I don't think it will cause any huge falloff in revenue. People will act outraged, but them go right back to the teet. Maybe win them back with some goofy giveaways/freebies. "Sorry, please allow us to keep boning you." "I'm sorry baby, I won't hit you again." 😏

Last comment, "The ones that help us are good, they're welcome!" No, you can't have it both ways. They're not gonna boost you without also f'ing you over later, or f'ing people you know, etc. I don't play these goofy kinds of games, but anyone who does should expect a relatively sane rand() and that's it. This is capitalism, expecting the company to hand out money isn't realistic in the first place. Real solution: don't play gacha games, and if you play games with loot boxes, don't buy them. Real simple.

Really last comments: I don't even know how many governments/regulatory body could actually monitor this kind of thing. There's always trickery that can happen on the backend. How does the govt body know it's auditing the live code? The world's filled with real problems, sometimes the problem is with personal responibility and not making bad choices. You can drink yourself to death, you can gamble your rent money away at the casino... Daddy Gov't can't always save everybody.
